Chapter 512

You know, Evelyn has lived in this house her whole life, and it's in a famous rich neighborhood.

Almost every rich and powerful person wants to buy a house here, since the neighbors are all big shots, but Gavin turned out to be so shameless.

Adelaide gripped Evelyn's arm with some worry.

As she expected, Evelyn was so mad her chest heaved up and down hard, veins popping on her forehead. If she wasn't holding back with all her might, she would've passed out already.

Seeing Evelyn not say a word for a long time, Gavin felt a bit guilty, but suddenly his arm hurt. He instinctively looked at Mina, closed his eyes, mustered up courage, and kept talking.

"Grandma, I know this is all my fault. I'm useless and got you into this mess, but I really have no other choice. I promise you, it's just putting the house up as collateral. Once I have money, I'll buy it back for you."

Evelyn shook with anger and raised her cane, smashing it hard on Gavin's head.

Blood poured from Gavin's head right away, the red blood blurring his vision. He stared wide-eyed in disbelief. "Grandma, you're hitting me over a house?"

"You bastard, shouldn't I hit you? This house is the inheritance your grandpa left me. Even if your mom was alive, she wouldn't dare touch it. You actually tried to, and I think you don't want to live anymore."

Evelyn still wasn't satisfied after one hit and raised the cane to strike again. But this time it didn't land, because Mina stood up and blocked the cane.

"Evelyn, I know you're the elder and we should respect you, but you can't just hit people. We can talk things out nicely. And why does Gavin need to borrow money? It's because your family gives him too little."

Mina glanced at the room's decorations. "You keep saying you love him and will leave him all your money, but do you really mean it? Look at all these collectibles in the room. If you really loved him, you'd hand them over already." Seeing Evelyn so angry, Adelaide shot her a cold look. "Shut up. You're not even married in yet. Even if you were, this isn't your place to talk. What, now you're here to grab the inheritance?"

She looked at Gavin with disdain. "I really regret not seeing what an ungrateful jerk you are sooner."

Thinking back now, Gavin was a total lowlife from head to toe.

When he was little, because of his special status as an illegitimate son, most kids wouldn't play with him, so he clung to her desperately back then.

Maybe some schemes and plots started when they were kids.

Back then, with her mom still alive, Adelaide was the famous little princess in their circle, super spoiled. Gavin was just a pitiful kid. Even with Evelyn and others doting on him, he didn't have good connections.

If Adelaide hadn't brought him into her friends' circle, Gavin would've been ditched by the elite families long ago.

Selfish jerk.

Evelyn had already given him everything she could, but the bastard wasn't satisfied and wanted more.

Adelaide helped Evelyn sit down, then walked over coldly and looked down at the guy on the sofa holding his head.

"Listen up. This house is Grandma's, and she can give it to whoever she wants. If you try anything stupid, believe me, I'll smash your head in."

Adelaide picked up an ashtray nearby and waved it around. "And you know what I'm capable of. Think about what happened to Simon—that was my own dad, and I still went through with it. You? No problem."

According to her past life's path, Evelyn wouldn't live much longer. When Adelaide first came back, she wanted to kill Gavin right away, but now she wasn't in a rush. For Evelyn's sake, she'd let him live a couple more years and deal with him after Evelyn was gone.

Their eyes met, and Gavin felt a chill facing Adelaide's icy stare.

He really regretted it now. If he'd known Adelaide was so capable and would get all that money, he'd never have teamed up with Saskia and the others.

But there's no medicine for regret in this world.

Gavin looked at Evelyn with her eyes closed and face pale, feeling bad for her, and immediately begged pitifully.

"Grandma, I'm really at the end of my rope. You know I'm holding a wedding right now and also prepping Grandpa's birthday party. I just don't have enough money..."

"Enough already, cut the crap. I know what you want—more money from me. Let me tell you straight: no, no, there's really none..."

Evelyn got sad all of a sudden, tears welling up in her eyes.

All these years, she'd treated Gavin like her only family. No matter how unreasonable his demands, she'd try her best to meet them. But clearly, she'd spoiled his greed.

Gavin wanted to start a business but wouldn't take risks; he wanted to go all-in but never thought about where the money came from.

Marcus and Evelyn had put all their savings into his wedding.

Evelyn waved her hand impatiently. "Fine, you all get out now."

Gavin wanted to say more, but Adelaide drove the wheelchair over, grabbed his collar, and dragged him out.

Saskia and Mina glanced at each other. There was no sympathy in their eyes, just disgust.

They couldn't figure it out—both from the Manners family, why could Sebastian dominate in business without fearing anyone, with real skills of his own, while Gavin was just a total loser.

After all this time, they'd seen Gavin's true colors. He was really useless.

Gavin was already gone, so they didn't stick around either. They said goodbye to Evelyn and followed him out.

Once they were gone, Evelyn's anger faded a bit. She got sad again, tears spinning in her eyes. "That bastard wants to squeeze me dry. Tell me, has he caused some other trouble, or is it just business?"

Thinking of Verity's gambling debts, Evelyn grabbed Adelaide's arm. "This jerk didn't get tricked into owing gambling debts, did he?"
