THE BIG SHOCK.
"LEILA’s POV".
“Mr Ben Maloney,” an officer announced, his voice echoing in the stunned silence. “You are under arrest for the murder of Mathye White.”
Ben’s has dropped open in shock, his eyes darting around the room for a way out.
“Thank God.” I said and smiled in relief.
“You can not do this! I do not know any Mathye White!” Ben stammered, But the officers were already closing in on him , their handcuffs at the ready.
The officers restrained Ben, despite his futile protests. As he was being dragged away, a triumphant gleam lit in my eyes.
“Thank God. He has it coming.” I hissed under my breath, relishing the sight of Ben being led away.
“You can not take me! I am innocent, ask everyone I am innocent. I come from a noble family.” Ben screamed in a futile attempt to sound innocent.
“We have proof of your involvement,” the lead officer continued, turning his back to Ben. “We have gathered enough evidence to build a solid cause against you. You are going to pay for what you done.”
“I am innocent!” Ben screamed.
But the police officers paid no attention to him, and Ben was hustled of the room. A hush fell over the crowd, but I was far from finished. I strode forward, my gaze burning with righteous fury.
“And that is not all,” I announced, my voice clear and unwavering. “Ben is also responsible for the death of a little girl, here you can have this journal as evidence.” I said and handed Ben’s journal to the lead police officer.
The crowd gasped and I could see Tammy’s leg were shaking slightly.
“Take him away officer.” Alexander said.
“Yes MR Castor.” The lead officer and soon they left with Ben.
“Great Job, Leila.” Alexander said and smiled widely.
“Thank you Alexander.” I said with a wide smile on my face.
As I basked in the glow of victory, the room erupted in pandemonium as a piercing scream cut through the air.
I whipped around, my heart racing only to see my mother crumpled on the floor, surrounded by panicked guests.
“Mother!” I cried out, my world spinning out of control.
“Mother,” I cried and dashed towards my mother’s side falling to my knees as I cradled her head in my arms.
“Leila...dear...is that you?”mother said, her eyes fluttered close and her breath ragged and shallow.
“Someone call an ambulance!” A voice screamed.
“The ambulance is here.” Tammy screamed.
In a whirlwind of panic and confusion, I found myself racing towards the nearest hospital, my mother’s limp form in my arms.
“Calm down dear,” a paramedic said. “We will find a way to save your mother.”
At the hospital, I sat in a sterile waiting room, my mind numb and my heart in shreds.
“Mrs Leila, your mother suffered a lethal injection,” The doctor said, his voice heavy with sorrow.
“What?” I said, as the words hit me like a punch to the gut. “My mother? Murdered? It did not make sense. Who would want to hurt mum?”
“Who would do this!” I choked out, my voice barely above a whisper.
The doctor shook his head, his eyes filled with sympathy. “We do not know Leila, but we will do everything in our power to find out.”
I sank into a nearby chair, the weight of the world pressing down my shoulders.
“My mother dead? How can my mother die? How will I live without my mother by my side? She is my backbone , the reason why I am alive today. She has worked so hard to make me who I am. How can she die doctor?” I said, my voice breaking with tears.
“I am sorry for your loss Leila, May the good lord give you the strength to bear the loss and may he grant your mother a peaceful rest.” The doctor said.
“Once again I am sorry for your loss.” The doctor said and walked away.
“No... this can not be happening, it is not true.” I mumbled desperately trying to accept this new information. “Tammy...” I growled and walked towards her.
“You B I T C H ,” I said and extended my hands towards her neck, trying to choke her.
“Let her go! Let her go,” The nurses screamed as they tried to free her from my grip.
“Let me at her, she killed my mother! She is a murderer I will kill her.” I hissed and freed myself from the nurses grip, holding Tammy’s neck tightly.
“Let me go you, let go of me you lunatic. I did not kill your mother how can I kill your mother? What insolence is this? Someone get me out of this crazy B I T C H E S hand, she will kill me.” Tammy choked.
“Yes I will kill you, I will kill you!” I growled and tightened my grip around her neck.
“Please... save me.” Tammy cried, her face slowly losing its color.
“Stop this Leila.” Allison screamed and pulled me away from Tammy.
“She is crazy! Take her to a mental hospital she is a danger to the society. She wanted to kill me right in front of everyone.” Tammy cried and turned to Alexander, “baby did you see that? She wanted to kill me... babe did you see that? She is accusing me for murder, babe this is an assassination of character.”
“You bought a lethal injection two days ago! The very day that Emily died, it was fake. You two staged her death and I have evidence. Emily walked into the hospital with her own two legs and she bought a lethal injection based on your instructions. I know this is just one of your many plans to ruin my life isn’t it,” I screamed at her.
“You are crazy! Emily is dead I did not do anything, babe please do something I can no longer stand the insults.” Tammy cried.
“But I am not done...there is more Tammy...” I growled at her.
