Chapter 74

Chapter 74

Elizabeth's POV

After making that scene at the Smith family's place, what surprised me was that Aiden actually reached out to me several times on his own initiative.

At first, it was just tentative text messages. When he saw I wasn't responding, he got bold enough to call me directly.

A few times when I was busy with projects and received Aiden's calls, I got so angry that I just blocked him.

However, on this particular day, he brazenly waited downstairs at the Windsor Family building, seemingly not afraid at all that Alexander would give him trouble.

The second I saw him, I couldn't help rolling my eyes, wanting to avoid his gaze.

As soon as Aiden spotted me, he immediately followed, quickening his pace to catch up with mine.

"Elizabeth, let's talk. Do you have time?"

Being pestered by him like this, I only regretted in my heart why I came downstairs alone. I should have stayed behind Alexander - that would have saved me this trouble.

"Can you leave?" After being blocked by Aiden again, I said directly to him, "If you keep following me like this, I'm calling company security."

He seemed not to have expected this kind of attitude from me. Aiden's whole face froze.

He looked back somewhat warily at the tall building behind him, then said, "Elizabeth, you and Mr. Windsor aren't really in that kind of relationship, right? He only cares about the child in your belly."

His gaze toward my abdomen suddenly changed, carrying a barely detectable malice.

Then, leaning closer, he said quietly, "Elizabeth, you're on edge staying by Alexander's side, aren't you? Why don't you come back, and I'll help you get rid of this child?"

Hearing this, I looked at him in disbelief, my brows furrowing tightly.

"What kind of joke is this?"

I was certain Aiden wasn't joking, but was seriously considering this matter.

In other words, he was no longer focusing on me, but had shifted his attention to the child?

"Aiden, if you keep following me, I'm calling Alexander right now. You can explain it to him yourself!"

Seeing that I was really going for my phone, Aiden immediately distanced himself from me.

Looking at how pathetic he was acting, I couldn't help but sneer.

"Stop being an eyesore here." I said directly to him, giving him no face whatsoever.

Seeing me put my phone away, Aiden rushed over again, directly grabbing my wrist.

"What are you doing?"

Aiden's expression completely changed, filled with intense possessiveness, shouting at me, "Why don't you just leave with me directly? I can explain the rest."

His face was full of certainty, as if he really thought that just by saying this, I would obediently go with him.

"What are you doing!" I pushed him away forcefully, my face full of impatience, "I have nothing to do with you. Can you stop being so disgusting?"

Aiden looked completely incredulous, his fingertips trembling, "What did you call me? Disgusting? Elizabeth, is this what I've become in your heart?"

I responded to his question with silence, but the corners of my mouth couldn't help curving up.

Clearly, that's exactly what I thought.

But he seemed completely unable to accept it, as if he'd received a huge blow.

I just found it ironic. Even at this point, he still thought I was deliberately trying to upset him.

Even when trying to take me away, he never asked for my opinion.

Even now, Aiden was still so self-centered that he had no intention of respecting me.

"What's going on here?"

Just as we were entangled, a sharp voice suddenly came from behind - it was Charles's voice.

He strode over, forcibly separating Aiden and me.

Aiden tensed up at first, but relaxed when he saw it was Charles, putting on airs, "You're Mr. Windsor's assistant, right? I'm just here to discuss something with my ex-fiancée. You have no reason to stop me, do you?"

"You said it yourself - ex-fiancée."

An even colder voice came from behind them. The expression on Aiden's face instantly froze, his whole body stiffening.

He slowly turned around, and when he saw Alexander, he completely froze, losing all his earlier arrogance.

Watching this scene, I couldn't help but smile coldly.

Aiden was still like this even now, never having changed.

"Elizabeth, what are you doing here?"

I looked at him and said, "I was just about to come find you when he stopped me."

Alexander looked over coldly. Aiden hastily denied it, waving his hands, "This is all a misunderstanding. I didn't mean to stop her."

"Is that so?" Alexander smiled meaningfully. Aiden immediately broke out in cold sweat on his back, then said, "Yes."

"Then why did you come here?"

Alexander seemed to be in quite a good mood. When he said this to him, there was even a smile on his face. Even I wondered if he was joking.

Aiden looked over somewhat fearfully, then said, "I just wanted to come take a look."

His voice was incredibly weak. I could also see Aiden's slightly trembling hands and knew he'd reached his limit.

"If there's nothing, get lost." Alexander spoke before I could, one hand directly grasping mine.

As our fingertips touched, I couldn't help but turn my head to look at him, feeling the warm sensation from his palm.

Alexander was holding my hand, looking completely natural, not feeling anything was wrong at all.

I had just opened my mouth when I immediately fell silent, looking back at Aiden.

So I directly raised Alexander's hand and said to him, "Now you can see clearly what kind of relationship Mr. Windsor and I have. Next time you come harass me, don't blame me for not being nice."

From Aiden's eyes, I saw long-lost pain.

That emotion was captured by me and quickly ignored.

Not enough. This little bit of pain wasn't nearly enough for Aiden.

Aiden's eyes were now full of disbelief. Gritting his teeth, he said, "Elizabeth, I still have things I haven't finished saying to you. Can you..."

"No." I cut him off decisively, pulling Alexander's hand and quickly leaving.

Alexander's voice came from beside me. Looking at me, he said, "Aren't you trying to get revenge on him?"

"Compared to physical pain, I'd rather he suffer mental torment. When he can't take it anymore, then I'll torture him properly."

Alexander said nothing more.

Only after disappearing from Aiden's view did I realize that Alexander and I had been holding hands the whole time. I quickly let go.

I felt nervous and flustered for a moment.

Alexander didn't have any particular reaction. Looking down at me, there was even a hint of amusement in his eyes.

He didn't seem to think holding hands was anything bad, even saying matter-of-factly, "Pretend to be my girlfriend. I've run into some trouble."
