Chapter 9: Just another broken night
ELARA POV
“Me? Why? I don't want to. Why do I have to be the one to do it?" I protested, shaking my head violently in disagreement.
“Elara, you were asked to do it or your wages would be deducted,” Mira said, looking at her sadly with her eyes wandering around in worry.
Mira left immediately and they heard footsteps approaching the kitchen. But it stopped almost immediately as if the human have thought against entering the kitchen. I breathed out in relief, fearing it would be Gina the boss who never seem to stop taunting her about how miserable her life was.
“And what are you still doing here?" Gina asked as she abruptly opened the door with a scorn on her face.
“I'm sorry, I was trying to get the…” I got interrupted by her hissing as she walked away without listening to what I was about to say.
I rolled my eyes as I walked over to the business gala hall, breathing in before I walked through the door. Making sure I shut it to avoid getting any query, as most guests here are people trying not to be seen by others.
The guest was standing beside the window, with his face bowed down as he was fully engrossed on sipping the wine and his phone.
He turned while I was setting the table. And I popped the wine, but getting lost in my thoughts again.
My hands slipped and the whole contents spilled on his tuxedo, I gasped rushing over with the blankets to wipe it.
The crowd turned looking at me, with mixed expressions, some were pity from the men and a mischievous glints from the women. Yo be precise, women who liked him. All.
Without thinking about the spot where it was spilled, immediately I noticed it was his crotch, I pulled back my hand back with fear and apprehension about his next course of actions.
“I’m very sorry, I would wash it off immediately.” I said, kneeling. Gina would kill me if it comes to her hearing that I ruined a guest dinner and stopping her from getting a handsome tip.
“Hm." He said, and I looked up. My breath got hitched in my throat, I never knew he looked this way. He was dead drop handsome, making me feel like trash in his presence.
Oh no! Gina would be more annoyed, he is the type of man that she would literally bowed down to.
Ice gray eyes. Tall. Well sculpted body and chiseled jawline. Handsome and wealthy. Yeah, life is really unfair for giving him every thing.
Gina walked in as she had been informed of what happened, she looked with me with more hatred than ever. I didn't need to be told to leave, I nodded bowing my head as I left the silent hall.
“The manager want to see you. Please take your tray." She said, gritting her teeth as she was trying to keep up a presence with the guests to avoid bringing up a bad reputation.
I nodded without turning back as I turned the knob with pain in my heart, more pain than I have ever known.
“What are you doing? Why do you have to always be the one to ruin the night? Not anyone else but you! That's it. You are fired." Margot Levine said, she was the boss and I couldn't argue but I wished I could say anything or something.
"Please. It wasn't intentional, and the man in question wasn't annoyed or flared up. What if I begged him? Would you let me stay? I have a sick brother and a younger sister to fend, I don't have any place to go to.”
“I wished I can help you for real, I can see how hard you are working to fend for them. And taking this job away from you would be the cruelest I have done, but my hands are tied.
Orders from above. I tried reasoning with her, but she was hell-bent on teaching you a lesson," Margot said, looking away as her eyes started tearing up.
I knew Gina wanted to take me out since I made a remarkable decision when the food management agency came to the hotel.
Gina have made it her self burden to make sure she have a bearing to take me out of the hotel, and my clumsiness have given a reason for it.
“It's fine. I know you tried your best. I would leave immediately to avoid getting you into any trouble," I replied, smiling as I walked out of her office immediately to avoid been seen by Gina.
Her scorching words would break my heart.
“I warned you to be careful, Elara. I did, why? How would you fend for your younger siblings now?" Mira asked, looking at
me with confusion in her eyes.
She was already crying, she understood how hard it was for me to even get this and now I was losing it despite her warnings.
“Don't cry, I would find a way to sort myself. I would, I have to leave now." I whispered, rushing out of the changing room with my eyes searching around for any sign of Gina.
My chest heaved down in relief when I left the hotel environment, far away from her. I trudged back home, making sure to look around for a job. Anything! Anywhere. I don't mind.
A car swerved startling me for a second as I held my chest, waiting so I could cross the road. But it stopped directly in front of me.
“Enter!" The driver said. And I frowned, rolling my eyes. He must be thinking I'm like other women who would follow him due to how expensive his car looks.
“No!" I said, making to turn around, the back window slid down and I saw the man I s
pilled a drink on looking at me with amusement dancing in his eyes.
“Will you enter now? Or do I have to force you?”
