TURNING THE TABLES.
" Leila’s POV".
As the faint silver light speed through the curtains in my room, I turned in my sleep and woke up, my eyes still half closed with sleep.
The softness of the bed and the strange scent of the room only reminded me of my current predicament.
I glanced over and luckily the space beside me was empty. I felt a wave of relief wash over me, at least that J E R K did not sleep in the same room as me.
“He did not sleep here cause you refused to listen to the secret he wanted to share with you.” The voice in my head reminded me.
“We will have time for that later.” I muttered and sat up.
As I rose from the bed, Ben barged into the room.
“Why are you still sleeping?” He roared at me the minute he stepped into the room.
“Cause you kept me up all night you son of a bit...” I said and left the rest of my words hanging in the air.
“This is the same reason you missed knowing about a very important secret last night.” Ben scorned me.
“You think I care about what secrets you got bottled up in you? I know all of your secrets Ben Maloney and it is only a matter of time before the whole world knows about it.” I snapped back at him.
“I don’t care Leila. All I care about is humiliating Alexander Castor and today is that day. Go get ready meet me downstairs in fifteen minutes.” Ben threatened and left the room, shutting the door behind him.
“C U R S E you Ben Maloney.” I screamed out loud and then stepped into the bathroom.
Coming out a few minutes later, I wore whatever I found in the closet and went downstairs to meet Ben.
“Looking hot princess, make me want to take you to bed and thrust my hips against yours while you scream my name out loud.” Ben said, his eyes dark with lust as he scanned my body.
My stomach churned and I felt like I was going to throw up. “Keep your hands off of me you filthy J E R K.”
Thankfully, Ben did not insist and he walked away.
I walked behind him and soon we were seated in the car, driving to where the conference will be held.
The car ride was filled with a tense silence broken only by the soft hum of the car’s engine and the occasional glare from Ben.
“Stop staring at me, it makes me want to throw up.” I said, keeping my face trained on the world outside the window.
“And if I keep staring at you? What will you do!” Ben snapped.
I could tell I was beginning to get on his nerves , but I could not care less my mind was already worked up.
“I hope you and Alexander are not planning anything stupid, cause if you ever try to expose me or play funny I will shoot you on the spot.” Ben Warned.
I rolled my eyes, I had one chance to expose Ben for the monster he truly was and I was not going to waste it, I only hoped Alexander will listen to me.
“We are here and remember you must act like you were the victim and I am the hero okay? Anything you say you must make sure that Alexander is painted as the villain and the whole world hates him.” Ben said, his face twisted.
“Do not tell me what to do.” I said and stepped out of the car.
“Don’t you dare you B I T C H , you will stay here with me or else.” Ben whispered and grabbed my hands.
As we made our way through the ornate lobby, I felt the stares or onlookers , it was obvious most of them wondered what I was doing with this rogue.
“Leila.” Alexander said, as he approached me, his voice was low and apologetic.
“Babe... not fair you left me all alone with the guests.” Tammy said and held Alexander’s hand.
“How are you Leila?” Alexander asked, ignoring Tammy.
“She is fine of course, can you not see she is with her first love. After all first love never truly dies.” Tammy replied.
“Can you shut up and let her speak for herself Tammy Ford?” Alexander snapped at her.
“It’s okay Alexander. I am fine, thank you for asking.” I said, my heart aching as I watched Tammy act clingy to him.
“Enough Chit Chat let us get down to business,” Ben’s sharp voice cut through the peaceful atmosphere. “Alexander I am sure you know what to say and how to say it, remember don’t you even think of acting smart with me, or I will not hesitate—“
“Can you stop blabbering and let’s get this over with?” Alexander said, cutting Ben Shut.
Soon, the conference hall was brimming with anticipation and Alexander took the stage.
“Ladies and gentlemen of the press,” Alexander said, his voice booming with authority. “ I would like to thank you all for joining us here today. As many of you know I got married not quite long ago, a secret marriage actually, which was honored by only a few friends and family.” Alexander said.
The audience burst into laughter as they took the hint. My eyes stung with tears as people laughed at my marriage with Alexander.
“Well, I am here to address you based on that very marriage. You see, the woman I got married to had a lover and this lover is none other than Ben Maloney.” Alexander said and all eyes turned to Ben.
Ben have a stiff smile and Alexander continued with his speech.
“Well, as you all have met with my ex wife’s lover, why don’t you meet my ex wife herself.” Alexander said and my face was on the big screen.
I felt utterly humiliated, but before I could stand up and introduce myself, police officers ran into the room.
“Freeze!” They screamed and the people began to panic.
“What is going on?”
