Chapter 11 Bad Woman!
The servants were all taken aback. Who was this woman standing before them?
Benjamin noticed the curious stares directed at Sophia and subtly stepped forward to shield her from their prying eyes. "Where's Grandpa? I need to talk to him."
One of the servants snapped out of their daze and stammered, "He's... he's in the study."
Benjamin's tall, straight figure and cold demeanor exuded an aura of icy strength, making everyone feel a sense of dread and not daring to look directly at him.
He glanced around at the servants and introduced, "This is my wife, Sophia."
His deep, husky voice carried a hint of unspoken allure, yet his words were as cold as ice.
The servants all shuddered and quickly greeted Sophia, "Hello, Mrs. White."
Sophia peeked out from behind Benjamin, her lips curling into a slight smile. "Hi, everyone. I'm Sophia. Please take care of me."
"N-no problem…"
"Mrs. White is so beautiful, even more so than Ms. Belle."
One of the servants, with a simple, honest smile, was elbowed mid-sentence by someone next to her.
Realizing her mistake, her face turned red, and she quickly lowered her head, falling silent.
Sophia clung to Benjamin's arm, her delicate eyebrows arching into little crescents. "Honey, she said I'm pretty."
Benjamin raised an eyebrow, seemingly not understanding why she was so happy.
But since Sophia was rarely this cheerful, he responded, "She's right."
Though he had never paid much attention to a woman's appearance before, he had to admit that Sophia was indeed beautiful.
Feeling pleased, he held Sophia's hand and led her inside.
As they passed the servant who had complimented Sophia, he asked, "What's your name?"
The servant felt the intense aura emanating from Benjamin and tensed up.
She quickly responded, "Mr. White, my name is Emma Kate."
Benjamin nodded and told her, "Your salary will be doubled this month. Go see Finn later."
Emma was momentarily stunned, unable to process what had just happened.
It wasn't until someone nudged her from behind that she snapped out of it, excitedly thanking Benjamin, "Thank you, Mr. White! Thank you, Mrs. White!"
For Emma, this was a surprise.
She never imagined that a simple compliment would double her salary for the month.
It seemed that Sophia was very special to Benjamin.
In all her years working for the White family, she had never seen the cold-hearted Benjamin be so gentle and considerate to any woman.
Now, Emma's gaze towards Sophia had changed, filled with admiration and respect.
Benjamin led Sophia up to the second floor, heading towards the study.
However, as they reached the top of the stairs, a woman in a dark blue dress approached.
Benjamin's lips pressed into a thin line, his deep eyes flickering with a cold frost.
"Benjamin." Amelia stopped in front of Benjamin, her gaze immediately falling on Sophia beside him.
When Amelia saw Sophia's face, she was momentarily taken aback.
She hadn't expected Sophia to be so beautiful.
Sophia was petite and slender, her face glowing with health. Her delicate features and cherry-red lips exuded a subtle charm.
She was stunning in every way.
Combined, these features made her irresistibly captivating.
Amelia frowned.
This appearance and demeanor—how could she possibly be suitable to be Benjamin's wife?
Clinging to a man's arm in public, practically glued to him.
This was not the behavior of a daughter raised in a prestigious family.
She seemed more like a spoiled mistress, desperately seeking affection.
Amelia's lips tightened, her eyes filled with displeasure.
Noticing Amelia's critical and disdainful gaze, Benjamin stepped forward, shielding Sophia.
"This is my wife, Sophia. Sophia, this is… Mrs. Amelia White."
Sophia, hidden behind Benjamin, looked surprised.
She tugged at Benjamin's shirt, and in his puzzled gaze, she whispered, "Is this mean woman really your mother? Your biological mother?"
Benjamin hadn't expected Sophia to ask this.
He was momentarily stunned, then nodded.
Though he hated to admit it, this was indeed the woman who had given birth to him after ten months of pregnancy.
He looked down at the glaring Sophia and asked, "Why? Have you met her before?"
Sophia clenched her fists, pointing angrily at Amelia. "She's the one who insisted on taking me out for candy, and that's how I got lost."
"What?" Benjamin frowned, his sharp, cold eyes locking onto Amelia.
His hands clenched into fists, his handsome face darkening, an icy aura spreading from him.
The air around seemed to freeze for a moment.
"You told me Sophia wandered off on her own and got lost?" Benjamin's voice was tight with anger, his eyes bloodshot as he stared at Amelia.
When Sophia was one, she was kidnapped by a group of criminals and taken to the southwestern border of Novaria for medical experiments, where she stayed for two years.
When she turned three, Benjamin was also kidnapped and taken to the same lab.
Shortly after, the White family found the lab and rescued the kidnapped children.
Benjamin, unconscious, held the dying Sophia, vowing to raise her if her parents couldn't be found.
But when he woke up, Amelia told him Sophia had wandered off and gotten lost.
Benjamin had been secretly searching for Sophia ever since, but to no avail.
Hearing Sophia's words, Amelia was also stunned, finding it hard to believe.
"You're that little girl from back then?"
"This… this can't be!"
"Benjamin, listen to me, I didn't…"
"It was you! It was definitely you! I'd never forget!" Sophia glared at Amelia, hands on her hips, her small face puffed up with anger.
If it weren't for the fact that Amelia was Benjamin's mother, she would have given her a piece of her mind.
Amelia opened her mouth to explain, but noticed Benjamin's gaze had changed.
It was filled with an indescribable coldness.
