I woke up in the morning, the sun shining brightly, the wind blowing softly in through the balcony, filling my room with the fresh scent of the flowers in full bloom down below. I looked over to where Damien lay and saw that he was gone. When I touched the spot where he lay, it was cold, showing he hadn't been there in hours.

'Probably that old superstition that he can't see me on our wedding day until I'm walking down the aisle.' I thought, then felt my heartbeat began beating erratically, making me realize, 'Oh my god, today is our wedding day!'

I could feel the baby moving around as if he was just as excited about the day as I was. I giggled and put my hand to my stomach, rubbing softly at the ever-growing bulge "Calm down, baby. Too much excitement isn't good for us, you know." I whispered. The baby stopped moving as if he understood what I said. 'A baby this powerful, chances are he does understand you.' I thought as I crossed to the wardrobe. I felt an overwhelming sense of happiness, making it hard to contain myself as I quickly dressed to have breakfast.

"Sinclair, I'm going to fuck you up! Stop it!" I yelled, realizing that I was happy, but unbelievably so. I knew some of that happiness was mine, but it was so strong it overpowered my nerves. There's no way I wasn't nervous, so I knew it was Sinclair affecting me.

I could hear Sinclair chuckle from outside the door as he knocked softly. "Are you decent?"

"Yeah, come on in," I said as I brushed out my hair, wincing softly when I pushed too hard, inevitably making myself remember the first time I'd met Damien. Or rather, the first time I remember meeting Damien, as it was actually multiple times before I'd seen him.

"Today is your wedding day, little Bastet. Are you ready?" He asked me softly, crossing the room to give me a hug. He was unnecessarily soft, making sure to completely avoid my stomach the best he could like he was afraid of getting too close.

"Sinclair, you won't hurt the baby by touching my stomach, you realize that, right?" I asked with a laugh as I sat down to put on my shoes. I had to readjust my seating to put my foot up on the chair, to be able to tie my shoes.

Sinclair waved me back as he kneeled in front of me and tapped his knee, waiting for me to oblige and do as he wanted, before tying my shoes for me. "I'm not afraid of hurting the baby. It doesn't like it when I get too close to you, I'm not trying to get on the bad side of a creature that hasn't been born yet."

"Wait, what do you mean?" I asked incredulously, switching my feet, so he could tie the other.

"The baby gets angry when someone other than Lucifer gets too close to you. To be honest, sometimes the baby isn't all that happy when Lucifer is too close either. It's exceedingly protective of you, and I can only imagine what it will be like when it's born." He said as he stood and held his hand out to me.

"Really? Wow." I said with a soft laugh as I accepted his help to stand. I took a deep breath as I watched Sinclair, afraid of his reaction to what I was going to ask him. "I understand if you say no, but will you... Would you..." I trailed off with a sigh, not knowing how to say what I was trying to say. 'Come on Bast, it's not that hard. Just ask him.'

"What is it, little Bastet?" Sinclair asked me, furrowing his brows in worry as he began to pull me into a hug, but stopped as he glanced down at my stomach and took a step back instead. His golden eyes were bright with worry and confusion as he searched my eyes, trying to find what I was trying to say.

"I was wondering if you would give me away," I said quickly, wincing as the last word left my mouth, squeezing my eyes closed as I didn't want to see his reaction. 'He will likely say no, after what's happened between the two of you, especially after what happened in the barn, could you really blame him? It would be awkward!'

"Forgive me, child, but little Bastet, look at me," Sinclair said, his voice even and steely.

I hesitantly opened my eyes to find that Sinclair was grinning from ear to ear, his eyes alive with happiness as he embraced me tightly, kissing the top of my head softly. "Of course I will!" He exclaimed, trying and failing to contain his happiness.

"I thought you would say no, or that it might be awkward." I breathed out, releasing a breath I wasn't aware I was holding.

"Well, I can't say my feelings towards you are entirely Platonic, but I love you, little Bastet. It would be my utmost pleasure to walk you down the aisle. Now come, your child will likely hate me forever if you don't eat soon."

I laughed and let Sinclair lead me down the stairs and to the dining room where Valerie was waiting, reading a magazine as she ate.

"Did you ask him?" She asked when she noticed us walking into the room.

"She did, were you not taught that it's improper to speak whilst you've food in your mouth?" Sinclair responded for me, shaking his head at Valerie as he sat down next to me and began piling food on a plate.

"I sincerely hope that plate isn't for me," I said, eying it as he continued adding a bit of everything. By the time he set it in front of me, it was easily double the size of my head.

Valerie began laughing as she watched me eye the plate, "It's a good thing you're marrying a vampire then, huh?" She struggled out, laughing so hard she was shaking the entire table.

"Eat," Sinclair said, motioning to the plate as he picked up the newspaper Damien had left on the table, flipping through it carelessly.

"Who cooks all of this food?" Valerie asked as she stood and added more pancakes to her plate.

"Damien, usually. Sometimes he has a cook come in, but a majority of the time he cooks." I said as I began picking at the plate, before noticing a small hand-written note to my right.

The note read: 'The happiness I feel, knowing you will be my wife by the end of the day, is comparable to nothing else on this planet. I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with you and our child. I love you, Bastet Isabella Edge.' As I read it, I felt a tugging at my heart, inevitably leading to a burst of tears that I had no control over.

"What's this? Why are you crying, little human?" Sinclair asked as he took the note from me. He read it quickly, then rubbed my back softly, nodding in understanding. He shook his head at Valerie who was beginning to ask what was wrong, telling her that I was alright, before handing her the note.

