Chapter 7 Already Married, Make Do with It
Over the years, Preston had visited countless top doctors, but his condition never showed the slightest improvement.
As time went on, he gradually lost hope of ever getting better.
Sophia marrying to him might give her some temporary comfort, but what would happen to her after he was gone?
When he died... what would Sophia do?
Sophia looked at him with a smile, "We're married now, so let's just make the best of it!"
After all, she had nowhere else to go.
If Matthew Moore found out she had run away and was suffering so much at the Brown's hands, he would be livid!
Finn noticed the various small porcelain bottles on the floor and quickly picked one up to examine it.
With Sophia's permission, he opened the stopper and sniffed it, his expression changing dramatically.
Benjamin noticed his reaction and asked gravely, "What is it? Is there something wrong with the medicine?"
Sophia was so naive; could she have been deceived?
Over the years, Preston had sought help from numerous medical experts and reclusive healers, but no one had ever been able to immediately identify that he had been poisoned.
How could a girl like Sophia, who had just turned twenty, possibly be more skilled than doctors with decades of experience?
The thought of Sophia being tricked made Benjamin's face darken, and a cold light flashed in his eyes.
Finn opened another bottle and sniffed it, exclaiming excitedly, "Mr. White, this is Revival Elixir!"
Inside the small porcelain bottle were five Revival Elixirs!
Finn was so shocked he could barely speak.
Even Benjamin, who was usually calm and composed, looked astonished.
Revival Elixir was a top-notch antidote that could neutralize any poison and also extend life.
It was said to have been developed by the famous doctor Robert to cure his apprentice's poisoning, and its effectiveness was unparalleled.
"Revival Elixir is priceless; even the wealthiest people can't buy it. Are you sure you didn't make a mistake, Finn?" Benjamin asked suspiciously.
Benjamin's skepticism was understandable.
Even the White Family, a top-tier elite family, couldn't buy Revival Elixir with money, which showed how rare it was.
The last time Benjamin had seen Revival Elixir was at an auction six months ago.
The White Family had bought a single Revival Elixir for thirty million dollars to suppress the poison in Benjamin's body.
Unfortunately, the Revival Elixir could only suppress the poison and couldn't completely cure him.
Benjamin took the small porcelain bottle from Finn, his expression complicated.
The White Family had been searching for Robert and his Revival Elixir for years.
Even if the Revival Elixir couldn't completely cure Benjamin, it was still beneficial to suppress the poison.
Finn shook his head confidently, "I'm sure of it. This is definitely Revival Elixir. It has a unique fruity wood scent that I remember very clearly."
Benjamin sniffed the bottle, and the faint, familiar scent reached his nostrils. He instinctively looked up at Sophia.
Sophia listened to their discussion about the elixir's rarity, scratching her head in confusion.
She had made it casually; was it really that valuable?
There were so few on the market because she was too lazy to make more.
And Matthew, who sold her medicines, had been tied up with international business for the past six months and hadn't had time to get more from her. No wonder they were rare!
Sophia huffed proudly, her face full of smugness.
She looked up and suddenly saw Benjamin's handsome face magnified in front of her.
Sophia's eyelashes fluttered, and her gaze landed on his thin, cool lips. She quickly leaned in and gave him a peck.
After pulling back, she licked her lips, savoring the moment.
Finn, who was forced to witness the affectionate scene.
Finn watched as Benjamin's body stiffened and couldn't help but laugh.
Who would have thought that their usually aloof Benjamin would have such a day?
He had to tell Preston this good news!
Benjamin stood rigid, his eyes deep and dangerous.
Sophia met his cold, dark gaze and instinctively shrank back, "Honey..."
Benjamin snapped out of it and quickly stepped back.
Seeing Sophia's puzzled expression, Benjamin felt secretly annoyed.
How could he let a woman unsettle him so easily?
Over the years, countless women had tried to get close to him and climb into his bed, but they only made him feel disgusted.
But with Sophia, he felt no aversion at all. In fact, an unusual emotion was slowly spreading in his heart.
Benjamin thought he must be out of sorts.
Otherwise, why would he keep letting Sophia take advantage of him?
With a stern face, he warned Sophia, "Sophia, you can't kiss me or touch me anymore."
Finn, who had been about to find Preston, stopped in his tracks and turned to Benjamin with a worried expression.
'Mr. White, do you know how hard it is to find a wife these days? Mrs. White doesn't mind you, and you won't let her get close? You don't know how lucky you are!' Finn thought helplessly.
Sophia tilted her head and asked regretfully, "Why? You're my husband! We're legally married. Isn't it natural for me to kiss you?"
Benjamin was at a loss. "No, it's not! We have a marriage of convenience, without any emotional foundation."
"That's precisely why we need to build it. Someone once said that physical contact and kisses are the best ways to foster feelings."
Benjamin was speechless.
Finn clapped his hands excitedly, "Well said! Mrs. White, you're absolutely right! Couples need to have more contact to foster feelings."
He leaned in and whispered to Sophia, "Mrs. White, don't be sad. Mr. White is just shy."
Benjamin glared at Finn, his ears turning slightly red, "Finn! Stop leading her astray."
Finn awkwardly touched his nose but stood his ground, "Mr. White, I'm just telling the truth!"
Seeing Finn's teasing look, Benjamin's ears turned even redder.
He maintained a stern expression, trying to keep his emotions in check and not let his face betray him.
Knowing when to stop, Finn quickly changed the subject, "By the way, Mrs. White, where did you get these medicines?"
The bottles on the floor looked ordinary, but a closer look revealed that each one contained priceless medicine.
These weren't something an ordinary person could afford.
According to his investigation, Sophia had been raised in the countryside before the Brown Family found her and had hardly seen the world.
Could these medicines have come from the Brown Family?
Unlikely...
