Chapter 417 Dress
Sophia was wearing a sky-blue dress today with an off-shoulder design that showed her smooth, fair shoulders.
The thin fabric of the dress showed off her figure perfectly. Combined with her carefully pinned-up hair, she had a vintage charm about her.
The dress had delicate hand embroidery on it, and as Sophia moved, her slender, pale legs appeared and disappeared beneath the hem.
When she came out of the bathroom, Benjamin hadn't gone downstairs. Instead, he was sitting on the sofa waiting for her.
And there was someone else in the room.
When Chase saw how Sophia was dressed, he couldn't help but gasp, his eyes full of amazement.
Even though he saw Sophia's face almost every day, he was still blown away at this moment.
Sophia looked absolutely stunning! No wonder Benjamin was so devoted to her.
But before he could look at her for more than a few seconds, his view was blocked by a hand with prominent knuckles.
Everything suddenly went dark.
"Get out."
Benjamin's voice came through, tinged with anger. Chase felt the coolness from Benjamin's palm and couldn't help but get goosebumps all over.
"Mr. White?" He was confused. Didn't Benjamin hate touching other people the most?
Why was Benjamin acting so strange today?
But he quickly figured it out. Benjamin's strange behavior started when Sophia came out.
Looks like Benjamin was jealous.
Chase was sure he'd guessed right. He slowly took a step back, then quickly turned around.
"Mr. White, I didn't see anything! I'll wait for you guys outside!"
He knew when to make himself scarce!
As Benjamin's most understanding assistant, he knew the best thing to do right now was to disappear.
After Chase left, Benjamin stood up from the sofa and walked toward Sophia.
His tall figure surrounded Sophia, and a dark gleam flickered in his deep eyes.
"Does it look good?" Sophia looked at him with bright eyes, full of expectation.
In those clear eyes, Benjamin saw his own reflection, as if her eyes held only him at this moment.
He reached out, his rough fingertips brushing across her fair, delicate face. "It looks good."
This was the first time he'd seen Sophia in a dress since he came back. It really suited her.
"I think so too." Sophia responded without any modesty.
Looking at her playful manner, Benjamin couldn't help but smile.
After thinking for a moment, he took off his suit jacket and draped it over Sophia's shoulders.
"What are you doing?"
Sophia looked at the oversized jacket on her with distaste. Here we go again, covering up her dress.
Benjamin cleared his throat and made up an excuse. "It's cold outside, put it on."
Because he felt guilty, his tone wasn't as cold and hard as usual.
Sophia narrowed her eyes, looking like she'd seen right through him. "You're so petty!"
With that, without waiting for his response, Sophia walked out of the hospital room in her heels.
Benjamin rubbed his temples helplessly. Who could be generous with such a beautiful wife?
He couldn't, anyway.
He quickly followed, gently tugging at the sleeve of the jacket on her shoulders.
Benjamin didn't say a word, but Sophia understood what he meant—he was giving in to her.
Sophia's red lips curved up slightly. She glanced at him and quickened her pace.
A vein twitched at Benjamin's temple, and he couldn't help but remind her, "Slow down, be careful not to fall."
He really didn't know who picked these heels—they were way too high.
As Sophia walked, Benjamin stayed by her side, his heart in his throat, worried she might twist her ankle.
Just like a father worried sick about his child.
The doctors and nurses in the hospital, along with passing patients and their families, all showed amazed looks when they saw Benjamin and Sophia.
Some even took out their phones to take photos and videos, posting them online.
The caption read: "Bossy CEO and his pampered wife come to life!"
Half an hour later, the car arrived at the Martinez Villa. It was still early, and many guests hadn't arrived yet.
Adelaide was directing the staff to check the decorations in the living room. When she saw Benjamin and Sophia arrive, she immediately went out to greet them.
"Benjamin, Sophia, you're here?"
"Adelaide, long time no see." Sophia went forward and hugged Adelaide's arm affectionately.
Adelaide reached out and pinched her soft cheek, her smile deepening.
"I heard Sophia has been at the hospital taking care of Benjamin? That must have been hard. Make him make it up to you later."
"Okay!"
Sophia agreed with a smile, lightly tapping Benjamin's shoe with her diamond-studded shoe tip. "Did you hear that? Remember to make it up to me later."
Benjamin found it both funny and helpless, but what could he do?
He could only agree.
After all, she was the most spoiled one in the family.
Sophia lifted her chin with satisfaction and asked Adelaide, "Adelaide, is there anything we can help with?"
Adelaide didn't stand on ceremony with them. "Everything's already done. You and Benjamin go upstairs and rest. When the guests arrive, help me entertain them."
"Okay."
Sophia took Benjamin's hand and headed toward the second floor. "I haven't seen Tobias in a long time. Let's go see him."
Since Amelia returned to the Martinez Villa, Tobias had been upset every day.
The worst time, Amelia made Tobias so angry he passed out, though fortunately nothing serious happened.
So Sophia was most worried about Tobias's health.
Although she and Tobias had only met a few times, she could feel his affection for her.
Plus, she'd heard he was Preston's good friend, and they'd known each other for over forty years.
Tobias was sitting in his study chatting with Preston at the moment.
Hearing a knock at the door, Tobias immediately called out, "Come in."
Sophia and Benjamin pushed the door open and greeted them with smiles. "Tobias, Preston."
"You're here? Come sit, sit. Preston and I were just talking about you two." Tobias waved at Sophia and Benjamin warmly.
Sophia asked curiously, "About us?"
"Yes, the calming incense you reformulated a few days ago works really well. I haven't slept this soundly in ages."
Tobias's study had a faint fragrance—something Sophia had specially made for him with calming properties.
Most importantly, Amelia hadn't been home these past few days.
So the calming incense's effects were fully working.
Still, she reminded him, "Tobias, the calming incense can only help. If you feel unwell, you must go to the hospital right away."
"Okay, I'll remember."
They chatted for a few more minutes when there was another knock at the study door.
This time, it was Amelia who entered—Amelia, who had disappeared for several days.
She looked much thinner than before. Even with makeup on, her face couldn't hide the weariness and haggardness.
Without waiting for Tobias's permission, she pushed the door open and walked into the study.
Seeing that Sophia and Benjamin were also there, she paused, a flash of coldness crossing her eyes.
"Dad, I'm back."
Tobias's expression immediately darkened. "You still know to come back? Where have you been all these days?"
As her biological father, it would be a lie to say Tobias didn't care about Amelia.
But more than anything, Tobias felt frustrated that she wasn't living up to her potential.