It took a few minutes before I could get control of my feelings again and stop crying, but the baby moving around brought tears back to my eyes as I rubbed my belly again, smiling happily as I knew the baby thought I was upset about something. "It's okay, little one, mommy is just happy," I said softly, wiping my cheeks.

"Oh my gosh," Valerie whispered as a stray tear fell down her cheek. She sniffled as she wiped it, smiling as she set the note down. "That's adorable."

"Oh my god, wait why are you the only one here?" I asked suddenly, realizing that no one had arrived yet. The wedding was in less than six hours, and Valerie was the only bridesmaid here. Granted, there were only two others, but the fact that they weren't here made me worried.

"Calm down, Bastet. They are outside helping to set up." Sinclair responded quickly before I had a chance to freak out too much.

"What about Damien's groomsmen?" I asked, turning to face him. He pursed his lips and raised an eyebrow, motioning for me to eat otherwise he wouldn't tell me. I sighed and took a bite of my pancake, widening my eyes at him as I waited.

"They are here as well. Valerie and Lucifer have taken care of everything, Bastet. Relax and eat your breakfast, as you'll be busy for the next few hours."

"I love you." I smiled at Valerie before taking another bite.

"I love you too, but also, hurry up. Hair and makeup are going to take a few hours. Samantha and Alison brought their dresses, and Damien had Lisa come back in case there were any last-minute changes." She said urging me to eat as she pulled out her phone and sent a text.

"Okay, okay," I said.

Once I'd finished eating, Valerie and I walked to the makeshift spa where it has been converted in a salon overnight, Samantha and Alison were already there, waiting for Valerie and me before starting.

"Oh my god, how nervous are you?" Alison said in an annoying high-pitched shriek as she ran forward, embracing me in a tight hug, grinning from ear to ear. Her blue eyes were bright and watery as she jumped up and down from excitement.

"Oh, come on, Alison. Really?" Valerie said, giving her a less than playful punch in the arm.

"What? I'm just saying!" Alison said, leading us to the chairs where one of the vampires smiled softly, handing me a mask, raising an eyebrow as she peered past me to Alison.

"I know, right?" I whispered only loud enough for the vampires to hear me, causing them to chuckle softly.

"Congratulations, Bast. I'm so happy for you!" Samantha announced quietly, smiling softly as she gave me a hug. I smiled as I looked up into her soft brown eyes, remembering how much I'd loved spending time with her, but wasn't able to lately after everything that had happened. Samantha was the only person I could honestly say that I loved spending time with, as much as Valerie. She was much more like me than Valerie, as she was a much quieter and laid back person. We used to spend hours in my bedroom, watching tv, or painting our nails and reading magazines, in near-complete silence. Valerie always thought it was awkward to sit there in silence, but it was something Samantha and I could do for days on end. Sometimes being alone, with someone else, is the best therapy one could ask for.

"See, that's how you greet someone on their wedding day, you asinine bitch." Valerie said to Alison, taking her seat next to Samantha. She didn't look all too happy that she'd taken her place next to me, but she said nothing about it as the vampires began painting our nails.

"How are you?" Samantha asked me softly, watching me with a soft smile. I'd forgotten how soft-spoken she was until she spoke again. Although sometimes it was hard to hear her if you weren't listening, I'd always loved to hear her speak. The softness in her voice reminded me of a lullaby and pacified me into a calmness like nothing else ever could. Even the vampires seemed to love her voice, as I noticed they all turned their attention to her as she spoke, their eyes going soft as they watched her.

"I'm good, how have you been?" I asked her, noticing she looked tired, and like she hadn't slept in a while. I felt a pang in my heart when I saw how tired she looked, as the girl I remember was always so bright-eyed and cheery, while still being quiet and calm.

"I've been working full-time, juggling that and school. But I'm so happy you asked me to be a bridesmaid, I've missed you a lot."

"I've missed you even more," I said as I turned to the woman attending to me and held up a finger, telling her to wait a second. I left the room to go find Sam, but could only find Sinclair. "Hey, where is Sam?"

"He's with Lucifer. Is everything alright?" Sinclair asked, furrowing his brows as he looked down at me in worry.

"I'm okay, but can you ask Sam to come here for a second? I want him to ask Damien something." I said, but before I'd even finished speaking, Sam was standing next to Sinclair.

"What's wrong?" He asked, his blue eyes wide in worry as he looked over me, making sure I wasn't hurt. "She's not hurt." He said a little louder than normal, clearly talking to Damien.

"Is talking part of the superstition, or is it just seeing me?" I asked as I began to walk upstairs to the study where I was sure is where Damien is.

"What's wrong, kitten?" Damien asked from the other side of the door, his voice ringing out clearly even through the thick door.

"Nothing's wrong, I promise. But did you hear the girl I was talking to?"

"Yes, Samantha, right?"

"Yeah... Um, would you be able to do anything for her? It breaks my heart to see her like that."

"I knew you were going to ask me that, kitten. I already did."

"Is it possible for you to be any more awesome?" I asked happily as I turned around to face Sam and Sinclair who stood behind me, waiting. "Sorry for bothering you guys, you can go back to getting ready," I said as I happily went back down the stairs and into the salon where the girls were waiting for me, curiosity etched on their faces.

"You are too kind, you and our king." My attendant said softly, earning a soft nod from the other vampires in the room as they all agreed.

I shook my head softly before my phone buzzed, showing a text message from Damien.

'I love what a kind-hearted person you are, little kitten. Truly it's one of the things I love most about you. But please, as today is your day, focus on yourself?'

I smiled as I read what he said, and quickly typed a response; 'It's our day, vampire king. I love you.'

'I love you the most.'
