Chapter 8: Chapter Eight

'Bast! Are you still there? I know you don't have the balls to actually do it.' Val's message pulled me out of my thoughts.

'No, I was thinking.' I typed back to her, then sent another message: 'Val, seriously what should I do? I feel so bad!'

'Bast, why do you refuse to be with him? He's sexy as fuck, rich as fuck, and for some reason he is heads over heels for you!'

I started to respond, but her next reply stopped me in my tracks.

'Climb that tree of a man, Bast. Fuck him until you can't think straight. Lord knows you need to stop thinking already. Then fuck him again until all 20 of those years of pent-up energy are gone, and if he can go again, which I'm betting he can, keep fucking him. Then after, when y'all are done being all cute and shit, DETAILS BITCH!'

I gaped at the screen for a moment, my eyes open wide as I read what she said, over and over again. I couldn't believe Val said that. Well I could believe it, but I didn't want to.

'I don't refuse to be with him Val. It's just, whats left after sex? I don't know anything about him! I know I'm attracted to him, yes, obviously. But attraction will only go so far when I have to spend the rest of my life with him. I want to feel something for him other than sexual. What if after sex, he decides that he wasted nearly 20 years on something that wasn't worth it? You have no idea how much that would destroy me.'

"That won't happen, kitten. Is that what you've been afraid of this whole time?" Damien's suddenly said in my ear. I hadn't noticed him walk over to me, and I definitely didn't notice when he bent down to read what Val and I were talking about, despite the fact that his face was right next to mine.

I couldn't help the small squeak that escaped when I heard his deep voice, right in my ear. "How long have you been there?" I whispered, breathing heavily.

"Not long, but I'm a quick reader." He said as he spun my chair around, so we were face to face "Is that true? What you told Valerie?" He asked me, kneeling in front of me, so I didn't have to crane my neck to look up at him.

I nodded softly, unable to find the words to speak.

"You think I would wait this long for you, do everything I have done for you, just to decide I don't want you anymore?" He asked me softly, the hurt in his voice apparent.

"I wasn't trying to hurt you again, I was just being honest." I whispered, looking down at my legs.

"I understand, kitten. I get why you've been acting this way around me now." He said with a slight smile in his eyes, like he was happy about it.

"Why do you seem happy to know this? Aren't you still upset with me?" I asked him, daring to glance into his eyes. His usually terrifying eyes were now soft as he allowed himself to smile, showing his perfect white teeth.

"I'm happy to know that you care enough to try to make this work. That means something to me, and you should know that I want to do the same. Granted, I know that I want you by my side, but I'm willing to do what it takes for you to come to the same conclusion." He said as he leaned forward, and kissed me softly on the lips.

I sighed in relief as I put my arms around his shoulders and kissed him back, letting myself rest against him. He groaned as he put his arms around me, pulling me to the edge of my chair as he explored my mouth with his tongue. I felt my heart rate increase as we began kissing harder, with more passion than ever before. He put one hand on the back of my head as he leaned into me, forcing my chair to lean back against the desk, his other hand making its way down my back until it reached just under my thigh. He broke away from our kiss long enough to let me catch my breath.

When my breathing was back to normal he slowly started kissing down to my neck, hovering at the side, before flicking his tongue over it, sending waves of excitement and surprise through me. "Will you?" I whispered, tilting my head to the side, showing him I wanted it.

"Not yet, kitten. Not until you've made your decision." He whispered against my neck, nuzzling his nose against it before pulling back to look at me.

"What decision?" I asked, curious.

Before he could answer me, the door to his office suddenly swung open, and a beautiful blonde walked in. She was wearing an impossibly tiny skirt, with a button-up dress shirt, the first couple of buttons were undone, showing off her cleavage. Her long blonde hair ended just past her shoulders, seemingly emphasizing her already obviously big chest.

Her bright blue eyes were huge as she looked back and forth from Damien to me, looking at the way he was kneeling on the ground, between my legs. The way we were looking at each other, and the way he was holding me.

"Who the hell do you think you are, walking into my office uninvited?" Damien snarled as he stood and took a step towards her.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Edge! I didn't think you would mind. I'm your new assistant, today is my first day." The woman responded, smiling brightly, showing off her perfect white teeth behind her bright red lipstick.

Damien was speaking to the woman with his normal emotionless face, but I could see the disdain in his eyes as he looked at her tiny skirt and unbuttoned shirt. "Do you always show up on the first day of work, dressed like a shameless harlot?"

She looked shocked at his response, it was obvious that she thought his reaction would be the exact opposite to her exposed skin, and beautiful face. "I'm sorry, Mr. Edge, I'll dress more appropriately tomorrow." She said, trying to act like she wasn't disappointed with his rejection. "Oh, my name is Dana, Mr. Edge it's a pleasure to meet you." She said, closing the gap between them and holding out her hand.

He looked at her hand and sneered "Why are you still in my sight, Dana?" He said, spitting her name out like it tasted bad in his mouth.

Dana looked past Damien, at me, then back at Damien with a nod. "I understand why you are so upset, Sir. I didn't mean to ruin your breakfast."

Before either I or Dana could blink, Damien had her against the wall, holding her up by the throat. He was squeezing her so tightly that in only a second, her face was turning purple and her eyes were starting to bulge. "What did you just call her?" He growled, his fangs fully elongated and his eyes blood-red.

"Damien!" I exclaimed as I ran to him and grabbed his free hand "Please don't!"

"Bast, this woman has insulted you, and for that she deserves to die. Just like the shameless slut she is." He said, looking down at me.

"I don't want you to kill anyone for me, Damien." I said as I looked at Dana, her eyes were beginning to close, and she had stopped gasping for breath. "Please, Damien. I can't have that on my conscience."

He nodded as he squeezed my hand softly, then he released Dana, letting her fall to the ground. I looked down at her as she started flopping around like a fish, breathing in as much air as she could. "Thank you, Damien." I said, looking up into his eyes which had now returned to their regular blue.

"I told you, kitten. I will do anything you ask of me. Even if I disagree." he said, casting a glance at Dana who had now caught her breath and was looking at the two of us. "Leave, and never come back." He said to her, then lead me back to my desk.
