Chapter 10 Addicted

Chapter 10 Addicted
Grayson POV

Wow!

I froze for a moment, realizing that it had been a long time since I got hit by someone.

The last time I got hit was by my father when I refused to be the heir to the company and chose my own path, as an ice hockey player.

So I was quite surprised.

Never in my life did I imagine that I would get hit by a woman, especially my own fated mate. Not to mention the punch I got for claiming my rights!

Despite that, Quinn's punch felt light as a feather almost unfelt because her hand is so petite. Instead, it felt ticklish.

Yet it seemed like Quinn got scared and regretted it, because after that she immediately bowed deeply. Followed by the endless apologies she then uttered.

"Grayson... I really didn't mean to. I'm sorry."

"Sorry Grayson, I didn't mean to hit you."

"My hands became too slippery from the oil, sorry."

And the last one really made me laugh.

"Did I get fired?"

Jeez, so from all those apologies, the point is that Quinn is only afraid of losing her job, not afraid about hurting me? Tsk, clearly money is her priority.

I moved my hand to touch her, but instead she put both hands and arms in front of her face, like someone blocking when boxing.

Oh shit! She thought I was going to hit her?

I wonder what kind of life she lived to mistake care for attack.

"I'm not going to hit you," I said in the coldest voice possible.

She finally opened her eyes but remained in the same position. "I thought you were going to slap me or hit me in the same place."

"I never hit women. I've already told you that." Then I removed her hand from her face, brought it down and held it with one hand. I used my other hand to hold her nape.

I press my lips to her neck. I sniffed her fruity perfume.

Quinn is different. While other women use perfumes with quite seductive scents, she uses perfume like a carefree teenager. But that's her uniqueness that I don't find in other women and it's one of the things that made me stay calm even when she hit me.

I licked her skin that is milk-white and silky smooth. Which made her squeeze my fingers that were tucked between her hands.

It seemed like she liked my touch too, so I became bolder to continue. I undo the first button of her uniform so now her shoulder area becomes more exposed.

I was about to start exploring that area but suddenly I smelled blood coming from Quinn.

Holy shit! I just smelled it now when I'm this close to her and when I'm so horny.

Oh fuck! No wonder she refused me.

She's on her period.

I couldn't continue. So I decided to leave without saying anything.

I'm really unlucky today. I must finish it by myself.

I grabbed a tissue from the front dashboard of my car to wipe my hands. After that I dialed the number of the hospital Dylan was treated because I saw Quinn's reaction in the recovery room.

I wondered if maybe someone was trying to hurt Quinn and it was related to her brother.

Someone answered my call a few moments later.

"I'm a guardian of patient Dylan. I would like to request this month's invoice for the latest payment. Please send it to this number. Thank you." Then I hung up the call as I didn't want whoever answered the call to know me as Grayson or it would be a long conversation.

One message finally arrived. It contained the invoice I'd requested.

Dylan's total invoice, which was supposed to be 0 for the next few years, this month came to 25,000 dollars?

That's not far off from the amount Quinn asked me when I offered her a permanent contract.

Geez. This is why she requested that much money. It wasn't to splurge but to pay for her brother's new medicine! The date on the invoice was the day after she came to the penthouse that night.

I totally misunderstood Quinn. I thought she'd dared to come on a rainy night because she wanted to take advantage of my desperate situation, so she'd asked for more than double what I'd given her the first time we met. But it turns out Quinn came because she really needed the money urgently.

Quinn isn't a greedy bitch. She wasn't doing all this for her own gains. But purely for her brother to live longer. Because her brother is the only family she still has today.

Dang. Her life is sadder than I thought.

Oh wait....

If Quinn is going to need that much money per month, doesn't that mean she will always need me?

So from now on it's not just me chasing after her because we need each other.

Yash! I should be happy. I know now how this works.

I just didn't expect this is what I got when I touched down at the restaurant one hour late from the invitation.

