Chapter 85

Chapter 85

Julie had already run over.

When she stopped, she saw Alexander and Lila holding hands, and her eyes dimmed a bit.

"What is it?" Alexander asked her, his tone as indifferent as always.

Julie snapped back to attention and smiled at him. "Nothing important, I just wanted to thank Mr. Sinclair privately. Also, now that Mr. Sinclair is married, what will happen if Celeste comes back?"

Hearing her words, Alexander immediately pulled his hand out of Lila's palm.

Lila's fingers curled slightly, and the smile on her face disappeared completely in an instant. Looking down at her now empty hand, a wave of bitterness surged through her heart without warning.

Her initiative to hold his hand just now seemed so stupid in this moment.

Alexander stepped closer to Julie, eagerly asking, "You have news about Celeste?"

Julie was stunned and shook her head. "I don't."

Alexander frowned with displeasure. "If you don't have news about her, how do you know she'll come back when I have a wife?"

At these words, Lila froze.

The tide that hadn't yet receded was hit by a new wave.

She suddenly felt a bit unsteady on her feet.

Julie didn't understand what Alexander meant at first, but after thinking it over carefully, she picked up on something and asked with a smile, "Does Mr. Sinclair mean you'll get divorced?"

"None of your business, Miss Baker. It's getting late, you should go home."

"Where is Mr. Sinclair going? Can you give me a ride?"

Lila looked at Alexander, hoping he would refuse Julie.

She was the driver. She didn't want to drive a woman who liked Alexander and had impure motives, regardless of whether this person was Celeste's friend or not.

But Alexander didn't care what she thought at all and directly asked Julie, "Where do you live?"

"I live in the community on Riverside Road. Is that on your way, Mr. Sinclair?"

"Yes, it's on the way."

Julie smiled happily. "Then can you give me a ride?"

He nodded. "Get in."

Julie opened the car door without hesitation and climbed into the back seat.

Alexander also got in and sat next to Julie.

Lila was still standing in place, her legs feeling like they were filled with lead, unable to move.

She was also extremely resistant inside.

Not only resistant to driving Julie home as a driver, but also resistant to the fact that Alexander, her husband, was sitting in the back with Julie.

What was this supposed to be?

She wasn't just his driver—she was his legal wife.

"Lila, what are you still standing there for? Get in!" Alexander barked orders at her from inside the car.

Lila took a deep breath, turned around and smiled at him. "Okay, darling!"

With that, she got into the driver's seat, fastened her seatbelt, started the engine, and drove off. Usually cautious about driving, this time she drove very fast, almost reaching the speed limit for that stretch of road.

Alexander was very displeased and questioned her. "Lila, are you crazy? Driving this fast?"

She glanced at him through the rearview mirror. "I'm too tired. I want to get home and sleep early."

"Slow down."

"I won't!"

With that, Lila accelerated again.

Before long, the car arrived at an intersection on Riverside Road.

As Julie pushed open the car door with one foot on the ground, the car suddenly lurched forward.

"Ouch!" Julie tumbled out of the car with a scream of pain.

Alexander quickly got out of the car.

He helped Julie up. "Are you okay?"

Lila was also startled.

She got out of the car and jogged over to Julie's side. Just as she was about to ask how Julie was, she heard Alexander's sharp rebuke: "How do you drive?"
