DEAL OR NOT?
Alexander’s POV.
“What do you want?” I barked at Tammy who was at the other end of the phone.
“You know what I want Alexander. Why are you playing dumb?” Tammy said, her voice full of glee.
I could feel the anger coursing through my body, I wanted to kill that woman. Throwing caution to the wind, I hung up the call.
“What happened boss? What did Tammy say?” Alfred asked.
“She has Leila and she wants me to dance to her tunes, else she would kill Leila.” I said, through gritted teeth.
“Do you happen to know where she kept Leila? Like an idea or anything of that sort that might help us in finding Leila ma’am?” Alfred asked.
I shook my head.” No Alfred. I have no idea where Tammy might have hidden Leila.”
Alfred took a deep breath. “What were her demand?”
“She refused to say what she wanted, she kept beating around the bush.” I answered, running my hand in my hair.
“Can I have the number Tammy used to call you? Maybe we can track her location down with it.” Alfred suggested.
I felt a surge of hope in me. “Yes, you are absolutely right. I will contact my security team and have them track that number and her exact location. Leading me to where Tammy is hiding Leila.”
“You are right boss. I hope this works, then we will be able to find Leila ma’am and bring her back home safely.” Alfred said.
My phone rang and when I saw the caller ID, I clenched my fist. It was Tammy.
I picked up the phone and even before I could say hello, she started speaking and ranting.
“You have no idea what I am capable of. How dare you hang up the call one me?” She asked, her voice low and threatening. “If you do not do as I say, I will hurt and kill her. Do you understand?”
“Listen to me Tammy, if you hurt a single hair on her head, I will make sure you do not live to tell the story.” I snapped at her.
I heard Tammy laugh, a cold and evil laughter that made my blood run cold. “Fine then, come here and see for yourself what I can do to your little wife, Leila. I know you are already searching for me Alexander, do not worry I will make it easy for you to find me.” She said and hung up the call.
As soon as the call ended, I immediately turned and faced my security team leader who was summoned to the room by Alfred . “I need you to track the number of the last call I received. It was Tammy and I need you to find where she i.” I said, my voice unsullied unusually calm and steady.
Marcus, my security team leader, responded immediately. “Yes boss. I will get on it, using our hacking software to track Tammy.”
“Hurry.” I said, pacing nervously and taking deep breaths from time to time.
“Sir, try to relax. I will gather the remaining guards and inform them that we are going on a rescue mission.” Alfred said and left the room.
“Did you find anything Marcus?” I asked.
“No boss. It seems the number that called you did not belong to Tammy ma’am. It belonged to one Mary Ford.” Marcus said.
“Mary Ford? She is the maid who poisoned Leila. What has she got to do with all this? Was she not really dead? Is this all a big plan and distraction set up by Tammy.
My head was spinning as I tried to wrap my head around the new information.
“There is more bad news boss.” Marcus said, bringing me out of my thoughts.
“What is it?” I asked, my voice shaking with fear.
“I have managed to track down the number but it is calling from five different places,” Marcus said. “Making it hard for me to know the caller’s real location.”
I felt like the ground under my feet was slipping away and the room was closing in on me and it’s walls crashing on me.
“Where are those five places?” I asked.
“China, Paris, Ghana, Cameroon and unmarked place on the map.” Marcus answered.
I was lost in deep thoughts. Just this morning I left Leila at home, so China, Paris, Ghana and Cameroon could not be Tammy’s hiding place. It would take a lot of planning to sneak Leila out of the country and Tammy knew better than mess with me.
“Can you find out where that unmarked place is?” I asked, a theory forming in my mind.
“Yes boss, give me a few minutes.” Marcus answered and his fingers flew over the keyboard.
I paced around the room, my heart pounding in my chest and my mind racing with different thoughts.
Knowing Tammy well, I was sure she did not do this alone. She was not smart enough to carry out such a plan all on her own. She can not even think for herself, this plan was too good and strategic for someone like Tammy.
She was not working alone for sure, she got helping hands. And I had only name in mind, Ben Maloney. That crook would do anything to get Leila back in his life.
“Common marcus! Did you find out where that unmarked place is?” I snapped at him, my patience running thin.
“Yes boss. It is not far from here, it is an old warehouse at the outskirts of the city. It would take only forty five minutes to get there.” Marcus said.
The door swung open and Alfred stood at the doorway, fully armed .
“We are ready boss.”
“Let’s go. Hurry ! Hurry!” I snapped and rushed outside.
My phone rang in my pocket.
“Private number?” I mumbled and picked up the phone .
“Hi Alexander, I am sure you know where we kept your wife, come soon or you will miss the party.”
“Ben!”
“What does he mean by party?”
