Chapter 30: New meat
ELIZA'S POV
Nora and I stepped into the midnight club with large grins on our faces.
I was dressed in a slutty looking short gown that stopped below my derriere. My long shapely legs were on full display, and my brown luscious hair dropped down and fell recklessly over my shoulder.
As soon as Nora had set her eyes on me, right outside the club, her jaw had dropped open and she had whispered.
“You really came out dressed to kill.”
I had nodded at her awestruck look, satisfaction coursing through my system at the reaction that my outfit had elicited.
“First round is on me!” Nora screamed above the loud music that thumped through the room.
“Great, because I haven't stolen the money that'll make us millionaires yet.”
The bartender, a man who appeared to be in his early thirties passed us two shots of tequila. Nora and I grabbed it eagerly and downed them in one go.
Nora made a face as she swallowed. “God, we've been doing this for five years, yet the damn thing still burns my chest as if I've swallowed a ball of fire.”
I chuckled, while beckoning the bartender for a second. Nora and I downed our second glass, this time, Nora didn't make a face when she swallowed.
As soon as she slammed the glass on the countertop, Nora turned to me fully, her green eyes boring into mine with curiosity.
“I think it's time for you to tell me why you want to bang the man you'd planned to ruin.”
“I do not want to bang him, Nora. That's the entire reason we're here.”
Nora furrowed her eyebrows. “But that was not what you told me in the morning.” She studied me closely, as if she could read the things I was unwilling to say on my face.
When it was apparent that it wasn't possible, she sighed. “Has Vinton made any advances on you?”
I shook my head slowly as I thought about the confusing interactions I'd had with Vinton.
I hated him, and I was more than certain that I wasn't his favorite person in the world either.
However, what I didn't understand was why I had begun to notice how mesmerizing his velvet dark eyes were. And why that dark mop of curly hair that usually fell over his forehead constantly caught my attention.
I didn't understand how Vinton's hands could burn through my clothes and sear my skin...
Why was it getting easier to forget that Vinton Crost was my mother's killer?
Nora's hands on my arm brought me back to the present, her eyes were filled with worry and concern.
“You got lost there for a second. I think we should order more drinks.” She concluded, turning towards the bartender and shouting for a third round.
Nora rarely shouted. The drink was obviously beginning to get to her head.
The drink arrived and I grabbed it, eager to drink the night away, and obliterate my mind of thoughts of my boss. The same man that I was supposed to hate.
Vinton was a pompous prick. He only cared about himself and the women who had taken his last name. No one else mattered.
Yet, he had sent his driver this morning to tail me. Was it really to mock me, or to make sure I was safe?
He had broken my fall this morning, even if he didn't have to. He had wrapped those strong muscular arms around me, and I'd immediately craved for more.
“Is this going to be a quiet night where we both drink until we both cannot see our hands from our faces? And we end up kissing the sidewalk because we can't make it back home like sane adults?”
Nora's accurate description of the nights we'd had brought a short laugh out of me.
“Don't remind me of the good old days.”
“With how fast we're moving through our drinks, I don't doubt that we will repeat history.”
“Vinton Crost confuses me.” I blurted.
“We're ready to talk, great.” Nora dragged her long stool towards mine so that her chair was almost straddling mine.
“Vinton Crost is the most inconsiderate fucker I've ever come across.”
“He's a billionaire, Liza. That's how the elites act around commoners like us.”
“I hate it. And I hate him. But I notice that, Nora, and I hate the fact that I do.
Nora grinned at me. “Vinton has that effect on nearly every woman. I would have questioned your sexuality if you didn't find him attractive.”
I frowned at her. “What do you even mean?”
“Vinton is handsome, Liza. You'd be blind not to notice that.”
“Well, that ruthless bastard killed my mom. Yet, every single time he's close, my heart picks up speed like I've run a marathon. I hate the effect he has on me. And the only conclusion I have reached regarding my feelings for him is that I need to be fucked.”
Nora's eyes widened as she absorbed my words. Her look of complete shock annoyed me even more.
“What?” I barked.
“Are you listening to yourself, Liza?”
“What do you mean?” My annoyance was slowly veering towards anger.
“You're basically explaining the hopeless attraction you have towards Vinton Crost.”
Nora's words hit me squarely in the chest. Was that really what this was? Was I attracted to Vinton Crost?
“It's not possible that I am attracted to my mother's killer, Nora. I want him crippled and wishing for death. I want him to become a pauper. I want him to live at the mercy of others. I want to crush him, completely.”
“Don't you also wish to know what his lips taste like? What it'll feel like if he takes you in his arms and plants his lips on yours?”
Nora's question hit me like a bucket of ice.
“Fuck! I really need to get fucked.” I looked wildly around and then towards the dance floor.
Several men were dancing with women. There were also women who danced by themselves. The dance floor was packed. Most of them looked drunk off their minds.
Some of them were well-dressed, and a few of them appeared young. Maybe college students?
I stood up and dragged Nora along.
“Where are we going?” Nora screamed to be heard above the music.
“It's time to find interesting meat.”
