Chapter 8: Twins

Sam's arrogance resurfaced, fueled by the assumption that Nosy and K were no match for his team, a smirk spreading across his face like a crack in a mirror. Nosy, still engrossed in the TV, lifted his head slightly, locking eyes with Sam, her gaze piercing like a dagger. "You're just Victor's insignificant assistant, acting high and mighty," she said, her voice dripping with disdain, the words cutting deep into Sam's ego. "I've told you, I'm not Kosi. I've met her before, but I'm not her. If you find her, please tell her her sister is looking for her.

I'm also searching for her." K didn't flinch, her focus remaining on the TV, the screen's glow casting an eerie light on her features. Sam's anger flared at her demeanor, his face reddening like a burst of flame, and he ordered his men, "Take her now! If the guy interferes, kill him instantly." Victor's men moved swiftly, their footsteps echoing through the room like a death knell, but Nosy swiftly grabbed the first one's arm and broke it with a single-handed move, the sound of cracking bone and the man's scream filling the air.

The others were stunned, their eyes wide with shock, as Nosy's movements seemed almost choreographed. Sam's eyes widened as he realized the "weak girl" was, in fact, ruthless, a cold sweat breaking out on his forehead.

He barked another order, "Get them both! Punish them, but keep her alive." However, his men were met with powerful kicks, targeting vulnerable spots, the sound of flesh hitting flesh and the men's grunts filling the room. In minutes, they lay defeated, K finishing them off with swift neck breaks, the sound of cracking vertebrae echoing through the room like a deadly symphony.

Sam, the only one standing, was paralyzed with fear, his pants soiled from wetting himself, the warm sensation spreading down his leg a humiliating reminder of his cowardice. Nosy looked at him with disgust, wiping her hands with tissues without touching him, the gesture a stark contrast to the violence that had just unfolded. "Tell Victor that Nosy said he needs to send capable men if he wants to cause a scene here.

I'm not Kosi; maybe we're long-lost twins." Her voice was laced with sarcasm, the words dripping with venom, as she turned to leave, the sound of her heels clicking on the floor a reminder of her dominance.

As Nosy's words hung in the air, her heart rate quickened, and a startling realization dawned on her, the sound of her own ragged breathing the only sound in the silence.

The similarities between her and Kosi, including their shared birthday, couldn't be mere coincidence, the connection feeling like a jolt of electricity. She recalled the USB her mother had left her, with the cryptic message to open it only in times of great need, the memory of the small device feeling like a weight in her pocket. Nosy's mind whirred with possibilities, could Kosi be her mother's daughter?

Had her mother adopted Kosi out to a family that didn't love her? The thought sent a shiver down her spine, the air in the room feeling colder. Determined to uncover the truth, Nosy decided they needed to conduct a DNA test, the idea forming in her mind like a plan. Despite Kosi's usual assertiveness, their shared birthday and striking similarities spoke volumes, the resemblance between them like a mirror image.

After Sam's reaction, Nosy was convinced they needed to verify their identities, the fear and uncertainty in his eyes a testament to the danger they posed. If they were indeed blood relatives, they'd face life's challenges with a newfound perspective, knowing they had each other's backs, a sense of solidarity forming between them. As Nosy pondered, K had already called the police, the sound of sirens growing louder in the distance, a welcome relief.

The sound of sirens brought Nosy back to reality, the flashing lights of the police cars illuminating the room like a strobe light. The police arrived, and everything unfolded as expected, the officers' voices firm and professional. They took statements, and K handed over the surveillance footage, the officers' faces grave as they watched the video. However, the part where K finished off the men was conveniently obscured, the footage skipping over the most critical moment like a edited movie.

The police assumed the men died during the fight, shocked by the lethal efficiency of Nosy and K's kicks, their faces pale and drawn.

The police took statements, collected the bodies, and left, aware that taking sides in this situation could backfire, given the intimidating nature of Nosy and K, the sound of their sirens fading into the distance like a receding storm.

Once everything was clear, Nosy headed to a bedroom, where she carefully cut a strand of hair and placed it in a clear plastic slide within a pencil case, the snip of the scissors and the soft rustle of the plastic the only sounds in the silence. She emerged looking lost, her eyes scanning the room as if searching for something, the bright lights making her look pale. Just as she was about to leave, K's voice stopped her, the warmth in her tone a comforting sound. "Where are you going? Let me go with you; you look lost." Nosy nodded, and they stepped out together, the soft click of the door closing behind them a decisive sound.

Meanwhile, in Kosi's room, the lights were back on, and the space looked undisturbed, the soft hum of the computer and the glow of the screen the only signs of life. Kosi was busy hacking into the hospital's surveillance system, her fingers flying across the keyboard like a pianist's, tracking all routes to Michael's room and noting blind spots where his men were stationed.

She planned to traumatize him with a visit, wanting him to remember her voice despite the difference in their faces, a cold smile spreading across her face like a shadow. The sound of the computer beeping and the soft whir of the fans filled the room, a symphony of technology.
