Chapter 71
Elizabeth's POV
"Ms. Johnson, aren't you always the friendliest one? Now it looks like you want to tear me apart?"
I smiled at her and lifted my chin defiantly.
"Besides, you're making such a scene. People who don't know better might think you're guilty and trying to cover something up."
Aiden finally walked over, took Bianca's hand, and asked with concern, "Are you feeling unwell anywhere? You should go back and rest. Let me talk to her alone."
Bianca immediately tensed up when she heard this, gripping Aiden's hand and refusing to let go.
"But I don't want to see you two alone together. I'll get jealous. Aiden, you have me now, right? Please don't be alone with her, okay?"
Aiden was clearly swayed and turned to look at me.
"Elizabeth, why don't you head back first. There's nothing left for us to talk about now."
My eyes swept back and forth between the two of them, my patience nearly exhausted.
I came here today specifically to clear this matter up, but in the end, Aiden cared so much about Bianca.
I could clearly feel that he was starting to doubt, but when the words came to his lips, he told me to leave instead.
"Aiden, listen carefully. She's not sick at all. She just bribed a doctor to deceive you."
As soon as I finished speaking, Bianca's entire face turned deathly pale. She bit her lip and looked at me. "What are you talking about? Elizabeth, I haven't done anything to offend you, have I?"
Her face went from flushed to pale, completely avoiding looking at Aiden's expression beside her.
Bianca was scared.
Just then, Cleo, who had been standing in the back, suddenly spoke up, "What do you mean? Are you saying Bianca has been faking her illness all along to get our sympathy?"
I raised an eyebrow at Cleo and smiled. "Of course. I have no reason to lie. Or we can all go to the hospital right now. I'll have Mr. Windsor arrange for an absolutely impartial doctor."
When I mentioned Alexander, the whole space became awkward again.
Everyone's eyes were on me, and no one looked away first.
"How is that possible?" Aiden was completely stunned, muttering to himself.
"If Bianca isn't sick at all, then I also..."
Bianca tried several times to interrupt his thoughts, but when the words came to her lips, she couldn't say a single word.
I looked at her and suddenly laughed. "Yes, her only goal was to get me killed. Aiden, you know who's backing me now. I have no reason to lie to you about something like this."
Like I said, when it comes to choosing between Aiden and Alexander, anyone with a brain knows what to choose.
Although I don't have those kinds of feelings for Alexander, when the choice is right in front of me, I won't hesitate at all.
Bianca belatedly reached for Aiden's hand, but was pushed away directly.
He glared at her with red eyes, squeezing out a few words through clenched teeth, "Don't touch me."
Sure enough, Aiden was angry.
I looked at him coldly and continued, "I've said what I needed to say. You can verify the rest yourself. Goodbye."
I turned to leave, but Bianca suddenly shouted at my back, "Stop right there! You're lying! Things aren't at all like you said!"
I smiled.
I pointed at Aiden beside her. "Then you should explain it to him."
Actually, Aiden wasn't as intense as I'd imagined. He even looked completely dazed.
But none of this had anything to do with me. After all, this is how people should react when they hear something major.
But just as I turned around, Aiden suddenly pushed Bianca away.
Bianca fell to the ground, her whole body aching, but it couldn't compare to the shock in her heart.
"Aiden, what do you mean by this?"
Her whole face was panicked, and she looked at me sharply. "Elizabeth! This is all your fault! You're deliberately trying to drive a wedge between us! Go explain to him quickly that it's not what you said."
"If it's not what I said, then what is it? Do you dare go to the hospital with me right now?"
Bianca was cornered again, with everyone's eyes on her.
Finally, she lifted her chin, "Fine, let's go to the hospital then."
Aiden was stunned by this answer.
He looked at her with some uncertainty and asked, "You're willing to go to the hospital?"
This answer surprised me too.
After all, the facts were clear. Was Bianca trying to buy time?
"We can go to the hospital, but I need to go to a place I arranged."
Maybe this was her backup plan. After all, from the beginning, she had bribed a doctor to create false evidence.
I just hadn't considered this point. If I wanted to ask Alexander for help, I'd have to talk to him separately.
"Why should I go to a place you arrange? What if you want to tamper with things?" Bianca was completely prepared to turn the tables.
"Then how about letting Aiden arrange it?"
Aiden, still somewhat dazed from the huge amount of information, turned to look at me and suddenly asked, "Why are you telling me all this?"
"I stated my purpose from the beginning. I just don't want you to be a threat to me anymore."
My words were too direct, and I couldn't control the coldness in my eyes.
Aiden looked at me strangely, as if shocked that I actually knew these things.
"Good that you understand."
After I said this, Aiden rarely even looked in Bianca's direction anymore.
He pressed his lips together and suddenly said, "In that case, let's go to the hospital."
Bianca had no reason to make more excuses. She still looked at him with a hurt expression, her eyes full of sorrow.
"Going to the hospital means you don't trust me."
Aiden didn't look at her again. "Going to the hospital will reveal the truth."
Tears finally flowed from Bianca's eyes, and she suddenly laughed. "Fine, but Aiden, you need to know that I've always loved you the most. I never wanted to hurt you."
He wasn't listening to these words anymore. Aiden turned and walked toward me.
Then he stopped in front of me and asked, "I'm asking you, what do you think of me?"
I didn't know if it was my imagination, but I saw a trace of hurt in his eyes.
I couldn't help but curl my lips and looked at him coldly, "You've long been insignificant in my heart. Why humiliate yourself here?"
My indifferent attitude left Aiden completely frozen in place.
He looked at me with intense sadness in his eyes.
He smiled. "Anyway, things between us ended long ago."
Bianca panicked immediately and tentatively moved closer to Aiden.
But before she could take his arm, she was pushed away.
Aiden looked at her with eyes cold to the bone, "Don't touch me until we have the results."
