Chapter 36: my petty mate
Killian’s P.O.V.
“Let me take control, Velan.” I asked him again, filling irritated and angry with this sudden interruption, but Velan was now seething in anger.
For the first time, I let him take control because he was dying to be with his mate and these people chose this very same time to interrupt them.
(note for all the readers:- don't disturb a couple when they were having the most pleasure time of their lives.)
“Let me teach them a lesson first. How dare they mess with me? These filthy mutts. They got this time of all the time to attak,” he roared before leaping out of the balcony.
“Hugh, Lucifer. How did they enter the palace?” I asked them through mind-link in a cold tone, leaving Velan to do whatever he wanted to do.
“Someone betrayed us, my king. Those are not rogues.” Velan answered me, his tone angry and stiff.
Velan had already shifted into his lycan form, jumping down the floor, he grabbed all the ropes and chains thrown above to climb, yanked them away from the grill of the balcony and the walls, pulled them high, taking off guard all the lycans who were trying to climb the floor through those ropes and chains.
They had started climbing in their human form. To avoid being caught, they had masked their scent, and I could see through Velan’s eyes that they were climbing the walls using human’s method to keep themselves hidden.
“Fools.” Velan grumbled, leaping high in the air, raising his left hand high in the air. I saw their eyes widened in horror as they fell back.
They were so shocked to see Velan that they didn’t register their fall.
They saw Velan approaching them, his left hand held high, claws completely out, ready to thrust inside their fleshes.
They hurriedly pulled out their guns, making me roll my eyes in frustration.
Guns? Seriously?
“The assassins have guns and I am sure that they have a back up too. Seal the whole estate.” I instructed all the warriors through mind-link, almost roaring at them.
Velan killed a few in the mid-air, ripped their hearts out of their chest without any mercy even before their back touched the ground.
They started firing on Velan, but Velan dodged those with such as ease as if there is nothing dangerous in the air.
Still he caught a few bullets mid-way and threw them towards the balcony.
“We have tightened the security outside your chamber, my king. Please ask the queen to come out so that I can escort her to your chamber.” Hugh requested in a serious tone.
So, they were waiting for me to come out of my office or they had miscalculated something.
“This was a preplanned ambush.” I murmured, knowing very well who betrayed me.
“Secure the queen’s chamber, and find out where Hailey and Xavier are. Take them into custody.” I instructed them in a stern voice.
Bringing Pearl out of her chamber can be dangerous when we don’t know who betrayed us.
“They have placed a bomb in her chamber somewhere. We need to take her out.” Lucifer screamed at the top of his lungs.
“Damn it.” I cursed but I didn’t have time to think about how did I miss that?
I was in her room for more than half an hour. I should have noticed even the slightest weird voice. Why didn’t I notice anything?
I groaned and frustration and fueled Velan’s anger. They came prepared, I could give that to them, but they forgot they were dealing with a lycan king, not an ordinary lycan or a werewolf.
All of them were not lycan. They had a few werewolves. The warriors also joined the fight at one point, Velan was on rampage.
He ripped off their limbs, heads, whatever he succeeded to grab, broke all the weapons that they had when he was not using even half of his strength.
“Killian, hurry. She has blocked the mid-link.” Lucifer screamed at the top of his lungs, startling me.
I tried to mind-link Pearl too, but to my dismay, she had blocked mine too.
“What the hell is going on?” I roared aloud, shaking the whole structure of the palace.
Velan roared aloud too, and then started running back to the palace from where we could enter her room through the balcony again.
Hugh and other gammas had already joined the fight. So, leaving now was not a problem. Velan had already killed majority of them.
In two long leaps, Velan reached the balcony of her room which was on the third floor. He jumped over the grill and landed right in the middle of the balcony.
He stiffened and looked up immediately. My eyes widened in shock when I saw two bodies coming fly towards us.
Velan shifted his upper body a little to dodge the impact, and saw two flying bodies had widened their eyes in shock as they couldn’t stop the movement of their bodies.
“How dare you ruin my dresses?” Velan immediately snapped his head in Pearl’s direction and his eyes widened in shock.
She had changed her dress and now she was in a casual blue jeans and top, beating the third assassin to the pulp. The third assassin was burly, but was now writhing in pain on the ground, trying to get away from Pearl, but she grabbed his leg and threw him away as if she was throwing a pillow somewhere.
He screamed, and crashed to the wall.
“My portrait.” She roared aloud while running towards that man.
I immediately change control with Velan who was still shock. It’s not like I wasn’t because of course, I was.
That man was a lycan, and my little timid mate was beating him as if he was nothing but a rag doll.
I ran inside to stop her getting deep inside the room.
My breath hitched, and I stopped in my tracks abruptly.
In front of my eyes, she grabbed his fallen body by his neck, lifting him high while holding a detonator in her other hand.
“You filthy b**tard. How dare you thinking about ruining my chamber. Do you know how many efforts I put to decorate this place?” she roared while strangling him.
I sucked a breath when I felt the pressure of her power seeping out of her aura, but ran towards her.
“I got the detonator. Come to her room.” I instructed Lucifer immediately through mind-link.
“Pearl… give this to me.” I grabbed her arm, and was about to take the detonator from her hand when she thrust the whole length of the device in that man’s mouth. He had opened his mouth wide to breath while clawing her hands to get of her, but choked abruptly.
She punched the detonator, and to my horror, she succeeded pushing the device down his throat.
“What the f**k?” I exclaimed aloud, feeling so many emotions at the same time.
I was startled, frustrated, and shocked, feeling helpless and useless at the same time.
She threw him away in the room once again before I could even react.
“My vase!” she exclaimed in horror, running behind that flying body, but I grabbed her by her waist.
“Leave me….. my vase!” she thrashed her body into my embrace, scratching my hands in the process.
"I will buy you how many you want, princess. We need to leave." I coaxed her, but she wasn't having it.
She stopped when something shattered with a loud clank. I didn't know for whom I needed to feel sympathy right now.
My mate was a millionaire herself, and as my mate and my wife, she had endless wealth, and yet she was being petty over a vase.
