Chapter 14 Chapter 14

Chapter 14 Chapter 14
Keal POV

"Leave".

The word struck me like a physical blow.
Even though she was just waking up, she could still command to a point. For a moment, the entire world seemed to tilt. My wolf recoiled inside my chest, muscles tightening as if something invisible had grabbed hold of him.

That had never happened before.

Not once.

I had faced Alphas stronger than mountains, fought battles that left entire packs shattered, stood against enemies who ruled territories larger than kingdoms.
And never–not even once–had my wolf stepped back.
Yet now......He did.
Just one step.
But it was enough.
My silver eyes narrowed as I stared at the girl standing in the center of the courtyard.

'The Omega Queen'.

She looked nothing like the legends has said.
Her dark hair was slightly tangled, her body trembling faintly like she had just woken from a nightmare. The power around her was unstable, pulsing wildly through the air like a storm that hadn’t learned how to calm itself.

But her eyes...

Those glowing silver eyes held authority.

Ancient authority.

The kind wolves were born to obey. My wolf growled softly in protest.

'Resist'.

The command echoed in my mind like iron chains pressing against my skull.

'Leave'.

Every instinct of my body rejected it.

I don’t bow to anyone and I certainly don't obey to strangers. Especially not a girl who looked like she could barely stand.

Behind me, my pack shifted uneasily. I could feel their reaction without turning around. They had felt it too.

'The pressure'.

'The command'.

One of my wolves lowered his head slightly.

Then another.

My jaw tightened.
"No", I muttered under my breath.

Their heads snapped up instantly.

'Alpha authority'.

'Mine'.

They obeyed.
But it wasn’t easy for them.
That alone told me everything I needed to know.

'She was real'.

The Omega Queen wasn’t just a story whispered around fires to frighten ambitious Alphas.

She existed.

And she was standing right in front of me.

Interesting.

Across the courtyard, Alpha Leonidas moved slightly, shifting the unconscious girl in his arms like he expected another attack.

Protective.

Possessive.

My lips curved into a faint smile.

Ah, so that was how things were.

"She’s not going anywhere",
Leonidas had said earlier.

My eyes flickered toward him briefly.
He looked ready to fight. Claws half extended. Shoulders tense. His wolf practically vibrating beneath his skin.

Yes.

Definitely possessive.

But that wasn’t the part that interested me.
What interested me.....
Was the girl.
The Omega Queen herself.
Even now, as the command still echoed faintly in my mind, I could see the truth clearly.
She had no idea what she was doing. Her breathing was uneven. Her shoulders trembled. And the power around her surged randomly instead of flowing with control.

Which meant she had awakened, but she hadn’t learned how to wield it.

Which meant one thing.

She was vulnerable.

My wolf’s growl softened into something else entirely. Not anger.
Not submission.

But interest.

Behind me, one of my wolves shifted nervously.

"Alpha...."

His voice was low, like he was being cautious of what he wants to say.

I didn’t look at him.
My gaze remained locked on the girl.

'The Omega Queen'.

A legend I thought was only a rumor.

The command still lingered in the air.

'Leave'.

It pressed against my
instincts, urging me toward the forest. But commands were only as powerful as the will behind them.

And hers.....

Was fragile.

For now.

I took a slow step forward.
The reaction was immediate.
Leonidas’ growl exploded across the courtyard.

"Don’t".

His claws extended fully now, his golden eyes blazing with warning.
Several wolves around the courtyard snapped to attention. Even the rogues shifted uneasily.

Interesting.

They were protecting her too.

The girl’s silver eyes flickered toward me again.

Unsteady. But fierce.

She lifted her chin slightly, forcing strength into her voice.

"I said... leave!"

The command slammed into my mind again.
Stronger this time.
My wolf snarled in protest, pacing restlessly inside my chest. The pressure increased. And for a brief moment, my instincts screamed at me to obey.

To turn around.

To walk back into the forest.
My jaw tightened.

No.

I didn’t kneel.

Not for anyone.

But as I studied her more carefully....
I noticed something.
The tremor in her hands.
The faint way her knees wavered, the way her power surged uncontrollably around her. She was pushing herself.
Far beyond what her body could handle.

My smile returned slowly.

Ah.

Now that was useful.
"You’re exhausting yourself", I said calmly.

Her eyes flashed.
"That’s not your concern".

"Everything about you is my concern".

Leonidas took a step forward immediately.
"Watch your words".

I ignored him.

Instead, I watched the girl carefully.

'The Omega Queen'.

"You don’t understand what you are yet", I continued.

"And you think you do?" she snapped weakly.

"I understand power".

Her silver eyes burned brighter for a moment.

"And I understand what happens to people who try to control it".

Another wave of pressure released outward from her body. Several wolves in the courtyard lowered themselves instinctively.
Even some of my own wolves struggled to remain standing.
My interest deepened.

Remarkable.

'Even untrained, her power could reach this far.... then what if was trained',I thought.

But she was shaking now.
Her breathing had grown shallow again. And the command pressing against my mind.... Was weakening.
Leonidas noticed it too.
His eyes flickered toward her briefly.
Concern flashed across his face.

"Sable", he said quietly.

So that was her name.

'Sable'.

It suited her.

Dark. Rare. Valuable.

My wolf hummed with approval.

Leonidas stepped closer to her.
"You need to rest".

"I’m fine", she insisted.

She clearly wasn’t.
Another tremor ran through her body. The pressure around us flickered.
Then steadied again.
She was reaching her limit.

I could feel it.

Which meant there was no reason to force this encounter further.

At least not tonight.

Battles were won through patience as often as strength. And patience had always been one of my greatest weapons.
I took a slow step backward.
Leonidas’ eyes narrowed suspiciously.

"You’re leaving?"

"For now".

His shoulders remained tense.
"Good choice".

My gaze shifted back to the girl one last time.
She was still standing.
Still staring at me like she wanted to prove she wasn’t afraid.
Admirable. But foolish.
Because fear would come eventually. Especially when she learned how many wolves would hunt her once the truth spread.
I turned slightly toward the forest.
My wolves immediately began shifting positions behind me. Preparing to leave.
But before stepping back into the shadows, I looked over my shoulder once more.
At the girl.

'The Omega Queen'.

And this time...

I smiled fully.
"You should run, little Queen".

Her eyes narrowed.
"Why?"

My voice dropped to something softer.
More dangerous.

"Because next time..."

The wolves behind me shifted restlessly.

"...I won’t be leaving without you".

Leonidas’ growl shook the courtyard.

But I was already turning away. The forest welcomed us back into its darkness as my pack moved silently between the trees. Branches snapped beneath our paws.
The scent of power still lingered faintly in the air.
I lifted my head slightly.
My wolf stirred with satisfaction.

We had found her.

Finally.

For years I had searched for the truth behind the ancient stories.

And now I knew.

The Omega Queen had awakened.
As the trees swallowed us completely, one of my warriors moved beside me.

"What now, Alpha?"

I didn’t hesitate.
"Prepare the pack".

His eyes sharpened.
"For war?"

A quiet chuckle escaped my throat.
"Oh, there will be war".

My silver gaze lifted toward the distant territory behind us. Toward the girl who didn’t yet understand how valuable she was.

But she would learn.

Soon enough.

Because the next time I
stepped into that courtyard..
I wouldn’t be leaving empty–handed.

And this time—

I intended to take my Queen.
