Chapter 241

Katya bit down hard on her lower lip, opening and closing her mouth before finally shaking her head, tears streaming down her face.

"If Aaron finds out about this, he might completely lose it. He's been in so much pain these past few years, suffering from insomnia night after night, and taking loads of medication daily. If he learns that Arian's death wasn't your fault but his, I think he'll break down."

Amelia sighed deeply in silence.

"Who would've thought that someone like Aaron, who seems so carefree, is actually so fragile inside? The human mind truly is a complex subject."

Despite her extensive studies in psychology, Amelia still couldn't fully grasp Aaron's thoughts and feelings.

Meanwhile, a tall man approached the spot where Aaron lay unconscious, his face covered in blood. After a moment's hesitation, he picked Aaron up in a princess carry and took him down the mountain.

At the foot of the mountain, he unceremoniously dropped Aaron onto the ground, showing no concern for his well-being.

William's wheelchair was positioned right in front of Aaron. He looked at Aaron's bleeding head and couldn't help but twitch his mouth. "Did Amelia do this?"

His assistant shook his head, indicating he knew nothing. "They were familiar with the terrain and moved too quickly. One moment they were there, and the next they were gone. I found him unconscious on the ground and brought him here."

William was speechless.

Regardless, he had a feeling Amelia could've done something like this.

He instructed his assistant to check Aaron's breathing. "He's still alive."

William nodded. "Take him to the hospital."

When Amelia and the others came down the mountain, they saw William sitting there in his casual clothes, looking indifferent. His hand supported his chin, and there was a pool of blood on the ground in front of him.

William's gaze swept over Amelia as she stood before him. Once he confirmed she was just dirty and not injured, he relaxed.

"Aaron passed out. I had him taken to the hospital."

"What?"

Katya practically shouted, her voice filled with panic. She wanted to grab William by the collar and demand answers about Aaron's condition.

Rationality prevailed, stopping her from doing something foolish. But her voice remained loud and anxious. "Is Aaron okay? Is he in any danger?"

William, annoyed by how close she was, rolled his wheelchair back a bit. He shook his head. "I just got the news. He's okay, just a serious head injury. The hospital said he has a concussion and is likely sleeping now."

Katya let out a long sigh of relief, but was still uneasy. She wanted to go to the hospital to see Aaron, but it was late, and they were in a remote village where getting a cab was nearly impossible.

Katya begged Amelia to borrow a car, promising she was a good driver and wouldn't scratch it. She even said she'd cover any damages if she did.

Amelia couldn't believe the nerve of someone so young, probably without a driver's license, asking to borrow a car to visit Aaron.

She turned to William. "You said Aaron's okay, right?"

William nodded.

Amelia shrugged at Katya. "You heard him. Aaron's fine. Why are you freaking out? You can see him in the morning."

But Katya, tears streaming down her face, was determined to go to the hospital right away.

William, with a knowing look, fiddled with his phone before looking up. "Alright. I've arranged for someone to drive you to the hospital."

Katya, stunned, couldn't stop her tears. She thanked him over and over before rushing off to see her brother.

Amelia watched, baffled by Katya's emotions and actions.

"Even when they know everything's fine, people still feel the need to see for themselves. Human emotions are just too complicated."

That night ended with a sense of finality.

The next day, Amelia recounted the events to Evelyn and the village chief.

"This isn't right! Even if they need to move the grave, they should pick an appropriate day and prepare a proper ceremony to avoid offending the spirits. But Aaron just went up the mountain in the middle of the night and started digging up Arian's grave. He's lost it."

The village chief tapped his cane. "If I were Arian, I'd be mad enough to come back to life. Aaron's gone crazy."

Evelyn sighed. "Those two used to come over for meals all the time. We had such lively gatherings. Now look at them. Aaron's not the same person anymore, and he doesn't smile as much. Amy, you didn't agree to this, did you?"

Amelia nodded. "He's Aaron's brother. If he wants to move the grave, let him. This isn't our concern. Besides, Aaron wants to settle elsewhere. It's natural for him to want Arian with him."

"But you..."

Evelyn hesitated. Normally, Amelia wouldn't agree to something like this, but surprisingly, she was the first to consent.

People at other tables, who lived further away and didn't know what had happened, listened in confusion.

Lilly explained, "Last night, I saw Aaron with a shovel heading up the mountain. It seemed odd, so I told Amy. We found out he was digging up his brother's grave to take the ashes. Amy caught him, they fought, and Aaron lost. On his way down, he tripped and fell."
