Chapter 82 Shaking
She didn't understand how or what was going on, but she was sure she had to get to safety.
Too scared to look, Isabella heard another gunshot, but she didn't know who or what it was directed towards because she went to hide by the dumpster.
Why didn't I take my phone, Isabella thought.
Still shaking from the reverberating sounds of the gunshot, Isabella wondered if she'd be able to report an emergency.
“Why did it have to be at such a time??”, Isabella asked, muttering to herself as she held the drug tightly.
Too shaken to process the smell emanating from the dumpster, Isabella heard, “Get down on your fucking knees!”
“I said give me all that you have or I will shoot your damned face!”, Isabella heard the burglar say again.
She peeped from the dumpster to see the man was harassing and stealing from a couple.
I honestly wouldn't want that to be me!, Isabella thought as she tried to sneakily walk back to her apartment unscathed.
I'm pregnant for God's sake, Isabella thought as she heard the burglar shout even more.
She looked around the street to see other people hiding, trying their best to stay out of harm’s way.
Nobody wanted to get shot!
She mentally commended those that had brought out their phones to call the police or whoever it was they were calling.
The tension loomed as a result of the burglar's voice and his actions intimidating the couple.
“Please we don't have any more. That's all that we have!”, Isabella heard the man say as he tried to shield his partner from the wrath of the burglar.
“You dare lie to me!?”, the burglar asked, getting angry.
Nobody would like to be in such a situation.
“Maybe I should have gone to get the drugs tomorrow!”, Isabella whispered as she shifted slightly from the dumpster and towards a corner.
I should have just dealt with the morning sickness, Isabella thought as the tension reminded her of Luciano's mansion.
She was shaken out of her reverie as she heard whispering from the other side of the street.
Isabella couldn't think about the help coming her way as she heard footsteps approaching where she hid.
She got scared as she saw the man making the call quickly cutting as he saw the masked figure.
The shadow as a result of the street light giving Isabella a brief idea on who was coming.
It wasn't hard to figure out as she saw the shadow pointing out a gun.
She turned completely, going into the corner, unaware of whatever was stored there.
The burglar was interrupted from taking his shot as multiple police sirens were heard.
As a reaction, He rushed towards Isabella, grabbing her and pointing the gun towards her head.
Isabella became very very afraid as she couldn't find it in her to struggle.
The fear of the burglar pulling the trigger overpowered her will to run.
She knew she couldn't make any rash decisions as she was now carrying her child.
Helpless and unable to make a run for it, Isabella stayed still, her hair rubbing against the burglar's mask.
His ragged breath smelled so stale, however, Isabella wasn't willing to take any chances with the psycho who held her at gunpoint.
The burglar dragged her to the open street, the police cars coming to a halt right in front of them.
At that point, Isabella's mind was flooded with what ifs.
Her motherly instinct had kicked in and she didn't want to lose her baby.
“Get back or I'll shoot!”, The burglar said, raising his voice even more as the police sirens became quiet.
The officers hopped out one by one, their guns in front of them as the burglar got even more threatened.
“Right! We've gone back!”, one of the cops said as they took careful steps backwards.
They recognized the burglar had held a citizen captive, it was simply wise to do what he said.
“We did what you said, you can release her now!”, Another cop said as he watched the burglar push the cold metal into Isabella's hair even more.
“Okay! Okay! Okay! What do you want?!”, The first policeman said, trying not to get Isabella killed.
My baby, Isabella thought as she felt the coldness of the gun.
“Drop your weapons!”, the burglar commanded, stating his conditions for releasing Isabella.
However, he didn't intend to.
The police men looked at themselves before they all dropped their guns.
However, the burglar didn't expect that he would be shot so suddenly by an officer who had snuck away from the police cars.
The burglar was shot in the hand which carried the gun against Isabella's head.
The pain which emanated from his hand caused him to release Isabella.
Like she had been waiting for it, she ran towards the police cars, but she wasn't fast enough.
The burglar had picked the gun with his left hand and shot at Isabella.
However, he didn't get a clear shot as the gun was shot from his left hand.
He did shoot at Isabella, however, the bullet grazed her legs , the impact caused her to fall face first on the tarred road, but an officer was just in time to catch her before she fell completely.
For a few seconds, Isabella couldn't process the location of the pain she was feeling.
She had thought the burglar had been successful in his aim to kill.
She literally saw her life flash before her eyes.
“Ma'am!, are you okay?!”, the officer asked as he saw Isabella's uncoordinated movements.
“Is she okay?!”, Isabella heard another cop ask as she was unable to register what was going on.
The shock was even more compared to the amount of times Luciano had shot someone right before her eyes.
For a split second, Isabella wondered if the burglar had been successful with his shot.
“My baby!”, Isabella managed to mutter as she heard the police officers communicate.
“She appears to be pregnant!”
“The ambulance is on its way!”
“She appears to still be in shock!”
“Handcuff him and ask him questions!”
“Ma'am you are going to be okay! The ambulance is already on its way!”, one of the officers said as he brought out first aid to tend to her wound.
“Do you have anyone we can call ma'am!”
Isabella heard the officers communicate as she slowly snapped back to reality.
“I I can call my friend!”, Isabella said, having no idea how to reach Celia.
She couldn't tell Celia's phone number off hand.
