Chapter 137 The Family I Have

Chapter 137 The Family I Have
Quinn's POV
"Knew what?" asked Dylan. He backed away slowly.
I let go of Grayson's hand and approached Dylan. "Dylan, this is something that just happened. You might be shocked, but please hear me out. Okay?"
Dylan glanced at Grayson and his parents behind me. "Are you hiding something from me?"
"No. We just found out, including your sister," Grayson replied. He then stood up and approached us. "You guys can talk about this inside if you're uncomfortable here."
"Are you sure it's okay?" I asked to confirm.
Grayson nodded slowly and smiled. "Of course. I'll explain it to my parents, and you can explain it to Dylan. Sounds good?"
"Yeah, okay. I got it," I said.
I then turned around. "We'll be going now for a moment."
Mr. & Mrs. Talon responded with warm smiles. Only then did I take Dylan to his room.
I was about to help him sit on the bed so his legs wouldn't get tired, but he stood up again.
"I'm more comfortable standing," he said. He approached the balcony and turned his back to me.
I squeezed my fingers and approached Dylan. I could feel Dylan's confusion. Even if I were him, I would also wonder why my sister had suddenly become different from me.
"Dylan," I called out, starting the conversation.
"I don't mind if this is about your relationship with Grayson, but if this is what I think it is..." Dylan sighed.
"I wanna know what you're thinking."
Dylan stared straight ahead. "I think you're not the same as me anymore. I concluded that from how Grayson's parents welcomed you with open arms. Before, they openly hated you. So I think the reason Grayson's parents are suddenly nice to you and me is because you may have become part of them."
"Dylan, I hope you're not mad about this. I had no idea who I was until that dream came."
"What dream?"
"The dream I had after the surgery, when I was in critical condition. In that dream, I met my wolf."
Dylan chuckled. "So it's true you're part of them? So I'm the last to know? Oh, of course, because I can't recognize each other like they do."
"Dylan, I delayed telling you, but that doesn't mean I wasn't going to tell you."
Dylan turned his face away. "Maybe you're starting to forget me too, Quinn."
"That's not true. I'll never forget you. Besides, what's wrong with being one of them? They couldn't choose their fate either. Neither do I.”
"Because they think humans like us to be inferior, not equal to their caste. To them, we are worthless souls. But it's different if you help them."
"I'm a hybrid, Dylan. I'm not a full werewolf."
"It's the same thing. You're like them now."
I tried to reach for Dylan, but my hand stopped in midair. "Do you hate all werewolves, including Grayson?"
Dylan exhaled roughly. “I hate those who have ever looked down on us. I mean, is it our fault that we were born different from them? It’s fate, but they worship that status just because they’re on the higher side.”
“Dylan, Grayson’s parents were wrong. But then I realized that they just wanted to protect their lineage. They’re not that bad.”
"Oh, now you can say that, Quinn. But you should know that even though they have the right to believe it, they don't have the right to look down on other species."
I hugged Dylan from the side. "I can understand your anger, Dylan. I'm not forcing you to forgive them."
"But I also can't consider them my parents because they're clearly not our parents. And I also find it difficult to forgive them for saying horrible things to you and making you a donor for their benefit."
I rubbed Dylan's back. "It's okay. I respect your decision, Dylan."
Dylan then turned to face me. "Are you sure they're sincere towards you now and not just feeling guilty?"
"Even if that is the reason, I believe everyone can change for the better. Everyone deserves a second chance."
"Not Owen."
I chuckled. "Yes, not him."
Dylan sighed deeply. "I never thought we were different. Is it possible that I'm not your biological brother?"
I hit him on the head. "Hey! I saw you come out of mom's womb! Don't just say things!"
Dylan backed away. "Okay, okay, I believe you. But how can we be different? Doesn't that mean that either dad or mom is a werewolf?"
"That's a possibility."
"Who do you think it is?"
"Honestly, I can't guess, Dylan."
"I think it's dad who's like them. While mom is a normal human like me."
I pointed at myself, shocked. "So you think I'm more dominant in dad's genes, who never even took responsibility for us?"
Dylan rushed over to me. "Hey, I didn't mean to make you hate yourself. It's just a possibility I can guess."
But even if it's true, it feels mixed up. I can't hate myself even if I hate him. On one hand, I also feel dirty because I have his blood in my body. But that's also fate, which I can't change.
"But honestly, I still don't understand why they get along. I mean Grayson and his parents."
"You wanna know? The explanation is very long and complicated."
"Yes, I wanna know what happened to them. Explain it to me, Quinn."
I repeated Mrs. Talon's explanation to Dylan. And from what I saw, Dylan seemed really shocked. He even shook his head. And now he was leaning against the wall, touching his head.
"Okay, I know their family is mysterious and very private. But from what you just explained, it's really mind-blowing!"
I shrugged. "My reaction was the same as yours when I first heard about it. But I also can't judge them because it's their choice. The most important thing is that they apologized to Grayson and fixed everything."
"Honestly, your boyfriend is very pitiful. Be nice to him."
I stared at Dylan sharply. "So now you're on Grayson's side, huh?"
"Huh? Not really. It's just that compared to Owen, it's better for you to put your effort into Grayson than him."
