Chapter 40 - Lisa

My first year at college completely changed my life. I didn’t feel the need to study anymore, I realized that I wasn’t as academic in college, like I was back in high school. I realized I’d had to grow up in a short space of time, and find out the real meal. Especially, when I found out that I was pregnant.

Today’s Dane’s graduation day. I promised the guys that I would film every moment since they contributed to it, and couldn’t be part of the ceremony. Their mom came back, and we were sitting side-by-side as we waited for the graduates to take their seats and for the main event.

“You sure, that you don’t want to use my camera, hun?”

I shook my head, “No. I’m just feeling a little uncomfortable.”

She smiled. “Carrying triplets isn’t fun. Even if you’re only five months.”

“I know and in the next few months, I’ll be even bigger. I don’t even want to think what that means.”

She was going to say something, but before she could, announcements were made for us to be quiet, so the graduation ceremony could begin. Everything about them pretending to be three guys, and Dane graduating and being signed up by the 49ers was part of the plan. What wasn’t part of the plan, was having to look after three kids.

Well, Daxon had a couple of his songs sold, and they’ll be made into hits for sure. They paid him a six-figure sum for the rights for them, and Justin Bieber is in production singing one of them and hopefully it’ll be released soon. He could have had his name in lights too, but he realized after seeing his brother in the spotlight, that as much as he craved the spotlight in the past, it wasn’t for him.

As for David, he would be studying in Oxford next fall. Money talks. It seemed that Michelle, their mom’s time in London wasn’t only for the funeral, but to see if she could get some money out of their old man. They were never officially divorced and she managed to get enough money to get David into a college so that he will be able to go to university in London the following year.

Everything happened for a reason, and even though I hate the idea of him going, I would hate myself even more for holding him back. Besides, four years would swing by quickly. So, he has said so many times and there was enough money for him to come home during the holidays.

I was just thankful that we were no longer in the apartment. Dane managed to get us a house with his advance. Not a mansion, but baby steps and with Daxon’s advance, the house is more than we imagined it would be, there was enough space for us all to live there, including our babies.

“Dane Rogers, for his time at college, captain of the football team and for being an A-star student and no one knows how he did it all”

Both Michelle and I clapped, because we knew how we did it and I could tell as tears swelled in Dane’s eyes that he was sad that his brothers couldn’t be here. Someone would figure it out if they came, Fiona knew our secret. But a few months after Tanya told her to keep her mouth shut, well she had to drop out of college. Her dad’s business went bust and her fees were pending. She left quietly, and no one talks about her, everyone just carried on as if she didn’t exist.

Apparently, that was college life for you. Here, one minute and the next gone. I knew one thing for sure as the ceremony came to an end. My time here was the best of my life. Mom disappeared and dad was sentenced for fraud and wouldn’t be coming out for the next twenty years or more. Nan said that she would come and stay with me nearer to my sons’ due date.

At least she didn’t run out on me, if anything one time she told me that she was proud of me. Proud of the person that I’d become and the mother that I was soon to become. As soon as Dane finished, he rushed over to me. He kissed me so hard, and then all the butterflies and the kicks of our children started at the same time.

“I love you, Lisa Rogers,” he said.

I smiled back at him and said, “I love you even more, Dane Rogers.”

Oh, did I forget to mention? Last month we had a small ceremony and Dane and I are officially married, our babies are not only Dane’s and I’s but his brothers too. I’m married to one brother, but in a relationship with all three of them. I really got more than I bargained for coming to college and the future is going to be bright. I’m confident of that, and so are they.
