Chapter 16 His Arrival
The lights!
The activity in the house!
The vehicles!
It could only mean one thing!
The realization hit Isabella so fast that her breathing became heavy.
A pair of green eyes flashed in her head as the vehicles approached the main gate.
‘oh no!’, Isabella thought as it finally came crashing on her that she had been taken by Luciano, and he could do whatever he wanted with her.
The heavy breaths continued as she paced the room, wondering just how she'd react.
“Should I go downstairs?!”
“Will I be the only one downstairs?!”
“Should I just stay upstairs?!”
“What if I pretend like I'm sleeping?!”
Isabella thought as she ran to her bed, quickly pulling the blankets to her neck, cold sweat breaking on her forehead.
“How stupid!”, Isabella thought out loud as she quickly stood up from the bed.
“Oh God!”, Isabella said as she heard people come into the house.
She started pacing the room, she finally decided to wear her uniform like she would wear it on a normal day.
She straightened the wrinkles that had come to form on the uniform as she took heavy breaths.
Isabella gave herself a little pep talk.
She prepared her mind to remain steadfast, just like she had been throughout her stay in the mansion, before Luciano arrived.
“I can do this!”, Isabella told herself finally as she slapped her cheeks gently.
She looked at the wardrobe, shaking her head as she dispelled the thoughts of hiding there.
“I can do this!”, Isabella repeated.
She walked towards the wooden door, opening it to see Mia just about to knock.
“Madam Paula requests your presence…!”, Mia drawled as she grabbed Isabella's hands.
“... don't panic but The Don is around!”, Mia said, awaiting Isabella's face to break into a sad expression.
“I know!”, Isabella said as her heart skipped a beat, yet, her calm facade remained.
“What?! You know?!”, Mia asked, surprised by her demeanor.
“Come on! Let's go!”, Isabella said as she approached the living room.
“How did you know The Don was back?!”, Mia asked, quite confused. To her knowledge, Isabella had been in her room for quite a while.
“I saw the lights from the cars through my window!”, Isabella answered.
Mia quickly remembered the outlay and function of the room Isabella was staying at.
“Well… okay! The boss is a nice man anyways, so there's no need to be nervous!”, Mia said, Isabella blinked rapidly as she tried to stomach what Mia was telling her.
She wondered if it was the same guy that threatened her family's peace!
“Come on!”, Mia urged as they approached the living room.
There were men in and outside of the house! It was no surprise as they had just come back from a trip.
Isabella wondered how long they'd stay or if they were to cook for all of them.
Isabella followed Mia to the kitchen, her eyes scanning the living room and the hallways for the green eyed man that was allegedly “nice”
Seeing the man who followed him around in a suit, Isabella looked around him, wondering where The Don was.
Isabella followed Mia to the kitchen, as food was being made for The Don upon his arrival back in the mansion.
She soon heard some vehicles going back outside of the gate, however, she could not express her confusion because she was slicing vegetables.
Despite her confusion, one of her unasked questions was answered. They weren't cooking for the men.
Isabella wondered if The Don had been in any one of the vehicles that went out of the main gate.
Regardless, she couldn't linger much on the thought as she was supposed to be working.
Luciano on the other hand had been in the vehicles that entered the main gate, however, he didn't go inside the mansion directly.
He had walked around the mansion, doing routine checks and making sure the security was not slacking.
As expected, everything was how it should be, thus, he entered the mansion through the back door.
He went up to his room, texting Andreas that he wanted dinner served in his room.
\~~~
Isabella was rather shocked to hear Andreas say The Don requested dinner in his room.
It was rather unexpected to Isabella considering she would have heard The Don walk in.
“Isabella!”, Madam Paula called as she got the plates of food onto two trays.
“Yes ma'am!”, Isabella answered.
“You and Mia would take this up to The Don’s room. However Mia would come back to do the dishes! I don't want you breaking any more plates!”, Madam Paula said as she whispered the last sentence to herself.
“Ma'am?!”, Isabella asked in question.
“Nothing! You'll stay there in case The Don needs anything else!”, Madam Paula said in conclusion.
Madam Paula's sentence Invoked fear in Isabella's heart as she dreaded staying in a room alone with The Don himself.
‘What if he kills me?!’
‘That man scares the daylights out of me!’
‘I don't want to faint in there!’
“Isabella!”, Madam Paula called out as she passed a tray of food to her.
“Be careful!”, Madam Paula said sternly.
“Yes, Yes ma'am!”, Isabella said as she wondered why Madam Paula was being like that.
“Go on!”, Madam Paula said as they left the kitchen.
The parts of the house where Luciano stayed were parts that weren't her business until otherwise.
Thus, Isabella had steered clear from the area.
She had listened and hadn't gone around snooping in the area.
After all, it was better to be safe than to be sorry.
Mia led the way to Luciano's room, Isabella being stunned again by the artwork that decorated the place.
She wondered how his room would look, ‘black like his heart!’, she thought as they came to the front of a black door.
Mia knocked twice before they heard Luciano's deep voice say “come in!” from a distance.
Isabella's heart started to beat faster in fear of how she would be treated.
They entered the room, Isabella using her leg to close the door behind her.
To her surprise, the room wasn't just black in color, it was black, gray and white, but the gradients were thought out and beautiful.
She approached the dining table in the room, using the opportunity to briefly scan the room. It looked more like a whole living space than it did a room.
There was a dining table with four seats, a fully furnished living room, and then there was another door that Isabella had no idea where it led to.
