Chapter 165: Going Back Means Death, Better to Stay

Bill left with a puzzled look on his face, completely unaware of the conversation between GhostHealer and Harold. He had no idea he had just dodged a bullet, buying himself a little more time.

Jeremy had let him go, not wanting to tip off the enemy too soon.

Knowing that the Wilson family from Dawnwater Coast was involved was enough for now. Sooner or later, he’d pay a visit to the Wilson Mansion himself.

He needed to ask Harold directly why the Wilson family, who he had never wronged, would go to such extremes.

Talk about biting the hand that feeds you!

The Wilson family must be the epitome of ingratitude.

As for Susan and her two companions, they were incredibly grateful to Jeremy, who had disguised himself as GhostHealer, for saving their lives.

Jeremy looked at Susan and smiled, "I overheard earlier that someone wants you dead. If you go back to Dreamville, you're as good as gone."

Susan's face went pale. She knew that if they returned, they'd be quietly taken out.

She couldn't understand why her superior wanted them dead, especially in such a roundabout way.

She had always followed orders to the letter, never betraying her superiors.

Yet, here they were, being targeted for elimination during a mission.

Susan sighed, "You're right. The three of us have been abandoned."

ShadowCorp operatives being discarded like this was unheard of in the past.

ShadowCorp used to hold a higher status than the Inspectorate, with operatives having the authority to act first and report later.

But now, ShadowCorp had fallen to the point of being betrayed by their own.

There must be significant internal strife within ShadowCorp, with even the leaders having differing agendas.

Jeremy could guess why ShadowCorp wanted Susan and her team eliminated.

Maybe the high-ranking official who once appointed Jeremy as the head of ShadowCorp wanted to silence anyone who knew about it.

There had to be new developments within the leadership, forcing this person to eliminate their own trusted subordinates.

Jeremy said, "I have an idea. If you don't want to go back to Dreamville, you can seek out my student, Jeremy."

"Tell him I sent you. He'll take you in. If you work for Jeremy, I'll protect you. What do you think?"

Susan's eyes lit up. She had nowhere else to go, and returning to Dreamville was a death sentence.

Going to her father would only put him in danger.

At this point, she and her team had to consider themselves dead.

Their superior would assume they had been killed by Bill, not suspecting that Bill couldn't take down three Internal Force Martial Artists.

And Bill certainly wouldn't report today's events to their superior.

Following Jeremy would provide them with a safe haven. Even if they were exposed, their superior would have to think twice before crossing someone as powerful as GhostHealer.

Susan quickly said, "Mr. GhostHealer, we're in!"

The other two had no objections. Going back to Dreamville was a death wish.

Jeremy didn't want to see Susan walk into a death trap. It wasn't because she was beautiful, but because he genuinely needed capable people.

The old ShadowCorp was defunct, and Jeremy planned to rebuild a new, more formidable ShadowCorp.

Currently, he relied on Ophelia's bodyguards in Sunrise, but Susan and her team, abandoned by ShadowCorp, were better suited for the job.

After arranging for Susan and her team, Jeremy decided it was time to visit the Watson Mansion.

Appearing as GhostHealer, he would address the Watson family's genetic disorder, then GhostHealer would disappear, and Jeremy would reemerge in Sunrise.

At the Watson Mansion, an important guest had arrived!

Instead of GhostHealer, Marvin had shown up. Despite being over a hundred years old, he was still full of vigor.

Marvin was a somewhat famous figure, though most people didn't know his true identity. Living past a hundred was rare.

He was known as a local celebrity in Elysian Mountain Park, where he exercised regularly. With the rise of live streaming, many people had seen him online, making him a well-known figure.

Some even sought his advice on longevity, though those who knew his true identity kept their distance.

Marvin was approachable and got along well with ordinary people, but those aware of his capabilities stayed away.

Owen, a junior in Marvin's eyes, stood respectfully aside, as did the rest of the Watson family.

Marvin's word could cause major upheaval in Sunrise.

"Don't be so formal. It's been a while since I got out. With such an esteemed guest arriving at the Watson family today, I had to come personally to greet them," Marvin said with a warm smile, exuding a friendly demeanor. But Owen knew better. In his younger days, Marvin had built the Brooks family's legacy through ruthless means.

"Mr. Brooks!" Owen said, "You must have met GhostHealer before."

Marvin nodded, "Indeed, we crossed paths once. Unfortunately, we didn't get to talk. I wouldn't miss this rare opportunity today."

When Marvin was young, GhostHealer was already an elder, and Marvin couldn't even get close to him.

But decades had passed, and Marvin was no longer the man who couldn't face GhostHealer.

As the head of the Brooks family, he had honed his skills over the years, reaching the Half-step Innate Realm, which allowed him to live this long. Now, he wondered if he could stand before GhostHealer without bowing.

"Mr. Brooks, you're here too!" A cheerful voice called out. The head of the Sunrise Inspectorate had arrived.

Travis, in Marvin's presence, was just a junior. Marvin was from his father's generation.

When Ralph arrived in Sunrise, he had paid his respects to Marvin. Sunrise was the Brooks family's territory, and it was only proper to greet him.

Marvin had once held a high position in the Inspectorate before retiring to enjoy his later years.

Marvin squinted at the two men and said calmly, "You're here to join the fun too!"
