Chapter 17
Lila glanced at him suspiciously.
As she looked away, she caught sight of Alexander's cold, threatening gaze and realized the other driver had been scared off by Alexander.
Lila let out a breath, thinking it was a good thing he was there.
Otherwise, she would have gotten an earful from that somewhat hot-tempered man. At this thought, she couldn't help but feel a bit grateful toward him.
Although Alexander was emotionally unstable, he could still tell who was on his side and knew to protect her when it mattered.
This husband wasn't as bad as she'd imagined.
But could Lila still keep this driving job?!
While Lila was feeling down, a WhatsApp message came in on her phone.
Elara: [Lila, I went to interview for the CEO's secretary position at the Lucas Group today. I passed both the first round interview and the second round written test, and I've already been notified about the third round final interview.]
The Lucas Group?
Yesterday at the Sinclair Family Manor, Gaia seemed to have a friend who was Mrs. Lucas. Mrs. Lucas had complained that her grandson only knew how to have fun and was still single.
Could Elara be going to be his secretary?!
Lila just thought about it briefly and didn't ask for now. After all, the final interview hadn't happened yet, so there was no point knowing too much.
She congratulated her friend first.
Lila: [Elara, you're so amazing! Congratulations, I'm sure you'll pass the final interview too!]
Elara: [mua~.gif]
Elara: [What about you? Is being Mr. Sinclair's driver going smoothly?]
Lila: [Don't even ask. Got off to a bad start—got into an accident on the first day.]
Lila: [Unlucky.jpg]
Just as she sent the last meme, Charlie had already rushed over.
When Lila saw Charlie, he saw her too and politely called out, "Mrs. Sinclair."
Then he walked to the back door and reported to Alexander: "Mr. Sinclair, I've already contacted the insurance company, but it'll take them some time to get here. How about this—you and Mrs. Sinclair head to the office first, and I'll stay here to handle things."
He handed the car keys to Alexander as he spoke.
Alexander took them.
Charlie quickly opened the car door for him.
Seeing Alexander get out of the car, Lila also pushed open the driver's door and got out, silently following him to the car Charlie had brought.
Their steps stopped simultaneously by the driver's side.
Alexander turned back and glanced at her.
Lila pointed at herself uncertainly. "Boss, you don't still want me to drive, do you?"
Alexander raised his lips sarcastically, emphasizing each word, "I don't have a death wish."
Lila lowered her head.
As if anyone wanted to die.
Besides, Alexander in the back seat was much safer than her as the driver.
"Get in the car." Alexander issued the command.
Lila responded glumly, "Okay."
Lila had just pulled open the back door and was bending down to get in when Alexander's dangerous tone rang out, "Miss Grace, are you really treating me like your driver?"
"No, absolutely not."
"Get in the front."
Alexander's tone was too harsh. Lila didn't want to deal with him, but she obediently did as told, walking around to get in the passenger seat.
Not only had there been an accident first thing in the morning, but they'd also wasted so much time waiting on the road. Alexander's limited patience had been completely worn out, and his expression was now very unpleasant.
Alexander glanced at the time on his watch—half past eight.
By now, he should have been sitting in his office, drinking coffee while his secretary briefed him on today's schedule. But because of this idiot Lila, he was still stuck on the road.
Did she have any idea how valuable his time was?!
