Chapter 62 Is He Okay?

Chapter 62 Is He Okay?

Quinn's POV

I was barely awake when I heard the sound of a car arriving. I slowly got up as not to wake Dylan who's sleeping next to me. Yup, we decided to sleep in front of the TV last night because Dylan wanted to.

Once I was up, I brushed my hair and peeked through the window. Oh it was Owen.

Honestly, I didn't expect him because he said he would come in a few days.

So I immediately opened the door. And when this beautiful wooden door opened, I was shocked beyond belief. How could I not be? Owen's face was battered, bruised and cut everywhere. Not only that, he’s also clutching his stomach.

I put aside my curiosity and brought him inside to let him sit in the living room. Then I ran to the kitchen because yesterday I saw the first aid kit there. And after getting what I was looking for, I rushed back. There Owen was already leaning on the sofa while closing his eyes and raising his head.

I placed the box hard on the table to make him open his eyes. "You just got back from a gangster brawl?"

Honestly, this is the first time I've seen Owen like this. Because he's the most anti-violent person and he even told and promised me that he wouldn't fight no matter what even if someone hit him. But now he’s breaking that promise and that's what upset me.

"Someone hit me," he replied with a grimace as I pressed the wound with gauze.

"Because you hit first?" I snarked.

"No, Quinn. I just got out of the car and walked into the lobby when he suddenly punched me in the face. Then when I gave him an answer he didn't like, he hit me again so many times, he even kicked me in the belly."

Now my curiosity was answered. No wonder why the situation could be so terrible like this. He didn't seem able to dodge or even hit back.

"So you know him? Then why did he hit you if you didn't make trouble with him?"

Owen sighed. "Yes, I know him and so do you. But I didn't know that helping someone was a problem."

"What do you mean?"

Owen removed my hand from his face. "I don't think helping you by letting you stay here is a crime. And I guess when I lied to hide your whereabouts so he couldn't get here wasn't a crime either. Because I don't think you wanted him to follow you here either."

"Owen, just say the point, don't beat around the bush," I scolded. Honestly, I was annoyed because Owen was used to small talk and I didn't like it. Besides, I was also curious because he said I knew someone who beat him up.

"The person who made me like this is Grayson."

"What?" I covered my mouth with my hand. "Are you kidding?"

"No, I'm serious. Grayson came to my apartment at dawn. He’s trying to find out where you were. I refused to tell him, I admitted that I didn't know where you were. And this is what he ended up doing to me."

"Gosh... then why didn't you fight him? You knew he was an Alpha and you also understood his punches or kicks must be very strong. So why did you keep quiet?" I really didn't understand what was going through Owen's mind. I also don't understand what Grayson was thinking to hit someone who could drag him to court for violence. In fact, I don't even understand the minds of the two of them. These men... never mind. They are too complicated to think about.

Annoyed, I pressed the plaster to cover the wound on the corner of his lip firmly . "If it can be solved with violence, why talk nicely, am I right?"

"Quinn, I didn't want to solve it with violence either. But he started it. Even if there wasn't security there, he probably would've kept hitting me."

"You can fight him, Owen! Fight him if you're mad, not snitch on me like this!" I put the bottle of antiseptic down hard on the table. "Now you're battered. Telling me won't make your wounds disappear in a moment."

"I know and I apologize if I made you worry. I just wanted to tell you that Grayson is a bad man. He can do anything to get what he wants. One of them is like this. So imagine if the one who helped you escape from him wasn't me and he’s just a human, he could have killed him, Quinn. He's dangerous and you don't need to go back to him no matter what."

What Owen said was a fact. I also know that Grayson was also a brutal one, solving problems with violence. However, hearing bad words about him from others somehow made me angry.

I... like couldn't accept someone saying that to him. But if it was me who said it, then it was fine.

"And he’s okay? Not hurt at all?"

"Yes, he’s fine and left after the security threatened to report him to police. But what's the point of asking about his condition? You don't feel sorry for someone who has betrayed you and cheated on you, do you?"

I reflexively pulled away from Owen and stood up. "He didn't cheat on me because I was nothing to him but a coworker."

"Quinn, you've come this far and you're still not being honest?"

"He didn't cheat on me, Owen!" I said louder. "Our relationship ended because he found what he needed. It's not like our relationship ended because you cheated on me and made a fool out of me. At least he didn't cheat on me by telling me I was his fated mate and leaving me when I believed him."

I could clearly see Owen's body stiffening instantly when I brought up our past. After all, he really pissed me off for accusing Grayson. Although Grayson was indeed a jerk, it was me, not Kelly, who deserved to be called Grayson’s affair. Because Grayson had an affair with me without Kelly's knowledge. And that's what makes me so upset until now.
