Chapter 149
Chapter 149
A/N: Don't worry! It'll get back to Kaizen soon, but they aren't here in this part. If you're curious, it starts in chapter 140ish of the High King's Bride. It's really good—like, some of my favorite chapters.

It was the new moon now…The witches did their rights, and now it was time for my tribute.
“My dear…. What have you done?” He asked now that we were in private. I stood with my head high, looking my mate in the eyes. We were in our bedroom, but instead of our usual rendezvous… we had a bit of a spit-spat….
One that was admittedly my fault.
“I unite the cosmos with love.” I said firmly. “If the war is to be over, then love should not have shackles.”
“Yet, if I pick up my trident, and he his staff, you condemn our generals to draw blades with their mates.” He said angrily, but he did not yell, nor shout.
Had I been anyone else, I don’t doubt that I would be at Least tortured. He’s been really into carving bones lately. I sighed. “Zuzu Eskaal deserves a mate.”
He came and hugged me gently, something I taught him. “I know your plan my little wife…. Interweaving all Hell and Haven will make it hard, too hard to detagle.”
“Yes… something that is needed. You know I am right.” I mumbled.
“You are…but I disagree. However, I cannot interfere… The Court of Love and Cycles is your domain…but the Night is mine…. Had he not slipped into another universe during our chase-”
I cut him off with a kiss. He leaned down, humming at me feeling his arms.
“And what would the worlds do without the Beast Prince?” I kissed him again. “Please let this go… let it go for me…”
“….You ask much little goddess.” he smiled, kissing me back before the room lost its light…. My skin illuminated the darkness, but not him… he was up to no good. “Oh I am up to no good.” He chuckled.
“Not a taste more until I have heard a decision.” I grinned, and he huffed.
“I will try to save the mortal’s life, or at least… hear him out.” He said kissing me on the forehead. “but I will not outright pardon him. That’s not fair.”
“But this is.” I reached in his robes.
My afternoon isn’t getting spoiled with drama.

I had my grandpups, all 4 of them. While their parents volunteered to help find Eskaal, I got to use them as an excuse to take a Damn Break. All Eskaal did was charge up Grahkes, and accidently make him a demigod…. And use time magic….
And still forbidden technology and disguised it as a car….
….and use Xaxas’s magic from his crown over the course of his Entire length of service. Xaxas said he thought nothing of such a request during the war, but he should have known better. He allowed it.
And apparently, cheat Dath by being alive as a necromancer. Asanguis is pissed.
I am too for all the trouble this is making, but in my opinion, he DID do this out of service… Originally would have surrendered if not for his mate. Well, the footage showed him panicking once he found out he had a mate, and worried for her sake. He took her with him, because had she stayed, she’d be in custody. There’s no telling what Arviel, Zuviel, Or Xaxas would do to her to force him to come back early.
They had some stupid game of chase, that if they caught him, they’d delete him… and he outsmarted them. That one was a surprise. The mate of Xaxas’s Top general was an angel. Hell’s news went wild with that, but we also told them not to go TOO far.
To say he’s an outright traitor without a trial would damn him. Demons would volunteer to throw him in the Pit.
Eskaal also prepped planets for we Three Princes… I have my own planet of people to protect… there’s statues of me there… which is still surreal. Before my mate, I was just a man. Nothing more. An outcast no less. A wanted criminal vagabond, one who if I killed an Alpha, it was just another murder….
The Beast Prince did that to increase my power, but I don’t want it if it means he will be beheaded. The biggest issue in all this is that I’m not high enough to change any rulings, but if I get a chance, I’ll at least speak up for him.
“Catch me grandpa!” Shouted Zolotos freaking out. The tiny rottweiler sized dragon dived and I caught him. “How high was that?!” My little gold pup was excited now that he was on the ground, since he didn’t like flying too high. Aureus said that’s his instincts, because young whelps don’t leave the nest if they’re born unshifted, not until at least 6, and up to 12.
“I’d say hmm…. 40 feet this time.” I smiled. “Want me to toss you?”
“Look grandpa look!” Yelled Aristaeus, Vexterios was already about … 200 feet in the air? They zip around as lightning up there, trying their damnedest to get Zolotos up there too.
“Cousin you will be fine.” Said little Lustros seriously, reading the book I got him about the Sun. He makes solar magic, and is immune, but Xaxas can’t teach him spells.
