Chapter 73 So, it's Ms. Audrey!
The Fairmont family's charity event this time was quite exclusive. Not many were invited, and it seemed only a few people who were close and important to the family were present.
In the corner of the ball room, which was not very large but looked luxurious and elegant, Elliot stood with a glass of cold drink in his hand, while the other hand nervously played with his fingers behind his back.
Actually, the man did not mind attending events like this, but his heart was restless because he had not contacted Audrey since last night.
Elliot was almost unable to restrain himself from immediately pulling out the phone in his jacket pocket.
However, if his mother found out he was doing it in the middle of the event, it was guaranteed that Rebecca would not let him have peace all year!
All morning, her mother had not allowed Elliot to be idle. There was always something his mother asked the man to do in preparation for attending this Fairmont family event. Rebecca's attitude made Kent and Lyra only able to shake their heads, while Finn only chuckled as usual.
"Earth to Elliot," Finn whispered while gently nudging his brother's arm, his gaze full of teasing.
Elliot clicked his tongue softly, throwing a lazy glance at his younger brother. "What is it?"
Finn tilted his head, still with his annoying grin. "You looks like a tormented person being here. And keeps checking his jacket pocket. Are you waiting for a message from someone? A partner, perhaps? Why didn't you invite her?"
Hearing that, Elliot's jaw tightened slightly. He tried to keep his expression calm, but Finn was too sharp not to catch the small changes in his older brother.
"I don't have a partner, so don't start talking nonsense," Elliot replied, his voice flat.
However, instead of stopping, Finn chuckled softly. "Oh, then who was the woman you invited to the hotel that time? I know you would never be like that, so don't hide anything—"
"I'm not hiding anything!" Elliot quickly retorted, although his voice sounded a little nervous.
"Really?" Finn narrowed his eyes, looking at Elliot like a detective. "Then why do you look so restless this morning? And why have you been wanting to check your phone since earlier, but are afraid of getting caught by Mom?"
Elliot snorted, glancing briefly at Rebecca who was busy talking to Lyra and Kent.
Finn chuckled. "So the question from earlier wasn't about her? I'm sure my intuition is correct. So, who is it? At least give me a hint!"
"Just shut up!" Elliot hissed, glaring slightly.
Elliot's attitude like that only made Finn want to tease him more.
The young man moved his face closer to Elliot's, wanting to dig deeper. "Or do you want me to ask Mom? If you really don't have anyone, Mom would be very happy to match you with Catherine."
Elliot immediately frowned upon hearing Catherine's name mentioned. He stared sharply at his brother, making Finn laugh softly.
"Aha! See? I knew I was right!" Finn pointed at his brother triumphantly.
Elliot sighed deeply, rubbing his face with one hand.
"Wait, don't tell me..." Finn lowered his voice to a whisper. "Don't tell me it's about your beautiful secretary?"
Elliot's eyes instantly widened, but he immediately composed himself and put on a flat expression. "What are you talking about?"
"Ms. Audrey, right?" Finn guessed, his smile widening. "Oh, so it's really her? Wow, Bro, you're really keeping a big secre—"
"Finn Harrington!" Elliot's tone became lower, almost like a warning.
Unfortunately, Finn showed no signs of backing down. "If it's really her, you should have brought her to today's event. I really want to see Mom's reaction!"
Elliot stared sharply at Finn, his jaw clenching. "Enough!"
His brother merely shrugged, still with a mischievous chuckle. "Alright, alright. I'm just kidding. But if it really is Ms. Audrey..."
Finn paused, making Elliot instantly curious, causing his heart to beat fast. "I support you."
Elliot was a little surprised that his brother would say that and sound sincere. He suspected it might be because Finn also had a similar condition and situation, remembering their conversation at that time.
Just as Elliot wanted to say something, Rebecca's gentle call was heard. She was with Catherine and also Mrs. Fairmont, telling him to approach.
"Duty calls," Finn whispered, chuckling, making Elliot sigh again.
The man turned around and immediately took his phone out of his jacket pocket, quickly slipping it into his brother's jacket pocket, so that no one would see it.
Finn was quite surprised. "Hey, what the—"
"Since you already know, please call Audrey. Ask how she is. You're the only one who can move freely to another area and do that."
Elliot's words, spoken without a break, made Finn quite confused for a moment before he finally nodded in understanding. "Alright..."
A sense of relief immediately spread across Elliot's face.
"What's Ms. Audrey's name?" Finn asked, making Elliot's eyebrows furrow.
"What do you mean? Her name is Audrey."
"Oh. Audrey." Finn then smiled mischievously. "I thought her name had been changed to My Love—"
"Say that again, and I'll make sure you don't receive a job offer for the rest of your life!" Elliot threatened, sounding serious.
"Yes, yes! Jeez, so sensitive!" Finn grumbled.
While the young man briefly disappeared to carry out the task from his older brother, Elliot approached his mother to carry out the mandatory command throughout the event.
Be kind and friendly to the Fairmont family, especially to Catherine.
They then chatted briefly, typical of the upper class, which was sometimes boring for Elliot.
He wasn't even fully focused on the conversation around him, more busy glancing towards Finn, who seemed to still be trying to contact Audrey.
Elliot watched Finn closely. Until he felt his brother was taking too long and still hadn't succeeded.
Seeing Finn's face slowly turn worried, Elliot's forehead furrowed as his heart pounded fast.
This is not good...
