Chapter 50

TEST OF FAITH.

"Alexander’s POV".

“You think i am the only one who wants to see you destroyed?” Allison spat, a new found courage in her voice. “Oh, no Alexander. Leila’s little ex , the one who she got locked up, is out and he is out to get Leila and make her pay.”

My blood froze and my throat felt dry. “That is not possible. Leila got him arrested.”

“Arrested yes. But money can buy a lot of favors and he has got money. And not to mention, he wants revenge on Leila and he will stop at nothing to see her crumble and fall to his feet. And he is done with Leila, he will come after you Alexander. Your precious name and face will not protect you then. You will be alone, just like your precious wife is alone in the grave.”

I glared at Allison, my hand balling into a fist. “ I can see your little game, you are lying. You are trying to manipulate me.”

“Am I? Or am I the only one who knows the truth and might be your only link to getting to Ben ? Because if you do not let me go, you will never see what is coming. I am warning you Alexander. This man is more dangerous hat you and that pathetic Leila thought he was. You think I am lying ? You think I am playing you? I am not. I am trying to save you. Take my word and save yourself.” Allison’s voice took on a desperate edge, her eyes wide and pleading. “If you do not believe me, ask your wifey she will tell you.”

“Leila would not lie to me,” I snapped.

“Why would she not? You think she is some innocent little girl? Let me tell you the truth about that lady, she is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. She is playing you, just like she played Ben. Let me guess she told you he was after her money? Or was it vice versa?” Allison said, her voice firm and steady. “Your precious Leila,” she continued, her voice low dripping with venom. “She knew exactly what she was doing. She played you and Ben. She wanted the competition out of the way, and that is me. She wants your tans your power. She got rid of Ben, and I am very sure she will get rid of you. And once you are out the way, once she has gotten what she wants from you, what do you think she will do to you? What do you think will happen when you suffer Ben’s fate? Or even worse what do you think will happen when Ben gets his hands on you? He will kill you.”

“Really? That weakling will kill me?” I scoffed, that should be fun.

“I see you are so confident. Leila must have lied to you that she loves you? You can not seriously believe that she loves you or she cares about you. She only cares about herself. And now that she has gotten you to marry her and trapped in her webs of lies and deceits she has gotten exactly what she wanted. And when Ben comes for you, she will just play victim again, like she always does.”

I felt my blood boil with anger. “That is a lie. Leila is not like that. She is not a liar and she is not a manipulator.”

“Oh really? What about when she got you to marry her and claimed that no love? Guess what happened after that. She comes up with her love for you,” Allison mocked. “Now think of what will happen when she gets her hands on your money? What then? I am sure she will just flee and you will lose all you have worked for, you will be left with nothing.”

I could feel the anger coursing through me, but I fought to keep my composure. “You shit you mouth Allison, I do not believe a word you just said.”

“Do not believe me then, but you will see soon enough. And when you do, when Ben comes for you and Leila decides to play victim, do not say I did not warn you.”

I turned away, my jaw clenched clenched. I knew deep down that this woman was a liar . But something about her words still rang in my ears. If she was saying the truth, even one shred of it then I needed to know. And I needed to protect Leila from whatever threat Ben posed.

I parked the car and two police officers came rushing to my side. I stepped out of the car, my face stern and strict. “Good evening officers. Take her in. Charge her with attempted murder.

The officers nodded and Allison was led away, all her screams and protests fell on deaf ears.

I watched her go, my mind already thinking of the next step.

If Ben was out of jail and he is really coming after Leila then I have to take extra care. I have no idea what he might be planning for her but I am sure it is deadly.

I reached for my phone and dialed a number I knew by heart. “I what to know his current location, who he has been in contact with and what his next move might be. And I need them as soon as possible.” I said.

There was a pause on the other end of the line and then a response was heard, a calm and professional one. “Understood, Mr Cross. I will start looking into it immediately. Anything else you need me to investigate.”

I hesitated for a moment and then I spoke again. “Find out everything about Leila and her relationship with Ben. From the beginning to the end I want every single detail. Also dig a little into her cousin’s life and find out everything about her. And also Josh Maloney..I need everything on all of them.”

“Alright sir, anything else? Like the source of the new video trending online?” The voice asked.

“Video?” I mumbled under my breath.

“What video?”
