Chapter 43: The Talk in the Bedroom

Thorn rushed into the bedroom like a fierce storm. Leila turned around in shock. She was just about to change back into her usual clothing and was completely naked.

“Thorn,” Leila uttered her prince’s name softly, “What are you…”

Thorn paced towards her and suddenly picked her up, kissing her lips passionately. Leila felt his tongue, hot and wet in her mouth. “I missed you terribly,” Thorn said while taking off his clothes.

Leila was surprised by her own physical response. She felt her body uncontrollably thirsting for him. All her previous sadness and anger had vanished with his ravishing kiss. She remembered something and pulled away from the kiss for a moment. “But you’re poisoned! I was told that you can’t…”

“I’m fully recovered.” Thorn laid his lips back onto hers.

Leila decided to give in and put everything behind them. She completely indulged in the kiss and helped him take off his clothes.

Leila looked into Thorn’s dark eyes. She only sensed love, and felt like she was the luckiest girl in the kingdom.

They didn’t want to wait anymore.

Thorn slid his hand up her thigh. “You’re so wet…Can I…”

“Yes… Put it in. I want you inside me now,” Leila said as she laid down on the bed.

“Just do whatever makes you feel good. Relax.” Thorn kissed her eyes closed and gently caressed her back.

At the very moment, a huge green dragon circled around the Jubilee Inn. Dagen had flown over as soon as his golden knights sealed King’s Harbor. He had never felt his head aching so strongly. He needed to speak with Thorn urgently, who was in bed with Leila.

Dagen spotted his big brother through the window of their bedroom and flew through it recklessly. The whole room trembled due to Dagen’s sudden landing. He shifted into a naked, bulky man and stood before the bed, “Thorn! I need to speak with you!”

Leila was in shock, stopped immediately at what they were doing. Her face reddened like a tomato; she had only just had her last orgasm. She quickly hid herself under the sheets and looked at Dagen in surprise. Then she felt Thorn’s hand covering her eyes tightly. “Put that on Dagen. I have a lady here.” Thorn said, very unpleasantly, gestured to a robe hanging loosely in the closet.

“Erm…Sorry, Leila! I apologize!” Dagen immediately took the robe down and slipped into it.“Didn’t see you there! You’re too small…”

“It’s…it’s alright..” Leila muttered, realizing that was the first sentence Dagen had ever spoken to her.

“What’s the matter?” Thorn removed his hand when Dagen was properly dressed. He tucked the sheet more tightly around Leila and got up from the bed. The sudden appearance of his second half brother wasn’t totally unexpected. Remus had to take action in case his generous antidote hadn’t killed Thorn.

“Everything is a mess…” Dagen found it hard to breathe when he tried to organize all of the tangled information he had recently learned.

“One thing at a time.” Thorn lifted his brow at his brother.

“Father’s decree.” Dagen exhaled, “King’s Harbor is locked down. Mother was grounded.”

Thorn remained silent and listened.

“Remus is nowhere to be found. No sign of him in the sky either. The knights are searching him.” Dagen’s eyes drifted away from Thorn as he sat on a chair placed beside the flaming hearth. “Mother and Remus have been plotting against you and Leila. Please believe me, I had no idea…”

“I know,” Thorn said. He didn’t want Dagen to get involved; he saw everything in black and white, which wasn’t necessarily an advantage for a complicated matter like this. “You said Father ordered the capital be locked down.”

Dagen nodded.

Why now? Thorn frowned. This was too abrupt a move. Eros hadn’t even discussed it with him.

“And I learned something about your girl, Leila…” Dagen continued.

Thorn looked straight at Dagen, the mere mention of Leila’s name triggered his instincts. It was a sound that made his heart quiver, “What about her?”

Leila began to grow nervous as well. She didn’t like her name being mentioned in the same sentence as an order from the dragon king.

“I need to apologize to you again, Leila. I’d never intended to treat you disrespectfully. I just give Thorn a hard time… I never meant to target you.”

Thorn and Leila were both surprised at Dagen’s sudden and genuine politeness. But his next words struck Thorn like a bolt of lightning.

“I didn’t know that you were the lost princess of the Stormy Clan. I shouldn’t have…” Dagen’s voice quickly became muffled. The princess of the Stormy Clan? Thorn turned to look at the woman he cherished. He couldn’t believe what he had just heard. Leila was in a shock as well, but apparently, not nearly as much as Thorn. If what Dagen said was true, then Leila wasn’t a crossbreed at all; more importantly, his whole world would be shattered.

Remus had been flying with Amaya before they split off from one another. He wanted to pay Oliver a visit, so Amaya had flown back to the palace alone. To Remus’s surprise, this had unexpectedly provided him with a chance to avoid detection. Eros was locking down King’s Harbor, and Amaya was apparently caught the second she landed at the palace. A secret grand council meeting was immediately called at an extravagant mansion. The house belonged to a high-ranking master, name Lupin the Wise, from the royal court.

“This is totally unexpected! It’s not like Eros at all!” Lupin said hotly, “We need to get the queen out immediately, just in case..”

“Calm down. The reason for the lockdown remains unknown. Don’t start worrying yet,” Remus said airily. He had always been like that; no one could easily see through him. He came to the center of the room, among several anxious members of the royal court. “Your business with the crossbred girls is still safe with mother and me. No one will ever know that you all are involved in capturing, raping, and killing them…”

The room was silent, as they could feel the threat. It was the usual trick used by Remus and Amaya to control the court. Even though crossbreeds were the lowest rank in the dragon kingdom, murder and torture of innocent lives were still serious crimes. If their dirty secrets were revealed to the public, or even to the king, their high positions in the court would cause a grievous scandal for the royals. The court, along with the queen and Remus, wanted to avoid that at all costs.

“Then what should we do now?” Lupin asked worriedly, “Eros was never on our side, he’s still holding a grudge because we blamed him for the death of the previous dragon queen, Tora…”

“We didn’t blame him! Tora’s diary explained everything! She herself wrote that she believed and was in fear that Eros would kill her soon!” Another court member exclaimed, “It was the only evidence we found!”

“Enough,” Remus said, interrupting the arguments, “Now is not the time to blabber about royal history. We need to decide how can we turn this situation around.”

The room went silent again. Everyone looked around at each other, but not a single idea was offered up. The court was made up of old men, alphas and masters from a variety of important dragon clans. Most of them had lived a very long time, and weren’t fit to create new and practical ideas. Since the loss of their dragon spirits, their minds had grown even slower, Yet surprisingly, their lustful desire for beauty was not affected.

“I have an idea.” Remus faced the group. “Use your influence over your clans. Spread the rumor to our allies, that Thorn, the almighty dragon prince, has eloped with a mongrel and intends to leave the kingdom behind. Tell them the king approves of it. It’s sure to infuriate the golden and silver dragon descendants. Then, it will be the perfect time for me to take the crown.”
