Chapter 81 81

Chapter 81 81
Robert looked up at Brooke as she walked towards him. A smile spread on his face as he greeted. “It's good to see you today, Bee.”

She returned the smile before speaking. "It's good to see you too, Uncle Robert. I have good news for you. I am moving you out of the ICU today." She announced.

Brooke arrived at the hospital that morning. She first had consultation for the first few hours. After that, she went for a ward round. That was when she gave the order to move Robert out of the ICU. She also assisted in the transfer, to make sure everything was done well. But also, she knows that she would have to have a talk with the Thompsons. Because of the news that came to them.

"That is good news. Your presence brightens my day, Bee." Robert said with a smile. He is currently in a sitting position, inclined with his bed. "Thank you for moving me out of here. The place makes me feel bored and the continuous sounds of the monitors gives me anxiety."

Brooke smiled at him.

"Good morning, missus." Mrs Scooter greeted her.

"Morning Rose." Brooke greeted back with a smile. "And please, just call me Bee or Brooke." Brooke suggested.

Mrs Scooter only shook her head. She already told Brooke that she can't and that she will always be the missus of the villa to her.

"Aunt Marise has not arrived yet?" Brooke asked.

"Not yet." Robert answered. "She called earlier saying she would be here soon to bring food for lunch and another surprise. I wondered what sort of surprise there was. She seems to be excited about it though."

Brooke smiled. She already knows what the surprise would be.

Robert was ready to be moved. "Shall we, uncle?" Brooke asked before leading the way, while the nurses brought him along.

Soon, they arrived at his new room. It is more spacious and brighter. He felt he had more privacy there. "Now this is more like it." Robert expressed with a smile. He felt more comfortable there.

After settling, Brooke asked, "uncle, have you belch or passed gas yet?"

"No, not yet." Robert answered. "But I only started eating last night."

"Ok. The sooner your body adjusts, the sooner we can remove your catheter." Brooke said. "Also, you need to start getting up. Why don't you try moving now?" She suggested.

"My dear, can we wait till tomorrow? I feel pain all over and am very sore right now." Robert said with a squinted face. "How about tomorrow? We can start doing it tomorrow."

Brooke chuckled. "I understand, uncle. That is because of the surgery. It is best you start so that your bowel movements will go back to normal and your muscles will do the same. If you don't, that might cause trouble for us. Because your intestines might stick together and we don't want that."  Brooke reported.

"That doesn't sound like something I would want to experience." Robert said. He then stretched out his hand. "My dear, can you help me get up then?" He requested.

With a smile, Brooke came closer. "Sure, uncle." She and Mrs Scooter tried to help him up. After a few attempts, the final succeeded in getting him to stand up.

Robert groaned. "It really hurts to move a muscle but for the safety of my intestine, I will have to do it."

Brooke and Mrs Scooter giggled. They held his hand and helped him move near the bed.

They were at it when the door to the room was opened, after a knock.  A man, who seemed to be a driver, walked in with some bags. It seems to be bags of food. Marise soon walked in as well.

"Oh, Robert, you are up and walking already." She said with excitement.

"I had to. Bee here threatened me with my intestines" Robert answered.

Another set of laughter broke in the room again.

"Oh my dear Bee. I was hoping to find you here." Marise said, walking towards Brooke. She immediately embraced her.

Brooke had to let Robert's arm to hug Marise back. "My dear child, I am so glad we found you. You have always brought joy and smiles to our faces. That hasn't changed. He is perfect. He reminds me so much of Nathan when he was young." Marise said with teary eyes.

Marise finally releases Brooke from the hug. "I wasn't angry at all when I was told. I was mostly disappointed though. But all that is not necessary. We have to let the past go and start with what we have now. I am so glad you chose to share Liam with us. Thank you, my dear." She added with a shaky voice.

Brooke was soon teary-eyed as well. "I am sorry, Aunty. I decided to keep him to myself because I didn't know how Nathan was going to react. Because he made me believe he might not take such news well. Coming from me." Brooke explained.

"It's alright, my dear. I understand." Marise said, wiping Brooke's tears.

Robert and Rose kept looking at the two, dumbfounded. They had no Idea what they were talking about and neither did the conversation made any sense to them.

Rose helped Robert back to the bed. When he settled, he asked, "what is going on? What are you two talking about because you are not making any sense? Who is Liam and how is he shared?"  He probed further.

Marise chuckled as she sniffed her tears away. She then walked towards her husband. "Robert, our dear Bee, had a son with Nathan. His name is Liam."

"What!?" Robert asked with utter shock.

"Yes, honey. We are grandparents." Marise added. "It turned out when Brooke left Silverbrook, she was pregnant with Liam. Now Liam is an eight year old boy, who looks so much like our young Nathan. He is so adorable." She added and reached for her phone.

"Here, let me show you his pictures and videos that I took before coming. It is the surprise I was telling you about earlier on the phone." She added while tapping on her phone.

Robert watched the videos for a while, gawking while he was at it. He will pause the video, zoom in to take a closer look at Liam before playing it again. He played some over and over again.

Robert raised his head and looked at Brooke. "My dear child, when can I be discharged?." He asked.
