Chapter 57 Hitch

Chapter 57 Hitch
The Don had literally died and came back to life

The door to the ward soon opened, the nurses carrying back the equipment they had used to keep The Don alive.

Quite worried that Andreas or anybody at all hadn’t gotten back to her, Madam Paula paced the living room, looking towards her phone as if it would prompt them to give her the latest news.

It seemed to be the case as her phone rang right after she turned her back to it.

“Hello!”, she said as she rushed to pick the call.

“Hi! Madam Paula!”, Andreas replied.

“Is The Don okay?!”, Madam Paula asked, the uncertainty getting to her.

“The doctors said he'll be fine ma'am!”, Andreas answered, still seated by The Don's ward.

“The doctors?! What does that mean?!”, Madam Paula asked as she hadn't been briefed on the situation.

“The Don was involved in a very fatal accident. His heart stopped a few minutes ago…!”

“His heart did what?!”, Madam Paula interrupted, getting Mia and Isabella's attention.

“His heart stopped beating ma'am, but the doctors were able to bring him back!”, Andreas said, putting Madam Paula at ease.

“Oh God!”, Madam Paula said.

“Now, we're waiting for him to wake up!”, Andreas said, keeping the coma part to himself in the meantime.

“Alright then! I'll bring soup for The Don later!”, Madam Paula said.

“Alright ma'am! One of the men will bring you here!”, Andreas said curtly as he cut the call.

“Ma'am! What happened?!”, Mia asked after Madam Paula had successfully gotten their attention with her screams and facial expressions.

“The Don was involved in a car accident!”, Madam Paula replied.

“Oh my God!”, Mia said in shock, Isabella watching their interaction quietly.

“Come, let's go make some soup for The Don!”, Madam Paula said as all three ladies headed back into the kitchen.

Was The Don’s accident going to make Isabella abort her plan?

Absolutely not.

Isabella had endured several mental and physically traumatizing events in the hands of Luciano for the sake of her family.

If I can look past my family, I can definitely look past a bedridden Italian Don.

That was literally the perfect time to leave the mansion unsuspecting.

No one would expect such a move. Thus, Isabella wasn't taking any chances.

Andreas hadn't wasted time in bringing out his tablet to start working!

There were literally no days off. Yes! Even in the hospital.

Already focused on the document he was editing, Andreas had no idea Giovanni was walking towards him with very unsettling news.

“Boss!”, Giovanni called out as he got closer to Luciano.

“Ohh Giovanni!”, Andreas said as he scooted, motioning for Giovanni to sit.

“Has the vehicle been cleared up!?!”, Andreas questioned.

“Yes boss! We were able to do some investigation on the parts of the car that weren't damaged by the fire!”, Giovanni replied.

“And…, were you able to get anything?!”, Andreas inquired, quite curious on what could possibly be the situation.

“Yes boss! Turns out the brakes were cut!”, Giovanni answered.

“What do you mean the brakes were cut! Alessandro still drove me earlier this morning!”, Andreas replied, quite confused.

“That's what we gathered sir! We still don't know if it was a mechanical failure or it was actually cut by a person.!”, Giovanni said.

“Oh my God! So it's possible that someone could have cut the brakes!?!”, Andreas asked.

“Yes boss!
We've already started checking the CCTV cameras from the mansion! It might take a while to completely gather something!”, Giovanni replied.

“Ohh okay! I'll be waiting for news then!”, Andreas said.

“I hope The Don is okay!?!”, Giovanni asked, peeping through the glass on the door to Luciano's ward.

“Yes he is!”, Andreas replied, contemplating.

“You know what?!...”, Andreas started, just as Giovanni stood up to leave.

“What's that boss??”, Giovanni asked, on his feet and ready to get back to work.

“Keep the results of the investigation between us!”, Andreas said in all seriousness.

“Yes boss!”, Andreas said as Giovanni turned to leave.

He had thought about Giovanni's report.

If the Brakes were cut, it meant that it was someone in the mansion who did it. Spreading the news will alert the person.

Keeping the reports under wrap would help the investigation go smoother, that is, if they needed one at least.

Coming to that conclusion, Andreas left his phone app as he had actually Intended to call Luciano's uncle.

We'll keep it under wraps in the meantime.

Andreas went back to what he was doing, registering that the fourth hour had passed since Doctor Luca told him about Luciano possibly going into a coma.

Going through his mails, Andreas saw Mr Morales’ proof of payment of five million Euros.

I wonder where they're getting the money from, Andreas thought as he calculated the amount they had managed to deposit out of the full debt.

Not bad, he thought as he scrolled through other notifications.

Madam Paula and Mia soon arrived, bringing soup in a thermos flask for The Don.

“Are you okay?!”, Mia asked, as she came to sit beside Andreas as Madam Paula cleaned up The Don.

“I’ll be fine!”, Andreas replied, clearing his throat as he tried to ignore the giddy feeling.

He had admired the lady for a while, but such a bold move was rather unexpected. It made him feel all nice inside.

“Okay! Do you know if The Don will be okay?!”, Mia asked in a coquettish voice.

“Yeah he will!”, Andreas simply said, his answer quite bleak as he didn't have anything much to say.

“Okay! I'll go assist Madam Paula now!”, Mia said standing up to leave.

Such great company, Andreas thought as the fatigue started to get to him.

The ladies left soon after as Madam Paula still had to cook for the guards on duty.

Andreas entered Luciano's room, proceeding to take a short nap on the couch provided in the ward.

Andreas would have never expected Luciano would wake up minutes before the five hour mark.
