Chapter 111 I Will Kill Him
Ramon returned the same smile and said calmly.
"James is my patient. Whether I resign or not, I'll see it through to the end. Scarlett is also my friend. Both personally and professionally, I should stay and help."
Ramon didn't back down at all. His gaze settled on Daniel's large hand around Scarlett's shoulder, and he continued with a smile.
"Since Mr. Wilson and Scarlett have registered for divorce, you should really keep your distance."
Daniel tightened his grip on Scarlett's shoulder, though his expression remained calm as he raised an eyebrow.
"It's just registration. Until everything is completely settled, nothing is certain, right, Mrs. Wilson?"
Daniel bent down slightly and asked near Scarlett's ear.
Scarlett naturally caught the threatening tone in Daniel's words. He was basically saying that if she didn't behave, he'd cancel the divorce registration.
Scarlett pressed her lips together and glared at Daniel, then turned to Ramon with an apologetic smile.
"Thanks for just now, Ramon. You must be pretty busy. I can handle my own problems, so I won't take up more of your time."
Ramon looked at Scarlett with gentle eyes. He smiled and nodded. "If you need anything, come find me anytime."
After he left, Scarlett turned to Daniel. "Ramon was right just now. We've already registered for divorce. I hope Mr. Wilson will keep his distance. Can you let go of me now?"
The sharpness in Daniel's eyes, which had softened after driving away his rival, instantly returned because of her cold words.
Alice watched them standing so intimately face to face as always, and jealousy consumed her.
She pushed Natalia forward.
Natalia went up to Daniel with a sad face. "Daniel, Scarlett is still just a young girl. She's never really traveled far from home before. How can I feel at ease with her suddenly taking James, who's still in a vegetative state, to live abroad? Let James stay in the country where I can look after him. That way Scarlett can have an easier time abroad."
In front of Daniel, Natalia couldn't directly mention asking Scarlett for ten million dollars, so she wanted to keep James behind.
As long as Natalia had James under her control, wouldn't Scarlett have to obediently send money back?
Marc and Susan also wanted to speak up, but Daniel's gaze swept coldly over them.
Daniel's presence was too strong. The three of them immediately didn't dare to speak.
Scarlett laughed sarcastically. Bullies who fear the strong!
But before she could say anything, Daniel nodded. "I think that makes sense. James should stay in the country."
The three of them immediately looked delighted, clearly not expecting Daniel to actually side with them.
But Scarlett's heart sank instantly, her fingertips feeling like the blood was flowing backwards.
Alice frowned, thinking many things at once.
Daniel couldn't be that simple—getting jealous over the divorce and deliberately supporting Natalia and the others to torment Scarlett.
James was someone Scarlett cared about. Could it be that Daniel wasn't sincere about the divorce and wanted to keep James behind to make Scarlett stay?
How could this be allowed?
Alice felt incredibly regretful now. If she had known Daniel would do this, she should have held back and let Scarlett leave the country smoothly.
"My business is none of yours to decide!"
Scarlett pushed Daniel hard. Daniel let go of Scarlett's shoulder but grabbed her wrist instead.
He threw a look at Tom behind him, and Tom stepped forward to address the three of them.
"Mr. Wilson and Mrs. Wilson have things to discuss. Please come with me, and we'll give you a satisfactory result."
Knowing Daniel was on their side, the three of them happily followed Tom without even asking questions.
Alice felt something was wrong and tried to follow, but Tom blocked her.
"Ms. Brown shouldn't get involved. After all, Ms. Brown hasn't been part of the Lewis family for a long time."
Tom's attitude was polite but distant. Alice stopped in her tracks.
She turned around, only to see Daniel already walking away with Scarlett's hand in his, leaving her standing there alone.
Alice ground her teeth in anger and tried to follow, when the hospital room door opened and Sarah walked out drying her hair.
Sarah had just protected Scarlett and gotten hit with rotten eggs, and had just cleaned up in the bathroom.
Sarah saw Alice at the door and grabbed her.
"You damn bitch, what are you sneaking around here for? Tell me, was it you who tipped off Natalia, had people throw rotten eggs at Scarlett, and tried to smear Scarlett in the livestream?"
Alice shook her hand away. "What nonsense are you talking about? I don't understand any of it! I came to visit James and just happened to run into this. Stop accusing me!
If you have evidence, you can call the police. Don't go around slandering people all the time. Are you simple-minded? Haven't you forgotten the lesson from last time when you were detained?"
The situation had already reversed. Kirk, who had been livestreaming, didn't even try to grab his phone back and ran off clutching his stomach.
And those who had thrown rotten eggs at them earlier had long disappeared.
Alice clearly felt that Sarah and Scarlett couldn't possibly have evidence, which was why she was so calm and full of mockery.
But Sarah's eyes lit up, and she nodded. "Right, I'll call the police now. After all, I still have the phone of that guy who was livestreaming. I wonder if the police can follow the trail and find whoever's behind this."
Alice's expression froze. She cursed the idiot silently.
How could he livestream and still let Sarah grab his phone?
Sarah looked at Alice's pale face and actually took out her phone and called the police right there.
Meanwhile, in the parking lot.
Scarlett was pulled into the car by Daniel. She was furious.
"Daniel, my family's business has nothing to do with you. I'm definitely taking James abroad for treatment. Stop interfering! And those people from the Ruth family who just want something for nothing—don't think I'll pay for them just so you can protect your reputation! I won't do it!"
Scarlett figured that Daniel was siding with Natalia's family simply because he was afraid people would say he was heartless and wouldn't help his ex-wife's relatives.
Daniel wanted his reputation, but whether she, Scarlett, was willing to go along with it was another matter.
Scarlett's eyes were red as she glared angrily at Daniel beside her, almost ready to punch and kick him.
Compared to her agitation, Daniel remained calm and simply said.
"Who said I was helping them get your money? I only said James should stay in the country."
Scarlett frowned. "What do you mean?"
Daniel's eyes were ice cold. "Scarlett, it seems you really haven't taken my words to heart. I told you before that I'd get better specialists to treat James. I also told you before that Ramon isn't as simple and harmless as you think, and to stay away from him! You deliberately go against me, looking for trouble, aren't you?"
Daniel tightened his grip on Scarlett's wrist. Scarlett stumbled uncontrollably into his arms.
Her nose bumped against his hard chest, causing a sharp pain, and tears immediately welled up in her eyes.
She looked up at him, her eyes seeming to burn with flames as she said angrily.
"You arrogant jerk, you annoying ex-husband, what right do you have to control who I'm with! I'm going to be with Ramon. Not only am I going abroad with him, but I'm also going to..."
Scarlett's reckless words were cut off as Daniel's large hand gripped both her cheeks, squeezing so she couldn't speak anymore.
She glared at him with puffed cheeks and red eyes, while his eyes seemed to harbor a storm as he said coldly.
"If you're not afraid of me killing him, keep talking!"
He looked so much like a jealous husband. Scarlett stared at him in a daze, her eyes flickering before she quieted down.
