Chapter 45 I Don't Give A Fuck About My Past

Chapter 45 I Don't Give A Fuck About My Past

Grayson’s POV

What the hell is she doing here!

She thinks it's cool to greet me warmly after vanishing suddenly 10 years ago? Goddammit!

“Grayson! Kelly is talking to you, son,” my mom reminded me.

I heard her too, Mom, her voice was crystal clear in my ears. I just didn't want to answer her. I still can't forget what happened 10 years ago. I can't forget when she promised me she would come to my final game, but instead she disappeared and only showed up now.

Go ahead and call me a grudge-holder. I don’t give a shit!

I looked at mom sharply. "You said this was going to be a family dinner. Just the three of us, me, you, and dad. But what is this?"

Seeing my reaction, my mom immediately stood up. Instead of coming to me, she hugged Kelly's shoulders. "Don't talk like that to Kelly, son. She just arrived after a long trip."

I laughed bitterly. I rubbed my temples because my head suddenly felt dizzy. "You told me 10 years ago that someone with good manners would let us know when they were leaving our lives. And the woman next to you didn't do that."

If she forgot, I still remembered everything. I remembered she calmed me down after my team won the game in the first season after I joined, 10 years ago. At that time, I was excited to dedicate my victory to Kelly, my first love and best friend, but she didn't come and I received a message saying that she was no longer in this town.

I still remember after the game and after reading that message, because a player from the opposing team pushed me on purpose outside the rink, I started a fight with him. I beat him up so badly that many people had to pull us apart. The scene was caught on camera and that's why I got the nickname "the wild wolf." Because I was heartbroken over that woman! Because I went crazy when she left me suddenly for no reason.

Kelly really messed up my life back then. She promised me a beautiful world, but then she wanted me to forget everything about her and asked me to think of our relationship as just friends. And now that I've managed to forget about her because of Quinn, she's back? Come on!

I don't need someone who left me to come back into my life. Now my life is full of Quinn and only Quinn!

“I know, I’ve apologized to Kelly,” mom said.

“You apologized to her but not to me? That’s really funny, mom.”

“Grayson! At least sit down and eat first, then you can leave after that.” Mom’s body swayed, held up by Kelly. “Your father can’t come, so don’t disappoint me too.”

Of course dad won't come. He's too busy with work and probably his mistress out there. That's why I strongly oppose arranged marriages because my parents also got married through an arranged marriage and ended up like this now. Walking their own paths. Looking like a family from the outside but actually just strangers who hurt each other.

“I’m sorry if my presence here is making things worse.” Kelly, who had been silent until then, finally spoke again.

“You realize that? Good.” Despite that, I ended up sitting at the dining table, next to my mother. Because no matter what, I didn’t want to see her faint and didn’t want to cause her heart problems again.

So what happens next? Will I listen to Kelly’s apology? Oh, unfortunately, even if she apologizes, it won’t change anything, it won’t make me soften toward her again. Not after I found my fated mate, Quinn.

See, Kelly seems like she’s going to say something. She opens her mouth while staring at me now.

But before that happens, I speak first. “This is the last time you lie to me, mom. If you do it again, I might not come back to this house anymore.”

Instead of being afraid as I had expected, mom smiled broadly and rubbed my hand. "Okay, I won't do it again. By the way, congratulations, sweetheart, your team won again. I'm so proud of you. You're always fantastic in every game." She then hugged me tightly.

I returned her hug because this time it felt so sincere. “Thank you.”

Honestly, I also missed being hugged like this by her. If only it weren't for her stubbornness, if only she would listen to me and leave dad, then I don't think I would have drifted apart from her.

“Congratulations, Grayson. You’ve always been amazing, even when you were a rookie.”

Because of those words, I finally looked at Kelly again. She smiled with her signature dimples, just like before.

Maybe that smile had once melted my heart, but now it was just an ordinary smile.

“I know I’m amazing, ” I said bluntly.

“He must be proud of you watching from up there.”

