Chapter 65
"Ms. Emily Johnson, I can understand your dedication to the children, but wouldn't a broken family have an impact on the kids' future?"
Before Emily could answer the previous question, Sophia threw out another one that caused an uproar in the venue.
The live chat also sensed something was off. "Why do I feel like Sophia is doing this on purpose?"
"She's clearly trying to put Emily in a difficult position."
The previously positive comments about her questions began to shift, but Sophia remained smugly pleased with herself.
Under everyone's gaze, it was Oscar who stepped forward.
He walked from Emily's side to the front and took the spare handheld microphone from the host's podium.
He even stood on his tiptoes because he wasn't tall enough.
"Ms. Sophia Johnson, our family is very happy. Having Mommy love us wholeheartedly is enough. Our teacher taught us that prying into other people's family privacy is very rude behavior. Your question has gone beyond what the show should be discussing."
His little face was tense, looking extremely serious, yet his voice was clear and calm.
The audience was stunned at first, then burst into even louder applause and good-natured laughter.
"Oscar is amazing, such good values!"
"That response was incredible, clearly a high-IQ kid."
Sophia's face finally couldn't hold up, turning red.
At that moment, a deep and penetrating voice came from the judges' panel.
"Oscar is right."
The moment William spoke, he drew everyone's attention.
He removed his glasses, his eyes looking directly at Sophia.
"The purpose of Super Mom Show is to showcase the love and growth between parents and children, focusing on the present and future. Ms. Emily Johnson and her children's performance today speaks for itself—this is exactly the positive energy the show needs."
His voice wasn't loud, but carried the authority of someone long in a position of power.
These words were undoubtedly like a slap across Sophia's face.
He wanted to embarrass Sophia.
Sophia clearly understood this and immediately expressed her apology.
However, her words were all just formalities, without a hint of sincerity.
Still, even though people present could see through it, no one actively called her out.
After all, she was the daughter of the Johnson Group.
They did not need to offend Sophia and the Johnson Group over Emily.
The host quickly took over.
"Mr. Brown makes a very good point. Now let's return our attention to today's fun activities. Next..."
The situation returned to calm.
During the break, Emily took the children to the restroom.
In the hallway, she vaguely heard a deliberately lowered voice coming from around the corner.
Emily initially didn't pay it much attention.
"Right... the youngest girl, the one with two pigtails. Find an opportunity, doesn't need to be long. Just create some chaos, the money's already in your account."
"Two pigtails" seemed to trigger something in her like a switch.
Emily suddenly rushed toward the corner, her steps hurried.
Her movement seemed to alert the person speaking.
When Emily reached the corner, there was no one there.
Her heart began to beat violently, with an ominous feeling rising within her.
When Emily rushed back to the restroom, she saw all three children coming out together.
She looked them up and down, and only after confirming they were safe did she quietly breathe a sigh of relief.
Emily crouched down to be at eye level with the three children.
"There's an outdoor activity this afternoon. You must not leave Mommy's side."
Hearing Emily's instructions, Nina nodded, still smiling.
"Especially you, Nina."
Emily's emphasis left Nina a bit confused.
But fortunately, they were obedient and sensible children who wouldn't go against Emily even if they didn't understand.
"Mommy, are there bad people?"
Oscar asked sensitively.
Emily touched his head but didn't give a definite answer.
"Mommy just wants you to be extra careful. Oscar, your watch..."
She paused slightly.
Oscar immediately understood and somehow produced two watches, handing them to Nina and Aiden respectively.
These watches were multifunctional children's watches that he had modified.
They had enhanced positioning and signal scanning functions, and could also record short audio clips.
Emily felt slightly relieved seeing this.
The afternoon activity was outdoors.
The moms were responsible for preparing dinner, while the children had free time to play and find ingredients hidden by the production team.
"Mommy, we'll go now."
Oscar carried a basket and held Aiden and Nina's hands on either side.
"Okay, be sure to stay safe."
Emily forced a smile, with a hint of tension in her eyes.
Oscar nodded at her without saying more.
The moms discussed things here while the children gathered in small groups, heading in different directions to search for ingredients.
Everything seemed normal.
But Emily's heart remained on edge, unable to relax.
She felt certain someone would make a move.
But as a guest on the show, Emily couldn't directly break the show's rules and follow the three children.
Just when the search time was about to end, and Emily could finally breathe a sigh of relief, a production staff member suddenly shouted, "Oh no!"
Emily's heart jumped to her throat. She immediately rushed over, staring intently at the staff member.
"What happened?"
"Nina is missing!"
At those words, Emily's face instantly turned pale.
The production team had equipped each child with a safety positioning badge and an emergency caller.
Before they set out, Emily had specifically confirmed that the badge was securely fastened and the caller was fully charged.
But now the production team suddenly couldn't locate Nina.
Emily's heart sank completely. She whipped around to look at Sophia, her eyes full of hatred.
Sophia had been leisurely leaning to the side, watching the drama unfold.
But when her eyes met Emily's gaze, she couldn't help but tremble inside.
"Ms. Emily Johnson, now that the child can't be found, you should quickly go with the staff to search."
Sophia said with fake concern, adding some worry to her expression.
But Emily looked at her with sharp eyes.
The voice she heard that afternoon was Sophia's!
Among the girls with two pigtails on the show, besides Nina, there was one other little girl.
For this reason, Emily had specifically told the production team about her concerns for the three children's safety.
The production team had repeatedly assured her, but something still happened.
However, under everyone's watchful eyes, Emily had no evidence to prove Sophia was behind it, so she could only hold back her anger.