I saw Quinn still in her work uniform, drinking several glasses of alcohol playing the drinking game, Power Hour, drinking a certain number of glasses in one hour and the most wins.

Amazingly, Quinn only had five glasses left when I arrived while the others still had plenty left. And now all of them are empty.

"Let's honor tonight's winner, Quinn!"

Gosh. What's to be proud of about that?

But Quinn looked happy. She was laughing like she had nothing to lose.

Then our eyes suddenly met. She stood up, but then her body swayed and she fell.

I wanted to help her but... I don't know. Because there were so many people, I decided against it.

"Hey Grayson, please take Quinn home." The general manager commanded.

I pointed at myself. "Why me? You're the one who got her drunk," I countered somewhat annoyed.

"Because she's your personal therapist."

"That's right, it would be a pity for Quinn to go home alone."

"What if some bad guy wants to harm her on the street? And she's drunk."

Urgh. Alright! I'll take her.

Besides, as an adult, Quinn should know her limits and not just say yes when they ask her to. Because I'm sure this is their sort of orientation for new employees, no matter if they are girls or boys.

"Move aside." I pushed away one of my colleagues to lift Quinn's body. I carried her like a koala on my back because I didn't want her to throw up when I carried her like a sack.

Outside the restaurant, as I'm about to get in my car, I slap her butt to give her something to remember.

"This is the last time I see you drunk. Got it?"

Along the way Quinn really caused me a lot of trouble and embarrassment.

How could it not? She suddenly opened the window, yelling the whole trip. When I forcefully closed it, she suddenly burst into tears and wiped her tears as well as her snot on my shirt. Not stopping there, she also threatened to vomit if I didn't put her down.

Thankfully after lots of drama, I managed to make her tell me her address and stop acting crazy after kissing her.

Now she was even sleeping when I got to the area she mentioned.

I stopped the car after recognizing this area.

What the hell! This is the development area that was often reported on TV because some of the residents didn't want to be moved. Jeez, I never expected one of the residents to be Quinn.

And that time I asked her to come at almost midnight! No wonder she was sort of mulling over my request at that time.

Turns out this is pretty far away from the S-T arena or my penthouse.

Oh fuck I didn't know that.

This area is very quiet and seems to be crime prone as well. I even saw some drunk people on the streets like zombies.

If Quinn continues to live here and I need her every night, then it will be very dangerous for her. Yesterday maybe she didn't meet any bad guys, but no one knew what would happen later.

Damn!

Her innocent sleeping face really makes me feel sorry for her.

A girl as young, resilient, and cheerful as Quinn had such a hard life. It's like Quinn vs the world.

I didn't even have the heart to wake her up. She was sound asleep, even more so than that night when we shared a bed.

But I can't let her sleep in the car either. Her body would be sore, plus she has to work tomorrow. So at least sleeping in the flat is better because there's a soft bed.

So after looking at her and feeling sorry for her, I carried her bridal style. Because I didn't want to take the risk if someone suddenly attacked her from behind.

Being in front of me and in my arms is certainly better for her right now.

As if she wasn't done surprising me with her life, Quinn surprised me again with her flat which turned out to be very narrow, much smaller than my room. There's also a lot of mold on the roof that's not good for her health. And there's also no soft bed that I imagined, just a thin mattress with a thin blanket.

Even though this place is quite tidy, it can't take away the unworthy of staying.

I feel sorry for her. I regretted that I found her just now and let her suffer alone with this kind of life.

"Emm don't go...." Quinn squirmed in my arms.

"Yeah I won't go-"

"Dylan don't go."

Oh I thought she was holding me back.

I sighed. I slowly laid her down on the rock-like mattress.

And when I was about to stand up, my shirt was pulled from behind causing me, who hadn't yet regained my balance, to fall next to her.

Quinn immediately hugged my arm like a pillow.

I could tell she was doing it because she's drunk. Because when she was fully sober, she would never do that.

"Don't go Dylan... I'm so lonely... here."

The time she said that, I knew I couldn't let her sleep in this place anymore.