I slammed the table, showing my displeasure. “Don’t use him to get close to me again. It won’t work.” you bitch, I finished in my mind.

"Oh my gosh, guys, calm down. Let's just eat."

If I still wanted to join earlier to respect my mother’s invitation, now I really couldn’t stand it anymore. “So what exactly did you want to do by inviting her, mom?”

Everyone put down their utensils, including Kelly.

Oh shit! I knew where this dinner was heading. Fuck! Screw the arranged marriage!

Was Mom even aware of her own marriage? Did she still want me to follow in her footsteps? I didn't understand her way of thinking.

Unable to hold back any longer, I finally stood up and looked at them both idly. "My answer remains the same. I will not marry because of an arranged marriage. I will choose my own wife," I said firmly, not wanting any argument.

Mom looked at Kelly, then at me. "What's wrong with Kelly? She's an Alpha, just like you. She won't cause you trouble like those lowly humans out there who spread their legs everywhere to get money."

I clenched my fists at my sides. “What do you really mean by saying that, mother?

This time, she stood up too. She grabbed a fork and stabbed it into the table. “Do you think I don’t know you’re involved with a human? What’s her name? Quinn Roux? Ugh, even her name sounds low-class.”

What the hell! How does my mother know about me and Quinn? I’ve never shown our relationship to the public, and neither has Quinn. Or could she hire spies?

"Ah, never mind, I don't care what her name is. The point is, she's human. She's just after your money, son. You have to realize that."

"Quinn Blair Roux. Her name is Quinn, Blair, Roux. And she didn't spread her legs like you said. She just gave herself to me. I spread her legs. I asked her to." I emphasized every word. Now I couldn't wait any longer after she accused Quinn of being a prostitute. I was the first for Quinn. I took Quinn's virginity! How dare she accuse Quinn like that!

“I’m your mother, Grayson. I know you better than anyone. Trust your mother. Once she finds another man who can give her more money, she’ll leave you.”

I laughed. “No. I’m the only one who knows myself. You and dad are too busy with your own stuff.” Before leaving, I pulled out the fork. “And Quinn won’t leave me like that woman you’re so proud of.” I glanced at Kelly and felt satisfied that I had gotten back at her.

I finally left that damn dinner. But my mother’s last words made me boil.

"If you still defend her and refuse to date your family's choice, then I will not only destroy the woman you choose, but I will also destroy the career you have built. Remember that."

I smirked. Finally, I had the chance to say this after holding it in for years. I took a deep breath and glanced back, “dating your choice or dad will only happen if I become the heir. And yeah, as you can see, I chose my own path. So draw your own conclusions.”

Fuck! Shit! Motherfucker!

I don't know how many times I've hit the steering wheel. I still can't calm myself down. I really need Quinn right now. I can only calm down when I see her, really.

Honestly, I don't care about my mother's threats about my career because I built it from scratch. I'm much more concerned about her words about destroying Quinn.

Mom may have actually done it. And one thing she may have done was send the thugs who almost harassed Quinn. I'm sure it was my mother! Seeing how she insulted Quinn earlier and how the thugs dared to approach Quinn again, it must have been on her orders.

Seriously, I never expected to have a mother like her who only cares about herself and will do anything to control my life.

Fuck! And whoever told my mother about Quinn, I'll finish that person off. I'll make the person regret it for the rest of their life because they interfered with my plan to introduce Quinn to my parents. That person really ruined my plan, damn it!

Now I need Quinn. I need to at least hug her so I can think clearly to make new plans and calm myself down because I have to play again tomorrow.

"What the hell is this!" I slammed on the brakes when I received a series of messages on my phone.

Before opening them, my heart was racing because I thought they were from Quinn. But it wasn't from Quinn, yet it was about Quinn.

The anonymous number that sent me the messages mentioned that the voice and video clips I received were about Quinn. And the sender also wrote that if I wanted to verify the authenticity of these messages, I should go to the hospital ward where Quinn is being treated.
