Chapter 120 She Took the Initiative to Find Him
Elliot secretly recorded the scene of Daniel losing his temper in the small living room at Blossom Mansion.
Scarlett watched as Anais and the others turned pale from Daniel's words and left in embarrassment. She felt a mix of emotions stirring inside.
Anais, Calla, and the others were Blair's card game friends who used to visit Blossom Mansion often.
Every time they came to Blossom Mansion, Blair would specifically call Scarlett over.
Even though Blossom Mansion had servants, Blair always made Scarlett serve tea, pour water, bring fruit, and clean up the card table, with Calla and the others joining in.
They treated Scarlett like a servant. Four years ago, Scarlett was only eighteen or nineteen, young and easy to push around.
Scarlett had held onto hope of spending her life with Daniel, so she didn't dare upset Blair and ended up being bossed around constantly.
Now seeing Daniel stand up for her and defend her, Scarlett felt somewhat happy inside.
Scarlett was staring at her phone in a daze when it rang.
Seeing it was Elliot calling, Scarlett quickly answered.
"Scarlett, did you really divorce Daniel?"
Elliot asked anxiously. Scarlett frowned slightly because she could hear a lot of noise on his end.
It sounded like there were car horns too.
"That's adult business. Why are you asking so many questions? Aren't you sleeping? Why is it so noisy there?"
"I'm on my way to find you. I'll be there soon. Oh no! My phone's about to die. Scarlett, I gotta go."
Scarlett was worried about his safety when she heard this, but Elliot just hung up.
Scarlett couldn't sleep now. She jumped out of bed and called Elliot back, but his phone was already off.
Scarlett quickly changed clothes and rushed out the door.
She had just moved to her current place recently, and Elliot didn't know where it was.
Scarlett ran out of the residential area, got in her car, and called Jane. She suspected Elliot had gone to Regal Estate.
Jane answered quickly but said, "Mrs. Scarlett Wilson, Mr. Elliot Wilson came looking for you before, and I told him you don't live at Regal Estate anymore. Mr. Elliot Wilson probably didn't come here."
Scarlett frowned. She asked Jane to tell her immediately if she saw Elliot.
After hanging up, Scarlett looked at the pitch-black night outside the car window with a headache.
Although Elliot was pretty smart, he was still only an eight-year-old kid, and the Wilson family usually protected him well.
Coming out in the middle of the night to find her—Blair would never agree to that.
So he probably snuck out on his own. How could she not worry?
After a moment's hesitation, Scarlett called Daniel. At that time, Daniel was still in his office at the Star Group.
The phone rang, but Daniel didn't look at it, thinking it was Reid calling again like before.
The ringing stopped for a moment, then started again a second later. Anger flashed in Daniel's eyes.
But when he glanced at the screen, it suddenly faded. He doubted his own eyes.
She was actually calling him?
Daniel's breathing quickened slightly, and he immediately answered.
"Scarlett?"
Scarlett hadn't expected him to answer so quickly on the second call.
And somehow, she felt Daniel's voice sounded urgent.
He seemed to treasure this call.
She was stunned and didn't speak for a moment.
Then she heard his even softer voice.
"What's wrong? Did something happen?"
Only then did Scarlett snap back. "It's Elliot. He snuck out of Blossom Mansion. He just called saying he was coming to find me, but then I couldn't reach him.
I confirmed he didn't go to Regal Estate, and he probably doesn't know my current address either. I think he might have gone to the apartment complex where Sarah used to live. I'm out looking for him now, but it's pretty far and the traffic isn't great on my end."
There was a sound of a chair being pushed back on Daniel's end. His voice was low and reassuring.
"Okay, I got it. I'll have people look for him, and I'll head over right away too. Don't worry too much."
Scarlett felt relieved. "Then I'll hang up now."
"Okay." Daniel hung up and was already grabbing his coat and pushing out of his office.
Tom quickly stood up and walked over. Daniel headed quickly toward the elevator and said, "You don't need to follow."
Tom nodded, curious about where Daniel was going alone so late.
But there was still something that needed his approval. Tom followed for a couple more steps and asked, "Mr. Wilson, Mr. Reyes and the others are still drinking tea in the conference room. Should I...?"
Earlier that evening, Daniel had come back to the Star Group to work overtime and had Tom invite Byron, Joseph, and Orion Davis over.
When they arrived, Daniel didn't see them but had them kept in a small conference room drinking tea.
Daniel made them keep drinking tea without letting them use the bathroom.
Byron, Joseph, and Orion had been in the conference room for over three hours now, their faces pale, pacing back and forth constantly.
"Let them stay until midnight, then release them."
Daniel had reached the elevator and gave the order casually.
Tom nodded. "Do you have any message for them, Mr. Wilson?"
"Tell them to go home and ask their wives."
Daniel stepped into the elevator. Tom bowed and stepped back, then suddenly called out to Daniel in the elevator.
"Mr. Wilson, you might run into Mr. Brown if you go down now."
After Alice was sent back, the driver had told Reid about Daniel wanting to cancel the second phase of investment.
Reid had rushed over to the Star Group right away, but Daniel never let him come up.
Daniel did run into Reid waiting in the parking garage. When Reid saw Daniel striding over, he hurried forward.
"Daniel, did Alice do something wrong? She suffered so much as a child, and after coming back, we spoiled her. She's become more and more difficult. I apologize on her behalf. How can you change your mind about the investment just like that?"
Daniel completely ignored Reid, opened his car door, and bent down to get in.
Reid anxiously tried to grab the car door, but Daniel's cold gaze swept over him.
The warning in Daniel's eyes scared even Reid, who had been in business for half his life. Reid froze.
Daniel slammed the car door, started the engine, then lowered the window and said coldly, "Mr. Brown, instead of wasting your breath on me, you should properly discipline your troublesome daughter before she causes even bigger problems."
Reid thought Daniel and Alice had just had a lovers' quarrel, but Daniel's words were serious enough to be a warning.
As he frowned in thought, Daniel's car had already sped out of the underground garage.
Daniel arrived before Scarlett. He slowly drove to the old residential building and saw from a distance a small figure crouched by the flower bed.
He walked over and looked down at Elliot.
"At least you had the sense to wear a thick coat when you left."
Elliot was wearing a thick, oversized long down jacket. He looked up at the sound.
"Who do you think I did this for? You really have no heart. No wonder Scarlett doesn't want you anymore."
Daniel chuckled. "Get up."
"I can't. My legs are numb."
Daniel had to crouch down. Just as he was about to pick Elliot up, Elliot grabbed his coat collar.
"Daniel, did you really divorce Scarlett? You're going to regret this. Let me tell you, with the current gender ratio, one girl could have four boyfriends.
Scarlett is so beautiful. After you divorce her, do you believe dozens of men will chase after her at the same time? I feel sorry for you."
Daniel thought Elliot really knew how to make people uncomfortable. He tugged at the back of Elliot's neck, lifted him up directly, and scoffed, "Scarlett will never be past tense for me."
"What does that mean? Daniel, just tell me—do you like Scarlett or not?"
Scarlett hurried over and heard Elliot's slightly shrill question from a distance.
She stopped in her tracks, as if nailed to the spot, her eyes fixed on Daniel's broad back, holding her breath.
