Chapter 43
This kid had managed to wear a set of brand-name pajamas into a wrinkled ball, with an uncombed bird's nest on his head, and he ran over in slippers with a "patter" sound, one of his slippers even flying off on the way.
How could this be the same son he remembered, who was meticulous in every detail like him?
Since the last time he had a big fight with this kid for Bella, and the kid ran away, Matthew had told him that he had been brought back that same night.
He knew that children were just children, and he was just throwing a tantrum.
Who knew that when he saw him again, his face grew even darker.
"Andrew!" He enunciated each word slowly.
"Hehe..." Daniel laughed foolishly, unaware of Michael's thoughts. With a pair of clear eyes, she looked up at the tall and sturdy stranger in front of her, blinking innocently.
Daniel had seen him in a photo and the servant had told her that he was Andrew's father.
"Daddy..." Daniel called out, climbing up his plastered leg like a little monkey.
Her dirty little feet stepped rudely on his clean pants, leaving cute little black footprints.
The cleanliness-obsessed man's face turned dark.
"Andrew, what the hell are you doing!" He glared at his son who had clung to him like a little stray dog. In his memory, the boy had never done anything like this before.
"Hehe... Daddy..." Daniel displayed her sticky prowess that she was proud of and quickly climbed onto Michael's lap, then suddenly burst into tears without warning.
Michael was momentarily stunned.
His anger was instantly extinguished by the little guy's inexplicable crying.
The crying immediately drew the attention of many servants, but after the lesson from last time, no one dared to approach the father and son again.
With each cry, Daniel's tears flowed like a river that could not be contained.
Michael stared at his crying son in his arms.
On his usually calm and handsome face, a sense of helplessness and panic gradually emerged...
For five years, his son had been calm and obedient, almost like him in every way. But at this moment, the little guy had thrown himself into his arms and was crying uncontrollably, as if the world was ending.
What was worse, the child kept wiping his tears and snotty nose on his face, and rubbing his clean clothes against him. He gritted his teeth and asked, "Andrew, are you done crying yet?"
To his surprise, his threat only made the little one cry even harder, "Waaah... Daddy... you're so mean... waaah..."
Michael's temples throbbed as he stared at the little boy in his arms, and for some reason, the image of Sofia's messy hair flashed through his mind. It was as if she also had eyes as clear as his son's.
His heart softened unconsciously.
In the end, he let out a sigh, stretched out his stiff arms, and gently hugged the little body in his embrace. He forced a smile and said, "Okay, I won't be mean to you anymore."
Daniel sniffled and looked up at him with teary, innocent eyes and puffed cheeks. He had finally seen his dad after waiting for so long, and he missed his mom so much.
He had waited and waited, and couldn't wait any longer, but today he had finally been able to see his dad.
He had gotten so excited that he couldn't help but burst into tears.
It was so embarrassing.
He raised his tiny hand and cupped Michael's cheek, looking at him carefully and seriously. As if he wanted to engrave his father's image in his mind forever, he asked eagerly, "Daddy, you're my daddy, right? You're Andrew's daddy, right?"
Michael looked at his son, confused by his random words, but couldn't help but soften at his innocent expression. He nodded and asked softly, "Why are you crying, hmm?"
His tone was unconsciously gentle.
Perhaps he didn't even notice it himself, but he asked the same question to Sofia, who was weeping with pear blossoms, last night.
Daniel stared for a moment, "Daddy, why did you come back so late? I've been waiting for you for a long time..." He looked into Michael's eyes and almost started crying again.
His little mind thought that his own dad should be similar to Andrew's dad, right?
Thinking of this, Daniel suddenly grinned, a brilliant smile on his face. He held onto Michael's hand and in his childish voice, he cooed, "Hi, Daddy, I really miss you..."
What Daniel actually wanted to say was that he missed his real dad, who was in heaven.
Michael was momentarily stunned.
The always quiet and gentle Andrew, who was always as calm as him, actually said that he missed his dad.
Michael was taken aback. This was the first time in five years that he had heard his son say such cheesy words.
Strangely enough, he didn't feel nauseous at the gentle childish words. Instead, he felt a warm and indescribable feeling.
It was like a warm stream suddenly flowing into Michael's empty heart. He was so choked up that he couldn't even say a word.
He lowered his head and looked at his son, who had a pair of innocent eyes and a chicken's nest hairstyle.
The face of Sofia, who smiled carelessly, suddenly appeared in his mind.
Suddenly, his fingertips trembled.
He might be crazy.
He actually felt that Sofia, that woman, was like his son...
