Chapter 36 “Forgive Me”

Chapter 36 “Forgive Me”
“I will hold you both responsible if anything is to happen to my mother!!” Fernando said in anger.

“You will hold us responsible!!” Mr Castro gritted his teeth in anger.

“My daughter got into an accident 6 months ago and ended up in coma but you did not think for once to call us and inform us!!” Mrs Castro spoke with so much anger.

“Inform you, like you ever cared about your daughter!!” Fernando fired back.

“How can you say that a parent doesn’t care about their child!!” Mr Castro said.

“You both don’t, you both don’t love her or care about her existence. Was it not the same you who did not ask or speak to her for years, now all of a sudden you both care!!” Fernando fired back.

Me and Mrs Castro became silent, they felt ashamed.

The couple had raised their daughter, spoiling her to rooting only to discover she is not their real child. All their love had disappeared and they were filled with resentment.

Seeing how much her parents resented her after finding out the truth. She decided to leave home and ran to Fernando. She had refused to leave the country with her parents.

Her parents' goal was to hide the fact that she was not their real child but she ran off while they boarded the plane and left the country.

Fernando had bought a house for her to stay in and spoiled her rooting, something her parents stopped doing.

Now they were back asking for their daughter and had gone to his family estate to ask for her since they knew she was dating Fernando.

“I will ask you both one more time, who told you she had an accident and was in a coma? Fernando asked.

He had made sure to keep the secret so he wondered who had dared to leak the information to her family.

Mr and Mrs Castro both looked at each other “We have received an anonymous email informing us that our daughter had an accident and has been in coma” Mr Castro said.

“She might have turned out not to be our blood, but we had raised her, she is legally our child. We still live here and are very sorry, we want our child’s love back. Please tell us where she is” Mrs Castro pleaded with tears in her eyes.

“You going to my mother and speaking about Silvia is the reason she is in this situation right now!! The last thing my mother needs is to hear such news”

“That isn’t our fault, how were we supposed to know she did not know about Silvia’s situation. Stop blaming us Mr Buenavista, you were the one who lied to your mother and even brought in another woman to act as Silvia!!” Mr Castro fired back.

Fernando ran a hand in his hair in frustration. He had to admit that it was actually his fault.

“So that’s why she fainted” Ana murmured to herself. She stood a few distance from them and heard all they said. Silvia's parents found out about her condition and were now in the country. How is she supposed to keep face in such a situation? She was the second woman, and after what happened between her and Fernando, she had no right to show her face here. She could not dare to show her face to Mrs Buenavista, she wishes she gets well soon but she can’t be here.

Ana turned back to leave but stopped when someone called her. She turned and saw that it was Paula walking towards her.

She looked towards Fernando and saw him looking at her and that included Silvia’s parents whose eyes widened when they saw her although Silvia did not look like Ana when she was a teenager but pictures they have seen of Silvia as an adult, looks like this woman standing a few distance away. They could see her resemblance. Although there were differences, she looks a lot like their daughter.

Ana clenched her bag tightly.

“Mrs Buenavista asked to speak to you,” Paula said.

Ana was surprised “Me?” She pointed at herself.

“Yes, you were the first person she asked to see when she woke up and Mr Buenavista asked me to call you when you did not pick his call”

Ana felt so nervous and scared “How am I supposed to face her” she asked.

“I do not know, just as for her forgiveness” Paula said, she did not know what else to say to Ana.

Ana nodded, she took careful steps closer to the hospital room door.

She got to where Fernando and Silvia’s parents were standing and bowed her head in greeting.

She passed them by and breathed in and out before pushing the door open and stepping inside.

Fernando's eyes stayed on her till she got inside and closed the door.

Ana went to Mrs Buenavista who was on the hospital bed.

Mrs Buenavista turned her face towards Ana’s direction.

Ana swallowed when she saw the look on her eyes. It was that of anger, pain, disappointment and disbelief.

Ana bowed her head then proceeded to kneel down “I’m sorry, that I had lied to you and deceived you. Please forgive me”

Mrs Buenavista clenched her fist and her lips quivered “How could you? How could you agree to deceive an old woman like me who is close to her death. Couldn’t you have said no!!?” She asked Ana.

Ana looked up at her with tears in her eyes “I’m sorry I had no choice but to do it, my sister had needed the money for her heart surgery, I’m sorry, I had no other choice. Every time I felt so guilty for being a part of such a lie, please forgive me” Ana bowed several times and wept.

Mrs Buenavista bit her bottom lip in anger “Fine, you did it because of your sister. But after seeing that I did not die and your contract ended, why did you not tell me the truth or end your lies!! Why did you continue collecting money to deceive me!!!”

When the Castros came and told her that they got news of their daughter's situation, that she was in a coma. Mrs Buenavista could not believe them since the Silvia they spoke to was alive and well and according to what Fernando told her, Silvia had gone to see her parents, so how come were they here?

She has called Fernando to confront him and he ended up telling her the truth that the Silvia he got married to was fake and the marriage was fake. That they had lied to her. Fernando told her everything when she confronted him further, that is how she knew that Ana continued to collect money to deceive her. She could not believe such a betrayer came from her own son and the girl she had learnt to love so much like a daughter.

Tears rolled down her eyes “You never felt guilty for deceiving me in exchange for wealth and never bothered to tell me but collected more money. I will never forgive both of you for deceiving me with a fake wedding and letting me rant about wanting a child when there is no way I would have gotten one because the real Silvia is in coma!!”
