Chapter 67 67
Ashley looked away. She recalled that not long after she left, she found out Jenifer was living in their villa. "You missed me!? Really? That did not stop you from bringing her to our matrimonial home." She pointed out
"I did not. That is something you should know as well. I respect you too much to let that happen. She went to the villa without my knowledge. Immediately I found out, I sent her parking. She did not spend even a day in our matrimonial home."
"As I said, I thought you were avoiding me all the time. I tried calling and texting but nothing worked. I went to the Turners mansion but I was too late. You were already gone." Nathan narrated to her how it all happened.
"I was devastated and out of place. The short time I realized you were gone, I only think about you all the time, Bee." He leaned forward and reached for her hand. Brooke tried to pull away but Nathan made his grip more firm to stop her.
"That was when I realized my true feelings for you, Bee. I loved you then and I still love you now." He said in a calm voice.
Brooke moved a bit in her seat. But Nathan still couldn't find any reaction to her face from his confession. He thought maybe she had a doubt.
"For your birthday, I even planned a trip for us in Paris. I know you have always wanted to go there with me. I wanted us to have a time away and maybe start afresh. I didn't realize you had left then."
"What..." Brooke began but she squeezed her eyes and freed her hands from Nathan's grip. She rubbed her temple. Within seconds, all the emotions that were trying to show on her face disappeared. "Why did you do all that? After all, you have made it clear that you don't love me and you want nothing to do with me. Now why are you saying otherwise?"
"Bee, I know I made a mistake and I have no excuse for all that. But I really regretted my actions. You have no Idea to the extent I regret it all. By the time I realized how much you mean to me, it was already too late for me. You have to walk out of my life for me to realize how much you mean to me. I love you, Bee." Nathan said.
Nathan continued, giving her details of what happened that very day. How he went to the Turners mansion and found out she and her family were gone. In fact, the house was already sold.
He then went to every other place he could possibly get any information at all about Doctor Turner. But he couldn't get anything at all. All he got was how Doctor Turner had left his job, sold his shares and moved away. Worse, no one knew exactly where he went.
"I asked for Ryan's help. I asked him to check hospitals, since he works closer and has more contact there. But he couldn't get any information. I went on to hire a private investigator, who I know is the best. I was honestly surprised. I wondered how he couldn't get any information about your whereabouts." Nathan took a breath before he continued narrating the effort he put in finding her.
"I once ran into Nicole. I begged her to give me any information that would help me find you, but nothing. When her mother died, I believed you were going to show up. I spent the night at the cemetery, just so I don't miss when you arrive. But you never came."
"I did everything I could to find you, Bee. But I failed and that kept haunting me because I knew it was all my fault. I bought it upon myself -" Nathan added.
"Good afternoon," a waitress interrupted their conversation. She dropped some plates of appetizers and said, "the main dish will be served in five minutes."
At that moment, Brooke was in a deep thought. Nathan did all that just to find her? But then why didn't Ryan tell her about it? And Nicole too? They didn't give him any information but neither did they tell her what had happened.
She knew Ryan made a promise not to tell Nathan of her and also, she made him promise not to tell her anything about him. But why didn't Ryan think to force the information on her, maybe later on in years?
A part of her doesn't blame Ryan for not doing so. She made him promise that. She also knows her dad made him promise not to.
"Bee, please talk to me." Nathan pleaded.
His voice brought her out of her trail of thoughts.
"All this while, the plan was to stay away from you. What Nicole did was her way of doing just that." Brooke said.
"But Bee -"
"That is still Doctor Bee to you, Mr Leo." Brooke said coldly. She began to eat her appetizer, acting all normal. But deep down, she felt like she was in a dream. 'Is he for real? Is this all happening right now?' she thought to herself.
The Brooke of before would have been head over heels at Nathan's confession. But the present Brooke just sat there acting all normal, after Nathan confessed his love to her.
"What about Keren? Where is she?" She asked, after swallowing the content in her mouth. "I guess there is something I needed to hear about her too."
"Keren turned out to be not the person I thought she was." Nathan began. "My suspicion of her began after I recovered the text message you sent me, which she deleted."
Nathan began to narrate the things Keren did. How she staged her own assault. Doing everything she could to make Brooke jealous. Making Nathan feel guilty at every opportunity she got. For her lack of a job and a life entirely. How she tricked Mrs Scooter into taking her to their Vila.
"Things started to become more and more suspicious with Keren. So I hired a private investigator to look into her. It was a good thing I hired one. He found out that Keren is actually Georgina Parks. She had her name changed and multiple plastic surgeries to look somewhat like you. Because of all this, I made sure she paid. I have her locked up and it is going to last for a long time." Nathan added.
This time around, Brooke couldn't hide her emotions. She became stiff for a moment at Nathan's revelation. She couldn't believe what she heard. She stopped eating and dropped her cutlery altogether.
