Chapter 32 Stirring
“Is there a problem?!”, Luciano asked as he watched her reaction to his voice.
She seemed to be unsure of what she was about to say next.
“No, no sir, I just have a question!”, Isabella said, wondering what could be the outcome of asking about her father.
“Can I talk to my family?!”, Isabella asked.
Luciano just simply looked at her, realizing his concern was becoming more of reality than a mere thought.
Isabella watched him intently as he drank several gulps of water.
She let out a deep breath, wondering why the man just liked to keep the suspense.
“Sir?!”, Isabella called out, it looked like Luciano wasn't about to answer her till she urged.
“There will be no form of contact until your father can pay the sum of two hundred million Euros in full!”, Luciano finally said.
His sentence caused a lump to form In Isabella's throat.
“But, but sir?!”, Isabella refuted, the sound of her voice only wanting Luciano to engage in a dialogue with her.
He intended to hold the conversation for a while, however, he already knew what he wanted.
He wasn't going to facilitate any communication between Isabella and her family.
“Can I help you?!”, Luciano asked, his green eyes maintaining eye contact with Isabella.
“It's just that…!”, Isabella started, wondering how to possibly place her words.
“There will be no contact!”, Luciano said, subtly reminding her.
“Yes sir! But, can I know the status of the debt? Have they been able to pay any amount?!”, Isabella said, voicing out her concerns.
It would be better if she knew the status, so she could calculate it herself. This would give her an idea on when she could possibly leave.
The thought of that gave her a little hope, as she did that, she would be able to look forward to leaving the mansion.
Luciano on the other hand didn't have any intention of letting his new found amusement go so easily.
Thus, he lied to Isabella, to her very eyes.
“No, they haven't paid a dime!”, Luciano answered, shattering Isabella's spirit.
She had simply hoped, however, it didn't look like she was getting out of the mansion, or away from The Don anytime soon.
“Okay sir!”, Isabella said, going forward to pack the used plates and head back to the kitchen.
Luciano watched her expression go from expectation to sadness, her actions involuntarily making him want more of them.
He watched her leave, closing the door behind her.
Why he lied?!
Luciano had an idea but wasn't willing to embrace that reason, thus, he didn't even know.
Said concern he felt earlier coming back again.
Isabella on the other hand became quiet for the rest of the day as she hadn't gotten the news she had expected.
She had been disappointed again, thus, she was to stay in the mansion.
Isabella looked at the walls of the kitchen as she did the dishes silently. She wondered how long she would be there for, how long she'd be away from her family.
It was becoming rather lonely.
She started having thoughts to escape again, but the hope those thoughts brought were quickly shattered by what Luciano could do to her family.
As Luciano had told her that her family hadn't paid a dime, Isabella wondered if they were having a hard time trying to raise the money or if they had forgotten her.
These thoughts remained in her head as she decided to go about the chores alone.
Doing the chores alone meant she had no one to talk to, it might be exactly what she needed to clear her head.
‘I might as well do my job well!’, Isabella thought as she went on to do the chores.

Finishing up with rearranging the pantry, Isabella grabbed the bucket and headed to the yard.
It was a big one, thus, it meant they had to clean it twice a week because of the different species of leaves that kept falling.
Isabella had no idea she was about to be traumatized yet again despite the array of thoughts in her head.

The bunker in the store was suddenly opened, yet it hadn't been opened by a guard, Andreas or Luciano himself.
It turns out the screaming Isabella heard a couple of days ago wasn't wishful thinking.
There was an actual man screaming in Luciano's basement turned bunker as he was being tortured.
The low profile private detective had been caught snooping in one of Luciano's operations.
He was transferred to the bunker because he had very useful Intel which he wasn't willing to give up, Yet.
He had been moved to the bunker in Luciano's mansion in the dead of the night, when none of the staff were awake to wonder what was going on.
After several tools had been utilized, he had already given up some of the information, the torture programme implemented already breaking his spirits.
He didn't know how else he was going to resist them order than getting away.
‘Safe house!’, he thought one day as he caught a glimpse of one of the guards pressing several buttons to open the bunker.
Despite the pain he was going through, he had gotten accustomed to the routine, an integral part of his half baked escape plan.
It was a blank window that certain day, where all of the guards would leave at once after they'd try to get answers from him.
To make the pain not so much, he had given them some not so useful answers. It was enough for them to leave him alone for that day.
With a black eye, he watched the guards input the pin as they climbed a ladder and left the bunker through it.
“Good!”, he said out loud as he saw the pin that opened the hatch still hadn't changed.
He quickly dislocated his thumbs to get out of the zip cuffs, loosening the ropes around his legs as he quickly stood up.
He had to leave quickly!
