Chapter 1705: Surgery Successful

We can only take things one step at a time.

Right now, the most important thing is to save Elmer.

"Natalie, I did something, and I don't know if it was right or wrong."

Natalie seemed to sense something.

Elmer had been lying in the ICU for a week. If he didn't get a kidney transplant soon, he would be in danger. But his blood type was rare. Not just in all of Vachilit—the Howard Group had used all its resources to search nationwide in a short time, but they couldn't find a suitable kidney donor.

And the person who matched Elmer's type turned out to be Jamie.

Natalie knew what Jamie meant to Rachel.

How could Jamie possibly agree to donate a kidney to save Elmer?

Ordinary people wouldn't do such a thing.

Let alone Jamie.

Jamie and Rachel must have made some kind of deal.

She looked at Rachel. "It'll be okay. Everything will be okay."

"I just pray that Elmer can wake up and be well." Rachel reached down to touch her belly. She forced a smile and said softly, "Natalie, I'm pregnant."

This sentence was only for Natalie to hear.

She looked at Rachel.

Rachel lowered her eyes.

"Natalie, I have no way forward."

The next day at 10 a.m.

After finishing his examination, Jamie was wheeled into the operating room.

He closed his eyes and waited.

The air was filled with the smell of disinfectant.

Jamie really disliked hospitals.

His birth mother had lain on a bed like this, been wheeled into an operating room, and never opened her eyes again.

His fingers were actually trembling.

No one knew, not even Rachel.

How terrified he was of being in a hospital, lying on an operating table like this.

In his ears were the sounds of doctors' footsteps, walking and rushing about.

After he signed the papers, the moment he inhaled the anesthetic, Rachel's face flashed through his mind.

Rachel, I'm trading one kidney for the rest of your life with me.

Even if you hate me, I don't regret it.

He didn't want to let go, and he wasn't willing to let go. He wanted to have her.

Even if it meant using the most despicable methods, even if it meant threats and manipulation, even if she would hate him more and more.

Elmer was also wheeled into the operating room, and the door closed.

The Howard Family waited anxiously outside the operating room.

Ruben rushed over too. Learning that Jamie had chosen to donate his kidney, his expression was complicated.

Ruben seemed to see through a lot as he looked at his only beloved granddaughter.

"Rachel, Grandpa will always support your choices," Ruben said. "The Howard Family is your strongest support. You can come home anytime."

Rachel's emotions were tightly wound. She threw herself into Ruben's arms and cried.

Time passed minute by minute.

It went on until the afternoon.

Adrian suggested that Ruben go back to rest, and they would wait here.

Ruben insisted on staying.

Inside the operating room were his grandson and his granddaughter's husband.

Both were close family.

A little after one o'clock, the operating room door opened.

Jamie was wheeled out.

Rachel looked at Jamie lying unconscious on the bed. His face was pale and weak, his eyes tightly closed.

He had just gone through major surgery.

At this moment, the man was sleeping.

Rachel pressed her lips together, watching as the nurses wheeled Jamie into a hospital room.

Then the operating room door closed again.

Another two hours passed.

Elmer was finally wheeled out. Everyone immediately gathered around. Rachel looked at Elmer with concern, and then Elmer was sent to the ICU for observation.

The doctor said the surgery was very successful.
