Yzabelle.
Why did he suddenly block our way?
What is your problem, brute?
I was about to ask but I realized he was actually waiting here, beside his car.
“You two don’t have thesis sessions tonight, have you?” Killian asked as if he was sure and was just confirming it.
I looked back at the exit gate. It’s impossible that he heard us from over there. That’s too far from here.
“Well, we were just talking about that. Yes, we don’t.”
Kate seemed too confused as well. I mean, she must be curious how Killian knew we did thesis work every night.
“Good then, let’s go, Yzabelle,” Killian said, making it sound as if it’s just a natural thing to invite me to come along.
“Wait, where are you guys going? And Yzabelle,” Kate turned to me. “You didn’t mention to me you are going on a date with him? You said you have urgent things to do. Is this what you are talking about?”
I could hear the disappointment in Kate’s voice.
I was about to explain but Killian did before I could breathe a word.
“No, we are not going on a date. We really have some urgent things that we need to look for at home.”
“Home? What? I don’t understand.” Kate was utterly confused. But she suddenly realized one thing. “Oh no! Are you guys living together? Was he the neighbor you are talking about, Yzabelle?”
“Well, ahm—”
“Her apartment door was broken, and she was staying in my place until it got fixed. And I don’t see anything wrong with that since I am his fiancé.”
I gasped loudly. Kate was dumbfounded. No one dared to say a word. Kate turned to me and hell, how I want to explain everything.
“You are Yzabelle’s best friend, right?” Killian continued. “I think we need a proper introduction,” Killian extended his hand in front of Kate. “I’m Killian, your best friend’s fiance. Didn’t she mention it to you?”
Kate accepted his hand, still dumbfounded. While Killian secretly grinned at me.
And how I wanted to slap him across his face. How could he do this to me?
“Nice to meet you, Killian. Be good to my best friend or you will have to deal with me,” Kate warned him, but I could tell she was dealing with great confusion as well.
Killian chuckled with amusement.
“That’s what I expected from a best friend though,”
He glanced at me with a smile. It was just then that I realized he was smiling brightly. It was as if his smiles could light up the whole world.
Nah! That must be an exaggeration but that was how I saw his smile.
I mean, why didn’t I realize that before?
Kate made a clearing throat sound and it forced me to cut the enchanting seconds of my life.
“You have a lot of explaining to do, Yzabelle,” Kate gave me a warning glance.
I knew the warning was meant as a joke but I also knew she was demanding an explanation as well.
“Oh, maybe you can do that tomorrow? We have to go.”
Kate nodded and waved goodbye to us. She continued walking towards the street to her dormitory.
I turned to Killian and glared at him.
“Why did you do that?” I snapped at him.
“Do what?”
He opened the passenger door to his car. For a wealthy heir, I didn’t anticipate him to drive a car like this. It was a luxury brand though, but not that flashy. But regardless, I am happy he did, we will not attract too much attention.
“You told her you are my fiancé,” I started nagging again once he was inside.
“Aren’t you? I thought you already figured it out. Wasn’t it the reason why you easily let me into your house?”
Of course that was one of the reasons but…
“You should have not told her yet. You see? She was blown away by your announcement.” I insisted.
The brute just shrugged it off. “What’s the matter with that? She’ll eventually know.”
“It wasn’t official yet. And also, I thought we were on the same page, hindering our families' plans?”
“Oh, well,” he did not continue.
I urged him. “Well, what?”
To my surprise, Killian turned to me, gazing straight back at me. There it goes again, a strong pull that I could barely explain.
“I am actually planning on announcing to the whole university that you are mine,” his gaze intensified. It made me feel he was penetrating into my soul.
“What the hell—”
“I have this feeling that someone is going to snatch you away from me.” His words made me speechless.
I mean how should I answer that? What should I tell him?
Good thing he started the engine and drove our way without a word. It was only then that I released a breath.
Ugh! I didn’t even realize I held my breath.
The whole short trip was silent. The only noise I can hear is the wild beating of my chest.
Why in the world did he have to put me into this kind of situation? Into this kind of mess.
How did he manage to make my heart flutter by just saying those words?
Damn! But he really did make my heart flutter with his possessive words!
***
Killian.
Fcking fck! I should not have said those words.
Didn’t I remind myself to continue doing what I did with my enemies before—'conceal my intention’?
Now, I wasn’t concealing it from Yzabelle. Even from the very first day we met, I never concealed my intentions from her.
Well, how could I do that? Maybe because I didn’t see her as an enemy. Not unless I remembered Seer Ronnie’s reading.
Should I still blame that on the mate bond?
Ugh! To hell with this mate bond! It’s getting on my nerves!
I secretly glanced at the quiet Yzabelle.
Oh, how I hated the quiet Yzabelle.
I didn’t like it when she behaved like this. I didn’t have any idea what she was thinking.
I hated this frustration that was building up in me.
I didn’t know why I was feeling this way. Since I stepped inside Brockton University, I started feeling this way—frustrated and afraid someone was going to steal her away from me. That was why I kept my eyes on Yzabelle.
Also, I could smell werewolf blood near our classroom. I just couldn’t leave my sight away from Yzabelle to find that wolf. I was sure there was one inside the university.
And if my instincts were telling me right, that wolf was going to be my problem.
