Chapter 206
“Turned around”
His slowly whispered lingered I'm the air, and I kept thumping loudly inside my rib cage. My breathing had become slow. It was completely dark inside the room, and there was no moon outside in the sky. It was completely pitch black and dark. My body had gone numb as soon as he handed out his arm around my waist.
"Please," he whispered in his soft, rugged voice when I didn't turn to look at him. My heart felt a tug when he pleaded with me. My body slowly moved on its own, and I slowly turned to face him. I couldn't see his face in the dark, but I could see the outline of it. He was not coming to his face. I knew that.
“What are you doing here?” I whispered while looking at the outline of his face.
“I don't know," he whispered, making me look at him with a complex look in my eyes. There was silence between us for a few seconds. I could feel his eyes moving all over my place. I don't know if he could see my face in the dark.
“Why?” I asked him again, wanting to know why he comes to my room every night when I fall asleep.
“Because I'm lost,” he said softly.
“Without you,” he completed his sentence, and my heart fluttered when he said that. I could feel the yearning in his voice. I know we have some kind of relationship between us, but I don't know why I can't remember him. I remember Hestia's morning conversation with Hector. From her words, I could say that he was something very important in my life and he had done something bad to me, but then why didn't I remember anything? I don't even remember his face. Every night, I chase him in my dreams, but I am never successful in seeing his face.
“You know me,” I asked the question even though I knew he did. I wanted him to confirm it from his mouth.
“More than yourself," he whispered, and my doubts turned into reality. My brows furrowed when he said that.
“Then why don't I remember you?” I asked softly, whispering back to him as if someone were out there listening to our conversation. I felt him taking sharp breaths when I asked him that question.
“Because I'm a terrible man who tried to rob you and put off something very scary. I made a grave mistake, and now I'm facing my punishment,” he told me why I didn't remember him. His words felt like a mystery to my ears. What did he do to me? I wanted to ask him what terrible thing he did to me, but my heart feared asking him that question. I don't know why, but I didn't want to know it ever.
“Will I remember you once your punishment is over?” I asked softly, and his hold became firmer around my waist.
“My punishment is from my life, my sweet?” he said, and those words felt so heavy on my ear.
“Then what do you want from me?” I asked, not knowing his intentions of coming into my room every night. I know he follows me everywhere I go. He even followed me when we were in the forest. I remember how they guided me and commanded me to come out of the illusion Illu had created. If it were not for him, I would have been dead long ago.
“I want all of you,” he said in his yearning voice, and it made my heart skip a beat.
“All of me," I whispered in disbelief, repeating what he said. He pulled me more to his chest.
“Yes, all of you," he whispered back, confirming again, making my breath hitch.
“Why do you come to my room when I fall asleep?” I asked the question, which bothered me so much.
“If I don't see your face, I will go mad. You are the air I breathe,” he told me, and my eyes widened. I had no question left to ask him anymore, or, to put on better words, my mind had gone blank when he said that. He wanted me all for him. My stupid heart was thumping so loudly when he said that. Who is he to me? Hector said he and I are connected with a thread of fate. What does it mean? Are we married? He is my husband. If he was, then he would have been on my side when I opened my eyes, but the only people I saw when I opened my eyes were Helio, Hestia, and the priestess. Hestia was blaming him for this state. I remember she accusingly said that only because of him was she about to lose me. What a grave mistake he had made. Why can't I remember? All those questions were heaving my head. We both were adjusting to a small bed. He kept pressing me to his warm chest.
“Sleep, you are tired," he whispered as if he knew how all the questions were bothering me. I decided to do what he said. I need to rest. I took a deep breath in his intoxicating scent, and it relaxed my nerves. I don't know when I fell asleep in his arms. For the first time, I didn't have a nightmare. I slept soundlessly, forgetting about all my worries and keeping my bothersome thoughts at bay. The next morning, I woke up. I was alone in bed. His warmth was still lingered beside me. I moved my hand to the side he was sleeping. He was not my imagination. He was here, and it's proof. I wonder where he goes every day. I got out of bed and then took a bath. It was still early in the morning, so no one had woken up. I decided to make breakfast for everyone. I gathered all the ingredients in the kitchen and started to prepare breakfast.
“My lady, what are you doing so early in the kitchen?” Hector asked from the door. He walked inside when he saw me kneading dough for the bread.
“I woke up early today, so I decided to make supper for everyone," I said with a small smile on my lips, and I put more oil on the dough to make it rise when I kept it for rest.
