Chapter 64 C. Baby in trouble
CHAPTER 64
C. Baby in trouble.
ANDERSON RESIDENCE
The night carried a tension that had been building long before any words were spoken.
The house, usually calm and structured, felt unsettled. The lights in the hallway cast long shadows, and the silence that once defined the space had been replaced by something heavier, something restless.
From behind one of the closed doors upstairs, faint sounds could be heard. Low, muffled, indistinct. They blended into the quiet of the house in a way that might have gone unnoticed if not for everything else happening at the same time.
Down the hall, Vivian stood facing her husband, her posture rigid, her expression tight. Anderson, on the other hand, looked far from composed. His patience had worn thin, and it showed in the sharpness of his voice and the tension in his movements.
“I trusted you,” he said, his tone controlled but edged with frustration. “I left Ruby under your care.”
Vivian folded her arms, her gaze steady but defensive. “And I’ve done my best.”.
“Your best?” Anderson repeated, his voice rising slightly. “Under your watch, she’s now involved with a man you clearly know nothing about.”
Vivian’s expression faltered for a brief second before she recovered. “She’s an adult. She makes her own decisions.”
“That’s not the point,” Anderson replied firmly.
“You were supposed to guide her. Protect her.”
Vivian exhaled sharply, turning slightly away before facing him again. “From what? A man she clearly chose?”
Anderson stepped closer, his presence more imposing now. “Not just any man,” he said. “Do you even know who he is?”
Vivian didn’t answer immediately. And that silence said enough of course he is the man no one dared challenge or come close. She hissed under her breath.
Anderson let out a low breath, shaking his head. “One of the most dangerous billionaires in the world,” he continued. “That’s who she’s with.”
The words settled heavily between them. Vivian’s composure cracked just slightly, though she tried to mask it. “You’re exaggerating.”
“I’m not,” Anderson said firmly. “You think this is just some relationship? This is bigger than that.”
Their voices carried down the hallway, the argument growing in intensity as neither of them stepped back. The tension between them was no longer controlled; it was open, raw, and building.
Vivian tried to hold her ground. “You’re acting like she’s in danger.”
“I don’t act,” Anderson replied sharply. “I know and right now, I don’t like what I’m seeing.”
They began walking as they argued, their steps echoing against the polished floor. The conversation followed them, each word layered with frustration, blame, and underlying concern.
“And where were you? Here you are, claiming you loved her, or now you do, I raised her, raised her from a tender age while you were busying travelling round the world. Vivian countered. “You left her Anderson, and don't claim you love her, because clearly you don't, and right now I can assure you you are not a good father. She added.
“Oh wow…….wow….wow…,” Anderson snapped. “Now I see, so I'm a bad father right after I picked you from the slump” Anderson's voice was now full of anger, as he almost hit her face.
“Don't you dare touch me, I'm warning you,” Vivian said pointing fingers at him.
Before Anderson could respond, something interrupted them. They could hear muffled sound coming from the door, it was surprising because no one was at home. The noise came again and this time, Anderson moved closer eager to know where the noise was coming from. His eyes narrowed slightly as he turned toward the direction of the sound.
“That’s Clara’s room,” he said.
Vivian’s body stiffened almost instantly. “ No honey, I'm not sure, she said quickly. “She’s probably just watching something.”
But Anderson was already moving. His steps were firm, deliberate, as he approached the door. The sounds became clearer the closer he got to the door. He had a deadly smile on his face and thought whoever was in there was dead already.
Vivian followed closely behind, her tone now more urgent. “Leave it,” she insisted. “ Baby, you’re overreacting.” she said, trying to hold him.
Anderson pushed her hands away from his, he reached the door and placed his hand on the handle. “It’s locked,” he said, while his body was already on vibrating mode.
“That should tell you something,” Vivian replied quickly. “She wants privacy.”
But Anderson wasn’t convinced.
He knocked as his expression hardened.
“C!” he called out. Still no answer.
Vivian stepped forward, placing a hand on his arm. “Stop this,” she said, her voice lower now, almost pleading. “You’re making it worse.”
He looked at her. “What are you hiding?” he asked.
“I’m not hiding anything,” she replied, though her tone lacked certainty.
The silence stretched for only a second. Then Anderson pushed her hand away. Before she could stop him, he stepped back slightly and forced the door open. The sound echoed through the hallway.
Inside, the scene froze instantly. C stood near the bed, her expression shocked, her movements halted mid-action. Beside her was a young man, equally startled, both of them caught off guard by the sudden intrusion. The room fell into an immediate, heavy silence.
Anderson stood at the doorway, his presence filling the space, his expression unreadable for a moment before it shifted into something darker, disappointment, anger, and disbelief all at once.
Vivian appeared behind him, her face tense as she took in the scene she had clearly tried to prevent. No one spoke immediately. The weight of the moment was enough. Anderson’s gaze moved slowly across the room, taking in everything without needing explanation. His jaw tightened slightly, his posture rigid.
“This…” he began, his voice low but controlled, “is what’s been happening in my house?”
C didn’t respond. The shock had rendered her speechless.
Vivian stepped forward cautiously. “Let’s not do this right now,” she said, attempting to calm the situation.
But Anderson didn’t move, he didn’t look away, he pierced his eyes directly into Clara's eyes and she looked away with fear.
The tension in the room was immediate and undeniable. And in that moment, it became clear, the night wasn’t over.
…………..NOTE……….
Remember there are two Clara's in the story, Ruby's stepsister which will now be described as C, and Leo's ex as Clara.