“See, you won’t get hurt. And if you fall, I’ll catch you.” I smiled.
“Really?” He asked about to cry.
“Always.” I gave him a good head pat before tossing him about 50 feet. I wouldn’t overdo it and make it worse. He giggled when he flapped gently to the ground, and I caught Aristaeus. He’d ran out of magic. Vexterios too, then Zolotos. They giggled while Lustros got up and closed his book.
He’s not serious all the time, but he wanted to aid his father. Usually, he’s a small child like the rest, but honestly, he reminds me of Caleb. Isabelle’s brother is also a serious man. Tyson is a stick in the mud at times too. Responsibility suits him.
They’re only the equivalent to five, not actually the age. Their minds haven’t yet caught up with father’s rushing. I’m still pissed about that, but I get it. The twins have mortal family, and if someone insulted my grandpups, I’d have killed that whole state.
“Bryson, lunch is ready!” shouted my mate. My wildflower had our granddaughters Samira and Willow, while Aureus was with Grace.
Granted, none of my children can catch him, so instead they search the cosmos as scouts. If they see him, they won’t engage, my orders.
I’ll not lose my family over this.
It’s strange to look for them, and see what they’re up to instantly…
“Come on boys; let’s get you cleaned up.” I snapped my fingers, and poof, they were clean.
/Ahem. You’re Welcome./ Said Ven.
/If I give you anymore credit than I already do, your head won’t fit in the house./ I chuckled
My wolf huffed, but with a snap of my fingers, and admittedly his aim, they were clothed too. He is my instincts given a mind, it was only a matter of time before he became the part that holds my magic too.
My little unicorn grandpup looked sheepishly at lunch, and it was then that my wildflower realized her folly.
“Oh sorry! I can make more salad!” She said in a bit of a panic, but Samira giggled.
“This is more than enough.” Samira smiled.
“Mama, I can fly to the store and get you some more veggies.” Offered Lustros.
“That isn’t a bad idea. I want all 4 of you to fly together and get Samira more veggies.” I smiled.
I cheated, giving Zolotos a feather fly spell I learned from Eternya. Seeing Lustros become a beam of light, the twins red lightning, and Zolotos a gold streak of lightning made me smile.
“I saw that.” Said Isabelle, calling me out.
“He needs the confidence. “I said watching them, and I helped set the table. We had salad ourselves while the little ones were away. I would not discuss anything serious right now… Not yet.
Xaxas appeared in a puff of black smoke. Harmony was with him, asleep in his arms. She was about ready to pop come Lunarween.
“We have his mate.” Zytherian appeared, Xaxas’s Herald. He is a dark skinned man with black locks. They fade to crimson, and have gotten so long now, that he braids them.
“Please tell me it was you who got her?” I asked.
“Yes your highness.” He bowed. “She is in Haven, at the Pantheon Throne Room.”
“Good. Let’s go.” I said standing. “Sorry.” I kissed my mate on the forehead.
“I’ll be there shortly if they mean to kill her.” She said with a frown.
“I won’t let them.” I said leaving. They Won’t kill that girl, she’s innocent.
We already know that.
But to make SURE I teleported to the pantheon’s throne room. Everyone was there, every god, even the most minor, even those who didn’t have seats.
The blonde angel was stoic, and held her head bowed. She was the Captain of the unit Arviel sends to subdue and investigate anomalies like what Eskaal did… and mother made them mates. Victoria of the Sun Chasers was in chains, though with magic, I loosened them.
“What are you doing!” Growled Xaxas.
“Being Fucking Civil.” I growled back.
“Thank you Bryson.” Said mother, coming off her throne to hug my neck. “This is my fault!”
“It’s nobody’s fault. You didn’t know Eskaal would do something so illegal.” I said kneeling down so she could hug me. I stood and escorted her back to father, who at least looked like he’d hear her out
“Now that we are all here, let us begin.” Said Arviel. “Explain yourself.”
She was silent, thinking about how she’d word it, knowing that their tempers were ready to flare up while I remained neutral.
“Eskaal bought a human from a meat market, and used her as the base of a grand sacrifice…..But that is not what you all want to hear, you want to know how a mortal not only escaped your grasp, but also attained the Last Secret…. He just…. He just did. His magical ability isn’t something I can rightly say I’ve ever seen… He accessed your console system, being its reformer…
