Chapter 45

"Wow!" Robert's eyes lit up. "Could you be the very attractive Sofia that William mentioned?"

Robert's use of the name "Sofia" drew a cold glance from Michael.

"Yes," Sofia raised her eyebrows, responding simply before continuing to nibble on her steak.

"Tsk tsk, you're really something, Sofia. No wonder Michael would give up even his finance for you..." Robert glanced meaningfully at Sofia.

"Robert!" Michael interrupted Robert's words sharply.

His voice was like a knife cutting through the air, cold and sharp, as if he wanted to shoot an arrow through Robert's mouth.

Sofia felt a sharp pain in her heart, but she picked up her fork and took another bite of her steak. She washed it down with a sip of red wine, and chewing and swallowing seemed to calm her down.

Then she picked up her wine glass and took another sip.

The cool liquid flowed down her throat and into her body... Ah, that was refreshing.

Finally, she smiled contentedly, "Hehe, you see, Michael didn't give up Ruby for me..."

Robert raised an eyebrow and smiled slyly, "Oh, did Michael use you to drive Ruby away? Tsk tsk, heartless. Michael, how could you bear to push such a lovely young lady like Sofia out to be someone else's target?"

After speaking, Robert glanced meaningfully at Michael.

Sofia did not catch the hidden meaning in Robert's words. She continued to eat her steak and gulp down her wine, nodding and agreeing with Robert's words, but her speech was slurred, "Yeah, no humanity..."

Sofia continued to drink several large sips of wine, and her face grew redder and redder. Robert stared at Sofia's flushed face and laughed heartily.

Her curly eyelashes began to flicker out of focus, and her bright black pupils emitted a misty light... they were as clear as a bottomless pool.

Somehow, he found himself staring at her for a few seconds, momentarily lost in thought.

In a trance, Sofia had already drunk most of a bottle of wine.

Robert speculated that she was already somewhat drunk, so he put his long arms around her and pulled her into his embrace, laughing softly, "Sofia, Michael is so heartless, it's better not to follow him. Resign and come work with me, how about that?"

Sofia looked up at Robert and suddenly realized that looking at this man up close, his skin was even smoother than hers.

Unlike William's monster-like appearance, Robert was a typical gentle gentleman.

With a bit of alcohol in her system, her hand couldn't help but reach out and stroke Robert's smooth jawline, giggling stupidly, "You're so cute, hehe..."

Robert narrowed his eyes slightly, deliberately ignoring the intense gaze from a certain dark corner, and grabbed Sofia's hand, "Sofia is even cuter..."

This ambiguous statement was extremely grating to a certain male's ears.

"Hehehe..." Sofia giggled and grabbed the wine bottle, taking a few more sips.

Then she looked at Robert very seriously, and a hint of confusion flickered in her blurred eyes, "Why are all the men around Michael so handsome? William is like that, Anthony is like that, and now... you're like that... um..." She burped.

Robert chuckled and took the opportunity to pull her into his embrace with a mischievous smile, "So who does Sofia like the most?"

Sofia looked sneakily at Michael behind the bar.

Her eyes met his cold, sinister gaze.

She shuddered in fear.

She quickly shrunk into Robert's embrace and pouted, "Except for that bastard Michael, I like everyone else..."

"Hahaha... why?" Robert laughed loudly, glancing occasionally at Michael. He only realized that Michael had already darkened his face.

However, the woman in his arms seemed to be really drunk. Her words became more and more ignorant, "You don't know, he's stingy, grudgeful, gloomy, and cold, and especially lecherous..."

"Sofia!" A certain man couldn't hold back anymore.

With a cold face, he limped a few steps towards Robert and reached out to pull Sofia out of his arms.

"Ah... get away from me..." Sofia reflexively struggled.

Michael held her tightly in his arms and glanced at the almost empty wine bottle. He gave Robert a cold stare, "Wow, you actually opened such a strong wine for her!"

"Black pepper steak should be paired with this kind of wine to be flavorful..." Robert shrugged innocently, seeming to be more and more happy as he looked at Michael's sour face.

"...Um, I still want to drink, drink, drink..." Sofia giggled foolishly, the fragrant red wine gradually soaking into every cell of her body.

It feels so comfortable... light and floating...

Michael's icy eyes swept coldly over Robert, pursing his lips without saying a word.

Hugging the increasingly blurred Sofia tightly, he turned and walked towards the door.

Robert's voice came from behind, "Michael, what kind of magic does this woman have that makes you prefer to hold her instead of even glancing at your sister-in-law?"

Michael suddenly stopped in his tracks, his face darkening, and he narrowed his dangerous eyes slightly, "Robert, you seem to be very dissatisfied with me lately."

Robert smirked, "Is that so? Since the car accident, you've left her alone and embraced another woman. Michael, when did you start to change?"

"Hehe... her? Who is her?" Sofia slipped out of Michael's arms, looking at Robert with drunken eyes and foolishly laughing.

Robert looked at Michael with a sneer on his face, and was about to speak, but was interrupted by a fierce look from Michael.

"Robert, mind your words. I never said I would marry her. Besides, my affairs are not your concern!" Michael left with Sofia in his arms.

Behind him, Robert's unwilling voice could be heard, "Michael, whether you admit it or not, she is the only woman who can be your wife in my heart..."
