Chapter 8

I still can't imagine what it was like when Jenny and Ben were dating, when they were still lovers and what made them separate. I tried to guess, while confusing myself as to why I was so curious like this.

"Are you okay ?" I saw Jenny's face right in front of my eyes, she was looking confused at me who had been stunned since arriving home half an hour ago.

I looked at her with a blank gaze, still half aware of Jenny's presence.

"Ah...Jenny? What's wrong?" I asked flatly without expression. Jenny raised her eyebrows while closing her mouth tightly, she was sure there was something wrong with my head right now.

"I think you should go to the hospital, you really don't look well!" She said. Jenny touched my forehead, checking my body temperature which was a little hot.

"I'm fine,"

"You keep daydreaming, you don't listen so many times you call. If you don't feel well, I'll accompany you to the doctor." She said, she put on a worried face and immediately sat next to me.

"Please don't be like mom, Jen? Stop worrying so much about me. I'm healthy now,"

"Even though you say that, as your sister I'm still worried. I regret that I couldn't do anything for you when you were lying in the hospital for months. So, now let me do something for you." Jenny looked at me closely while holding my hand. Yes, it felt like she had never been this warm.

"I'm happy to see you have changed. If I may ask, what made you change like now?" I asked, I glanced at her with a smile. Maybe this is how it feels to be able to be close and talk to your sister after a long time.

"Why do you want to know the reason? There must be something you are hiding?" Jenny asked suspiciously, maybe this was a little of her advantage, having a sharp hunch.

"Do you know who I went to see earlier?" I asked.

"Your new editor, at least that's what Kelly says."

"Yep, that's right. Do you know his name?"

"Who ?"

"Benedict Warner." I said, I was waiting for Jenny's reaction.

"Benedict Warner? You mean, Benedict, my ex-boyfriend?" Jenny said, her face starting to change in disbelief.

"Yes, Benedict was your ex-boyfriend from high school. He's my new editor, or rather replacement editor."

"Oh my God, how could that be? What is he like now?" Jenny started to get enthusiastic, maybe this conversation awakened memories of her teenage years.

"He is tall, he's so handsome, his body is strong, his face is clean, his hair is cut well and his perfume smells good."

"No, not that, tell me clearly!"

"I think he's a handsome and cool guy, that's all. Just like your type at that time!" I said.

"Is that so? Then, what were you talking about? Did he immediately recognize you?" Jenny asked, to my surprise, this time she was really curious.

"When we first met, he immediately said that he seemed to recognize my face, but that's it. Because neither of us remembered when and where we had met, we didn't discuss it again. Until he took me home and that's when he was sure, he said this first the house of his ex-girlfriend named Jennifer,"

"So, what did you say?"

"I told him that Jennifer was my sister,"

"How did he react?"

"He just laughed in disbelief, I asked him to come over, but he refused!"

"Why did he refuse? He must be embarrassed to meet me, right?"

"Ehm...I don't think so, he said he still had business to do, maybe another time I'll invite him to stop by. That's if you're still here!" I said.

Jenny was silent, she seemed to be thinking about something and it could be seen from her faraway eyes. For some reason I feel like I have regrets.

"What?" I asked, seeing her pensive like that made me feel guilty.

"No, it's nothing. Back then, Ben was the most popular guy at school. Handsome and from a fairly rich family. Our relationship only lasted for 6 months, until I finally broke off the relationship."

"Why?"

"Yes, at that time I was a naughty and wild girl. He was too naive and I thought a relationship like that wouldn't last too long."

"Too naive? What do you mean?"

"He was nice, that's all I remember about him. Never mind, I want to help mom prepare dinner." She saids. She stood uncertainly as if she had a burden on her mind or there was something she couldn't say.

I looked at her back, there were many things I wanted to ask her, questions I had wanted to ask for a long time. However, looking at the conditions at that time, perhaps this question was impossible for me to say.

I tried to contact Helga and Depney, inviting them to attend the release of my latest novel, which was actually released a week ago. Yes, I know, there are still people who are waiting for my works and that makes me more enthusiastic to return to my old life.

"Hello, good evening?" I heard Depney's voice, a loud voice with a tone that sounded as cheerful as ever.

"Dep, it's me, Katrine."

"Oh hi Kate, how are you?"

"I'm fine, sorry I didn't call your phone,"

"Yeah, it's okay. I just got home too, it looks like you're better, right?"

"Yes, that's it, Depney, actually I want to invite you to come to the release of my novel this Friday, is that possible?" I asked.

"Hmm...friday, right? What time?"

"The event starts at around 2 pm on the first floor of the Stockholm building. However, you can come later in the afternoon if you want. I think there will be a lot of people coming, so I hope you and Helga

can come too." I asked.

"I understand, you know there are many fans who hope that you can work again. In fact, one of your works that was successfully filmed was truly extraordinary."
