Chapter 16: Stay by my side
Michael's eyes darted around frantically. He looked at John, then back at Kosi and Nosy, his face a mask of panic. "This is a lie! They're trying to trick me!"
"Are we, Michael?" Kosi said, stepping closer. "Victor knows things about you, doesn't he? Secrets you wouldn't want coming to light."
"And he knows about Joyce," Nosy added, her gaze sharp. "Secrets that would unravel everything you've built."
Michael's breath hitched. The mention of Joyce seemed to hit a nerve. He knew Victor was aware of the complexities of his relationship with Joyce and the circumstances surrounding Kosi's past.
"What does he want?" Michael whispered, his voice betraying his fear.
"Maybe he wants to confess his own sins," Kosi said, a cruel smile playing on her lips. "Maybe he wants to finally tell the truth about everything."
"Or maybe he just wants to make sure he doesn't go down with the ship," Nosy added, her eyes never leaving Michael's face.
"Either way, Michael, it looks like you're running out of allies."
John watched the exchange intently, the information about Victor adding another layer to the already complicated web of relationships. He remained silent, allowing Kosi and Nosy to control the narrative.
Michael was clearly reeling, the news about Victor's potential betrayal shaking him to his core. His earlier arrogance had completely vanished, replaced by a raw, palpable fear. He glanced towards the exit again, his mind clearly racing.
Suddenly, Michael's eyes landed on a stack of old metal pipes leaning against a wall. A desperate look flashed across his face. With a burst of unexpected energy, he lunged towards the pipes, grabbing one as a makeshift weapon.
"Stay back!" he yelled, swinging the pipe wildly in front of him, his voice hoarse with panic. He held it defensively, his eyes darting between his three adversaries. The bravado was gone, replaced by the desperate actions of a cornered animal.
The silence that had blanketed the dilapidated warehouse shattered as Michael, propelled by a surge of adrenaline and desperation, lunged towards the stack of rusted metal pipes. The metallic clang as he wrestled a heavy length free echoed through the cavernous space, a stark counterpoint to the hushed tension that had held them captive moments before. He swung the pipe with a wild, clumsy arc, his eyes wide with a primal fear that finally eclipsed his earlier arrogance.
But Kosi and Nosy were quicker, their movements honed by years of instinct and a shared, almost telepathic understanding. They moved in perfect unison, a blur of motion that seemed to defy the heavy stillness of the air. The pipe whistled past where Kosi's head had been a fraction of a second before, the draft ruffling strands of her hair. Nosy, with a swift, almost casual sidestep, avoided the clumsy swing entirely.
Their counter-attack was brutal and efficient. Before Michael could recover his footing or bring the heavy pipe to bear again, Kosi and Nosy were upon him. Kosi's first kick, a lightning-fast strike with the precision of a honed weapon, landed squarely in Michael's left knee. A sickening crack echoed through the warehouse, followed by a guttural roar of pain that ripped from Michael's throat. His leg buckled beneath him, sending a jolt of agony through his entire frame.
Before he could even register the initial blow, Nosy delivered the decisive strike. Her foot, a blur of motion in the dim light, connected with brutal force against his right knee. Another sharp crack resonated through the space, more definitive, more final than the first. Michael's makeshift weapon clattered to the concrete floor, the sound dull and anticlimactic against the backdrop of his tormented cries. He collapsed in a heap, both legs twisted at unnatural angles beneath him, his body writhing in agony, his face a mask of pure, unadulterated pain. He was effectively crippled, his desperate attempt to regain control ending in a swift and devastating failure.
Kosi stood over him, her breathing steady, her gaze unwavering. She reached into the inner pocket of her jacket and retrieved a small, sleek device. The recording. The tangible proof of his depravity. With a flick of her fingers, she activated it, the small speaker emitting a tinny yet chillingly clear sound that cut through Michael's whimpers.
His own voice, smooth with arrogant satisfaction, filled the air. "...and Victor, you should have seen her face. So pure, so untouched. Taking her virginity... it was exquisite. Like plucking a perfect flower. She fought, of course, but that only made it more... enjoyable." A sickening chuckle followed, a sound that made the blood run cold. "And yes, of course, I want her again. The collaboration was... mutually beneficial, wouldn't you say? You just need to deliver her again, Victor. I have... plans for her."
Michael's eyes widened to the size of saucers, a look of utter, paralyzing shock contorting his features. His earlier pain seemed momentarily forgotten, replaced by the horrifying realization of what Kosi possessed. This wasn't just hearsay or accusations; this was his own voice, his own words, laid bare for anyone to hear. The color drained from his face, leaving it ashen and clammy. He knew the implications were devastating. This recording, if released, would not only destroy his reputation but land him in prison for a very long time. The carefully constructed facade of his respectable businessman persona crumbled around him like dust.
He looked up at Kosi, his eyes pleading, a desperate hope flickering within them. Surely, she wouldn't want the world to know about her violation. Surely, shame would keep her silent.
But Kosi's expression was resolute, her eyes devoid of any fear or embarrassment. As Michael lay broken and whimpering at their feet, the twins spoke again, their voices low and steady, their gazes unwavering, looking down at him as if he were nothing more than a discarded insect.
"I am no longer scared of people knowing it, Michael," Kosi stated, her voice ringing with newfound strength and defiance. "It was not my fault from the start, so it will never be my fault."
Nosy nodded in agreement, her gaze equally determined. "You are at fault here, Michael. You were supposed to be a man of integrity, a leader. If Victor's proposal was truly a good business opportunity, you didn't need to resort to such a cruel and inhumane act to be 'repaid.'"
Kosi stepped closer, her voice hardening. "You are not dying today, Michael. That would be too easy. You are going to live with this, crippled in body and spirit. You will be the last person to die, the one who lingers with the full weight of your sins."
