Chapter 17 CHAPTER 17

SABRINA

“Thank you, mother,” I said, even though I know I am not actually taking care of Alpha Vincent.

“We should sit.” She said and sat in the chair in front of my seat while I sat back down on the chair Alpha Vincent pulled out earlier

“I have been wanting to see you but my weak health didn't allow me. I'm sorry you had to see me now.” His mother said and I shook my head.

Vincent sat down beside me just in time. Since he told me to act naturally, I have decided to do just that.

“I should have come to you to make sure I see you two. I'm also to blame,” I said, and she squeezed my hand lightly on the table.

“You are such a good woman. I'm glad he met you.” Vincent's mother said, and I dare not argue that I am actually not meant for his son. That will be rude.

The maids stepped back when they were done serving the meal. We began to eat, but Vincent's mother didn't stop looking at us.

I think she is trying to guess why we are not exactly acting like a couple. I checked Alpha Vincent's plate, and I noticed he is barely eating his food as if it is not to his taste.

A thought settled in my mind and I decided to implement it. I picked up my fork and used it to take the pasta. I make sure it's neatly wrapped around the fork before putting it in front of Vincent's lips.

He looked at me as if I just made a terrible mistake but I smiled and opened my mouth, a gesture for him to do the same. He actually did and I fed him the pasta. Vincent chewed it gently and drank from the water in the glass.

“How does it taste? I noticed you aren't eating.” I said, trying to act like a good wife.

“Wow. It actually tastes better when you feed me,” Vincent said, playing the role well, and his mother smiled.

“Okay, love. Let me help you again.” I said and dug the fork inside the pasta again.

“You two are a loving couple.” His mother commented and I shrugged my shoulders

“He is actually the best man I could ever ask for. He makes me feel whole.” I told his mother and I can swear that I saw Alpha Vincent glaring at me.

“Wow. I can see that already,” his mother said, and I fed him the pasta, which he ate again.

“Mother. You shouldn't talk while you are eating.” Vincent said and his mother narrowed her eyes at him playfully.

“Come on. I didn't see you all this time, and you still expect me to be quiet around you. Did you even miss me at all?” She asked and I noticed something change in her eyes.

It was her expression which suddenly turned sad. Why can't she come to love with us at the castle? Why is she living somewhere else?

“Of course I did. It's just that I couldn't place a call because of the issue with the network there. You are the one stopping me from getting it fixed.” Alpha Vincent said and his mother placed down the cutlery.

“You don't have to do anything Vincent. If you want to see me, all you need to do is come to me.” Vincent's mother told him, but I couldn't help but ponder on what the two were saying.

Am I the only one finding this suspicious? Why would the Queen Mother of the Alpha choose to stay outside of the castle when there is enough room for her to use?

“I will do as you wish Mother. Do you want the soup to be served now?” Vincent asked her

“No. I am actually okay with this.” His Mother replied and continued eating then she looked up.

“And we are sorry for making you feel left out.” She said and I shook my head.

“No. It's fine Mother. You wanted to catch up with him, which is what a mother would do. He is your son.” I replied and Vincent placed his hand on my thigh when I tried to feed him again.

I take that as a cue to stop. But will I also use the same fork to eat?

“Silly girl. You gave him the same fork you were using to eat, and he didn't complain,” my wolf said, and I almost jumped out of my chair.

How could I forget that I actually have a wolf now?

“I'm glad you understand me perfectly, Luna Sabrina.” I heard Vincent's mother say to me.

“The last time I saw him, he was just around this height.” Vincent's mother said and used her hand to gauge Vincent's height, which was a few inches above the table.

I noticed the sadness in her eyes, which she didn't hide, compared to the robot beside me, who doesn't have any emotion left in his body.

“He is so small. You must have missed him greatly.” I replied and Queen Mother nodded her head.

“You aren't going to talk about me now, are you?” Vincent asked and his mother chuckled.

“We are going to do that but it won't be in your presence.” His mother said and turned to face me.

“Let's have tea when we are done with the food.” She informed me and I agreed.

“Thank you, Mother,” I said, and she continued eating her food.

When we were done eating, Queen Mother told me to come with her and I did. Well, Vincent argued with his mum that he needs to be with me always so his mother agreed to have him come with us.

“I want to take you to where I was living before I left the palace.” Queen Mother said while Vincent continued to walk behind us without leaving.

“I can't wait to see it,” I said with curiosity evident in my voice.

I don't know why but I wish I could ask her when she left. Is it because the king died? What is stopping her exactly

If only this devil were not here with us, I would have loved to ask her this question. I guess Vincent deliberately followed me today to see his mom.

We got to the entrance of the building and walked in. Alpha Vincent men were the ones who pulled the door open for us to come inside the Queen Chamber.

I get in alongside Vincent while Queen Mother leads the way. “It's just like the way I left it.” The Queen Mother said with tears welling in her eyes.

“I make sure it's neatly cleaned,” Vincent said and sat on the couch.

“Wow. It's exactly the same,” she said, chuckling, and a tear rolled down her cheeks, which she cleaned immediately.

“I will prepare some tea.” The Queen Mother said and went inside the kitchen. When I volunteered to go with her, she told me not to bother so I had to wait behind.

“You are getting bolder each day. You feed me

when I have my own hand,” Vincent said.
