Chapter 37
Mel had just woken up from a short nap and was scrolling through her laptop when she received an anonymous email that caught her attention. The email contained pictures and evidence of illegal activities that the L Logo company had been involved in. Although it wasn't a major crime, it was still illegal, and they could be punished for it. Most likely, a fine would be issued and paid by the company.
As she read through the email for the second time, she struggled to comprehend its contents. The message had been sent by an unknown individual who identified himself as an undercover agent, stating that he or she was driven by a sense of justice after getting in contact with some bereaved past employees of the company. In the email, he revealed that he had worked for the company for many years and had stumbled upon some illegal activities. However, he had refrained from reporting them due to his lack of influence within the organization.
Mel couldn't help but wonder how the anonymous emailer had found out about her investigation. She had been careful to keep it a secret, only confiding in Ethan and Liam. Could it be that the L-Logo company somehow found out about her investigation? It was possible, but she couldn't be certain.
As she thought about it, Mel remembered a conversation she had with Ethan earlier that day. He had asked her to contact him if she found anything related to the L-Logo company. Mel had not thought much of it at the time, but now her suspicions were triggered, and she wanted to understand what was going on.
Meanwhile, Ethan was sitting in his study room, pondering the situation. It had been two days since he had asked Jace to let the burglar go, but he hadn't heard anything from the L Logo company. Should he ask Mel if she had found out anything? As he picked up his phone, ready to dial her number, he saw her name on the screen. His phone was ringing, and the call was from Mel.
“Hey Mel, I was just about to put a call through to you. How are things going?” Ethan asked a little more directly.
“Pretty strange here. I just received an anonymous email,” Mel stuttered.
“An anonymous email?” Ethan repeated. “What does it say?”
“It's from someone claiming to be an undercover agent." "He was saying that he has proof of illegal activities that the L Logo company has been involved in,” Mel explained.
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line before Ethan spoke again. “Mel, you need to be careful. This could be a trap.”
“I know, I know,” Mel replied, frustration and fear creeping into her voice. “But what if it's true? What if they really are doing something illegal?”
“I don't doubt that they are, but you can't just trust a random emailer." "You need to be certain before you make any moves,” Ethan said.
Mel sighed. She knew that Ethan was right, but she couldn't help feeling like she was missing a vital piece of the puzzle. Who was this anonymous emailer? And how had he found out about her investigation?
As she hung up the phone, Mel decided she would need to do more digging and investigating to get to the bottom of this. She couldn't let the L-Logo company get away with whatever it was they were doing.

Meanwhile, somewhere on another side of the city, Lisa went to the shopping mall to buy some new clothes, as it had been a while since she went shopping.
As she was browsing through a rack of dresses, she heard someone call out her name. Turning around, she saw Leah, a familiar face from her university days.
“Lisa, is that really you? I can't believe we bumped into each other like this!” Leah exclaimed, giving her a warm hug.
“It's great to see you, Leah!” Lisa replied, smiling. “What are you up to these days?”
“I actually work at LIM now,” Leah said proudly. “You know, Ethan's company?”
Lisa's heart skipped a beat at the mention of Ethan's name. Her heart was beating at a slightly faster rate, and the thought of him being Leah's boss made her nervous.
“Wow, that's wonderful,” Lisa said, trying to sound nonchalant. “How's he holding up with life as a CEO? I heard he recently became president.”
“He's doing great,” Leah said with a smile. “He's been busy with work, but he's doing what he loves.”
Lisa nodded, feeling a mix of excitement and anxiety. As they chatted, Leah asked for Lisa's number, and the two made plans to catch up soon.
“I'm so glad we ran into each other,” Leah said as they parted ways. “I'll text you later, and we can plan something fun.”
Lisa smiled and waved, feeling both happy and nervous about the prospect of meeting Leah after a long while. She and Leah used to be close friends in their university days, mainly because they had similar characters. The thought of the similar behavior they shared made Lisa sigh anxiously. What if Leah also had an interest in Ethan, just like she did?