“You don't have to do it. I'm here to do all those things. My Lord will be very angry if he comes to know you have been working on the kitchen in my presence,” he said while taking the vegetable that I was cutting.
“If your Lord gets angry, ask him to come and talk to me," I said while taking back the knife and vegetables from him. He frowned when I said that. It made me laugh.
“Let me help you then," he said once again, trying to get the knife and vegetables from my hands, but I didn't let him.
“If you want to help me, then fire up the heart. I need to put bread inside it,” I said while peeling the vegetables. There was some dried-up meat that we brought yesterday from the market on our way back home. He had used some of it for making dinner, so I will use the rest of it today for morning supper. Hector started to do what I asked immediately. He lit up the hearth and started to prepare before putting the dough of bread inside it. We were done preparing food when Hestia and Helio walked out of their room.
“It smells delicious,” Helio said while taking a deep breath in the aroma of the soup. I had just removed the pot from the fire. Hector had removed the bread from the heart. Hot vapours were coming out of it when he was cutting it.
“It's cooked perfectly," I said, looking at the texture. He had removed it at the right time. He smiled, looking at me, and then placed the fresh bread on the basket.
“Let me help you." Helio took the cloth from my hand when I was about to carry the hot pot of soup to the table. Hestia, without saying, started to place the bowl and plates in front of the chair. I poured generous portions into each bowl before giving them.
“Soup was so tasty,” Hestia said as soon as she took her first bite.
“I don't know when I will learn to cook like this," Hestia said while taking one more bite. I don't understand her obsession with learning cooking.
“Maybe one day you will, but please, until then, don't do experiments. We need to be in the best health to fight with King," Helio chuckled while eating his breakfast. It made Hestia look at him with narrowed eyes. After we were done eating the food, we left the house. Today, too, we searched for the secret portal all day. We even noticed there were too many demon guards around the city.
“Security seems so tight today," Hector said while looking at all the demon guards marching towards the castle.
“Yeah, it seemed like something was going on," I told Whol, looking at the troop of firebreathing demons. They have heavy weaponry in their hands. There were even big tools, which were covered with cloth.
“Where are they taking such big tools?” I asked Hector while my eyes remained fixed on the big tool.
“They were unsuccessful in getting selenium from the sacred mountains. Now I think they are finding some other way to get it,” Hector said with furrowed brows. Yeah, I remember going to the Sacred Mountains, but I don't remember the details of that day. There is a very faint memory in my head.
“We need to find out his plan," I said, wanting to know what was going on in his evil head.
“Should we go behind them?” I asked Hector with raised brows. He looked down at me and moved his head in no.
“We are only going to observe them for a few days. We need to know our enemy before attacking them, and if you get caught spying on them, things will only get difficult for us,” he said with a serious look on his face.
“But observing them also means knowing what they are doing right. We have to know what they are up to do so we can be prepared,” I told Hector to reason my words. He moved his head in no with that serious look still on his face.
“My Lord already has his eyes on them. The moment they decided to bring the havok into seven kingdoms. Moon Palace will be the first one to take action against them,” he said with that serious look still on his face. My eyes widened in surprise when he said that.
“Moon palace,” I repeated that word. It sounded familiar to my ears, but I don't remember where I heard it.
“How powerful is Moon Place?" I asked, getting curious about it. I don't know why I was suddenly so curious to know about it.
“Powerful enough to destroy the king with the blink of an eye," he said with a proud look on his face, and my eyes widened even more.
“Then why is Moon Palace not taking any action against the king?” I asked with furrowed brows.
“The king has been doing so many cruel things to the poor people. He is exploiting the children and women and destroying the peace of these kingdoms. Why is Moon Palace still not doing anything?” I asked, wanting to know the answer about it.
“To maintain the peace in the seven kingdoms, a treaty was signed that no kingdom can interfere in other kingdoms business. Action will be only taken when the laws of the treaty are breached. Long is doing all the cruel things, but he is not breaching the laws of the treaty. He is being sneaky and smart at the same time. It has tied up the hands of Moon Palace,” he explained to me calmly, and my brows furrowed even more. It still seems like an injustice to me.
“Who is the king of Moon Palace?” I asked, what to know. He chuckled when I asked him that.
“My Lord is the king of the moon palace," he said with a smile on his face, and my eyes furrowed even more.
“That's why he is here. To keep a close eye on the activity of the king after what they did to the sacred mountains." I said. A faint member of Hestia telling me sacred mountains belong to the Moon Palace came into my head. Yeah, maybe that was the first time when I had heard about Moon Palace. But what Hector said shocked me.
“No, he is here because his queen is here.”
