Chapter 117 Falling Like The Stars
Grayson's POV
I headed towards Quinn, who was sitting on the couch. I had just come back from practice for tomorrow's home game. And I was drained. Not physically, but mentally.
How could I not be? Even though I told Quinn I would beat Hanz professionally, seeing that man's face made me want to punch him.
I'd be lying if I said I didn't hold a grudge against Hanz after what he did to Quinn. The way he tried to trick me by belittling Quinn was truly unforgivable. He should go to hell with his bloody manager. Ah, bastard.
"I'm home." I hugged Quinn. Not stopping there, I climbed onto the couch and lay down on her lap. It felt very comfortable and cooled my head a little.
"What's wrong with my big baby, hm?"
I leaned to the left and hugged her waist. I buried my head in her belly. "This big baby needs to recharge."
Quinn laughed softly. "All right, all right. Recharge to your heart's content."
Remembering that today was Quinn's first day at work, I immediately looked up at her. "How was your day, honey? Did your job go well? Are you tired?"
Quinn, who was embroidering, paused for a moment. She looked at me with sparkling eyes. "Today was very tiring. Seriously. But I'm happy," she replied enthusiastically.
I was carried away by her enthusiasm. "Okay, tell me what happened to make you so happy." I changed my position to lie on my back with my arms still wrapped around her waist.
Quinn looked straight ahead. Her smile reappeared. "It turns out that some of the customers are also your fans. They talked about our news and supported everything that happened behind the scenes. Basically, they are very happy that you finally have a woman that you can show to the public."
After telling me that, Quinn's cheeks turned red. Oh my god, it was so cute. I couldn't resist teasing her.
"I'm happy to hear that. Then what else happened?"
"Because I was so happy to hear that, I treated them. Oh, but I didn't tell them that I was the woman in the news."
I reflexively sat up. "Honey, you treated them with your own money?"
Quinn nodded. "Of course. Why?"
I immediately took my wallet out of my bag. I took out a black card and handed it to her. "Don't ever use your money again. Whether it's for shopping, treating others, or anything else, use this card. Save your money. Okay?"
Quinn was stunned, her mouth slightly open. And I held her hand to give her understanding.
"Quinny, I've been waiting for this moment for a very long time. Where I finally have the opportunity to make anything you want come true. One of them is with this card. I'm giving this to you not to belittle you or underestimate you. I just want you to have it. If you use it, then I'll be so happy."
I opened Quinn's hand and slipped the card into her palm. "Don't worry about how much you spend when you use it. That's my business. Your business is just to think of ways to spend it."
Quinn's eyes widened. "I can't spend it all, Gray bear! This card is yours, along with its contents."
"But now it's yours. Especially for you. I still have others. So don't refuse, okay?"
Quinn looked at the card for a while. And honestly, waiting for Quinn's answer always made my heart feel like it was about to burst.
But luckily, she finally nodded.
I kissed her lips. "Thank you, darling."
"You gave it to me, but you're the one thanking me," she muttered.
I chuckled. "You don't need to thank me. Just give me your love every day, that's enough."
Quinn shook her head. "I'll use it wisely. I'll use this card to buy household necessities—"
"No, you don't have to," I said. "I'll take care of the household necessities and the contents of the fridge myself. I already have the funds for that. That card is for buying whatever you want, not what we need. But, if you want to go shopping to cook for yourself, then that's fine."
"It feels wrong for me to use it, Gray bear." Quinn looked at me with a sad expression. "This is the result of your hard work. I feel like I would be taking advantage of you if I used it."
"That's exactly why. Because it's the result of my hard work, I want to give it to the person I love. And you are that person, honey. So don't feel bad or embarrassed. Just use it. I'll work even harder for you." I rubbed my nose against Quinn's cheek.
Quinn pushed my face away. "You're already rich without working."
"But I prefer money from my own hard work to money from inheritance."
"But I'm not even your wife yet. What if your mother finds out about this?"
I pinched her nose. "Just leave it. Besides, she can't control something that isn't her. So just relax."
Quinn looked at the card again. "This is the first time I've held it. It feels like a dream."
"Then dream sweet dreams, Quinny. I'll make sure no one disturbs your dreams."
Quinn suddenly let go of her knitting needles and kissed me. Her small hands cupped my face.
It felt warm. The kiss and her hands felt soothing. Even now, I no longer thought about that damn Hanz.
"I'll use it as best I can," she said after the kiss ended.
I smiled widely. I was happy because Quinn finally didn't refuse my gift.
The card was actually one of her birthday presents for the coming days. So if she accepted it, it meant she accepted my gift. I was even sure I was the first to give her a gift.
Don't get me wrong, I didn't want to lose to anyone, including Dylan. So I wanted to be the first to give Quinn a gift and wish her a happy birthday.
Basically, anything about Quinn, I wanted to be the first. Except, being the first to leave her when she needed someone. Because I wouldn't do that.
"Lie face down," she said suddenly.
Without asking, I did it immediately.
Quinn suddenly grabbed my arm. Her hands started pressing there.
"I'll massage you. You must be very tired. So let me give you a massage to relax your muscles. Hopefully, that way you and the team can win the next game."
I grabbed one of her hands and pulled her down so her body swayed downwards. Then I kissed her softly.
Quinn was like that, the type of person who had to return favours. But I didn't consider the card a debt at all. I gave it to her as a gift.
But what could I do? Rather than explain and cause misunderstanding, it was better to let her do it. I would gladly accept her massage.
"How is it, better?"
I nodded quickly. "Very relaxing and comfortable."
Quinn smiled. Her massage moved to my back. But before she massaged there, she pulled my shirt up over my shoulders.
When her fingers touched my back, I felt an electric shock run through my whole body. It made my body and my lower half tense up instantly.
"You can sleep if you're sleepy. I'll wake you up when I'm done," she explained.
I didn't respond because I was busy controlling myself. I mean, it wouldn't be ethical if she knew I was hard at this moment. I just didn't want her to think I was taking advantage of her.
"Quinn—" I called out. But I didn't continue because suddenly the front door opened.
Quinn and I both turned towards the source of the sound. We both froze.
My father, the man I only saw once a year, was standing there with a bag in his hand. His eyes looked at me and Quinn alternately. Then, not long after, those thunderous words came out of his mouth.
"Who is this underage girl you brought to your house, Grayson? Explain it to me and... fix your clothes!"
